that kind of night

Darius bounced lightly up the steps of the Douglasā porch, a faint scent of marijuana on his person that nearly always lingered, and a wolfish, triumphant grin splitting his features. Barely knocking on their front door, Darius burst in with his voice already prepared to reverberate off the walls of the small cabin. Ā āYo! Dougs! --Itās your boy Dare, you want your fucking cash or not?ā Feeling satisfied that that would grab someoneās attention, Darius glanced about the kitchen before his eyes settled on the stack of near empty cereal boxes left out. He deftly shook out a handful and popped the lot of it into his mouth just as footsteps resounded on the stairs and a figure finally arrived at the kitchen's doorway.Ā āMmph.ā He attempted to greet them, and instead settled on a salute of his hand.

ā ā Goddamnit.ā A pile of miscellaneous items ā books, trophies, birthday cards ā burst from the bottom of the large box sheās carrying onto the concrete before her feet. It feels like the last straw. Instead of picking it all back up and continuing she sits on the curb next to them, pulls a cigarette out of her jacket pocket and lights it. Her eyes water, partially from the smoke and partially from exhaustion, and she wipes any stray, fallen tears from her eyes before they land on her jeans.Ā
He was sitting at the bus stop, and to his credit, minding his own damn business. His eyebrows didnāt raise in surprise when the passing girl's box gave out, his lips didnāt quirk in amusement at her expletives, and he sure as hell did not feel immediate guilt when she proceeded to sit down and cry, for Godās sake. Well.... okay that was a lie. Heād been paying close attention. He always did. Darius shoved his hands in his pockets, looking anywhere but at the sad sight of the girlās small breakdown, an attempt at maintaining some of her dignity. Yes. In fact, here came the bus. But although it stopped, doors opening wide right in front of his nose. He let his escape pass, his gaze occasionally wandering to her small back and the dwindling cigarette as the bus continued around the corner.
With a heaving sigh, Darius extricated himself from his bench and moved to plop himself down at her side, absently reaching for the box to check the damage. āLook. Donāt do that. It had a good run. But thereās plenty of boxes in the sea. No need to cry over this one.ā He tilted his head with a friendly grin, attempting to catch her eye through the smoke that curled upwards from the end of her cigarette.
I relate to the phrase āchillin like a villainā because it shows that Iām calm but also ready to sin
āAt what point does a man turn into a monster? I donāt believe that itās when he does horrible things, but when he accepts that heās able to do them, and that he does them well.ā
