Pregnancy is so beautiful...I, myself got to experience it at the age of 19. I was young but it gave me that extra push to be more responsible and a whole new perspective of life. Isn’t it crazy that we are able to create little mini’s of half us and half our significant other? My cousin Gauzie allowed me to capture these beautiful images and I love love the outcome! Business Collaboration | XoxoKim The reason behind my first love for photography was my daughter, Winter. I wanted to capture every little moment of her, not knowing that I started to grow a following and a business. I am self taught --the underdog but I have grit and have an immense passion for empowerment! As I previously wrote in my latest blog about growing up in the U.S. and adapting to the American culture, I wasn’t too fond of the Hmong culture. My dad would tell me I couldn’t play video games with my brothers because I am a girl. The rebel in me continued to break that - I collected Pokemon cards, played video games, cut my hair short, wore red eyeliner...I mean the list goes on. My parents were not too happy with me but we’re pretty civil now. I appreciate seeing other individuals who have the talent, the passion, the grit and work their side hobbies in hopes of one day living their lives doing what they are passionate about. Those people continue to inspire me so much, because our passion is what drives us! With 2018 coming to an end, I have my goals written for 2019 and one of them is to collaborate with small businesses to tell their stories by documenting their work. I’ve been blessed already with a wonderful opportunity to work with Kim, owner of her Arts + Crafts store XoxoKim which she also recently launched her Etsy store, xoxokimdesigns. This was very exciting for the both of us! There’s no doubt about Kim’s style, she chooses colors that matches her personality - Just check out her Instagram grid @kimleexiong! She offers pretty much anything you want customized, from Thank you cards, stickers, to water bottles and coffee mugs! Kim has been doing her craft for over 10 years now and her goal is to do this business full time with her growing following and Etsy store. She currently resides in Kansas City with her Husband but they are originally Wisconsinites so we arranged to meet in Green Bay (home to the Green Bay Packers, my team!) since they were home for the holidays! The Exchange Coffee, Mercantile & Eatery in De Pere, WI is so hip with a modern vibe and delicious coffee, we were able to find a corner with the perfect decor and a beautiful leather sofa! I am so pleased we got to do this!

I was able to do mini family portraits of my family, with my boyfriend and sister in law’s help! My parent’s were complaining about how cold it was the entire time, but let me just tell you - I remember my childhood clearly. My parents forced us to wear Hmong clothes and put us out in the frigid winters for photos! I am the only daughter and grew up with four brothers. My parents are traditional and in our culture, women are expected to cook, clean, and raise their children. I was born in the U.S. and grew up adapting to the American culture, so everything my younger brothers did, I wanted to do as well. I loved playing video games with them, collected Pokemon cards, wore their roller blades and went out to skate by myself, the little rebel in me was strong. But as I got older, I grew fonder of the way my parents raised us - they’ve taught me so much and I am so very thankful for my family! I love that they’ve taught me to love taking photos because they are heirlooms, Happy last day of November!

Top 5 Engagement Session + Outfit Tips I have never been engaged - so why should anyone listen to my advice? Well, fingers crossed, one day I will be engaged! But, I can say that I've shot plenty of engagement sessions and have learned quite a bit along the way and it's one of the reasons I absolutely LOVE my job. Keep reading if you think you could take away from this blog!

I make this a big deal because it IS BIG! It's your investment and you should make it well worth it. These photos will likely be printed and framed for decor in your home, to send out "Save the Dates" to your guest list, your family (more like your mom) will demand to order a bunch of prints for her home, and these beautiful photos will probably be displayed at YOUR wedding. Okay, that's a pretty big deal!

1) DON'T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR RING - this goes to both men and women, and I know most people wear their rings but some do take them off and forget, especially if they are rushed. Incorporating ring shots tell a story and my purpose is to tell your love story :)

2) Get your nails, hair + make up done, PROFESSIONALLY! This is important, because it is a huge investment - you want to look your very best! When I get shots of your ring, your nails will be part of the image. When I capture moments of you looking away or down at your shoulder - your eye make up will show, etc!

3) Outfits; Pinterest will be your best friend but this a very important one for us to discuss when we meet at booking. I go into detail, the styles and colors (also depends on what season we are in) I always recommend dressing up like you're going to a fancy dinner, the outcome of the session is so beautiful! I love this part of styling + helping you piece together outfits, so much fun!

4) Accessories + Props - these are unique pieces to incorporate into your photos because props can be anything meaningful to the both of you. Accessories, such as a bracelet he bought you for your first anniversary or the watch he received for Christmas, these pieces can add touches of significance.

5) Last but not least, LOCATION - the most meaningful part of this process is going on an adventure to a place where my client's first date was, like their favorite coffee shop or even just back in the alley - it means something and makes everything more interesting.

Loving this edit! Definitely enjoy doing styled sessions to take my creativity up a notch, it's always trial and error. This photo was shot in the Landmark Building, formally known as Hotel Wausau downtown which was built in 1923.

This was my first time in the building and it just so happened that we were having dinner the same night at Peking Restaurant. As soon as we walked in, I was so drawn to the Gothic like inspired lobby, it was dark with unique designs and beautiful chandeliers. With how bad my allergies are, I can smell how damp and musty it was.

I think you could fall in love with anyone if you saw the parts of them no one else gets to see. like if you followed them around invisibly for a day and saw them crying in their bed at night or singing in the shower or humming quietly to themselves as they make a sandwich or just even walking along the street. and even if they were really weird and had no friends at school, I think after seeing them at their most vulnerable, you wouldn’t be able to help falling in love with them.

Maybe I don’t want to talk about why I don’t feel like talking. Perhaps I’m not in the mood to confess all the reasons I didn’t laugh today, even if there aren’t any. What if I don’t feel like explaining why I’m standing here and not somewhere else. I don’t understand why you don’t realize it’s possible that I don’t want to spell out why I’m staring out this window with lips shut as tight as the panes, or why I’m watching that rainstorm with eyes that mirror the angry clouds. I don’t need to disclose the reason for my chosen lonely quiet to you. And I bet that if I asked you the same questions you spew at me, you wouldn’t want to answer either.
