This is the blog for the XEi Webcomic, a webcomic that is in development by @entesi that features sci-fi, fantasy, romance, action and adventure themes and more! It’s going to feature humans, aliens, dragons, mythical creatures, superheroes and lots of characters that all have their own stories. A lot of the characters are queer too, and will feature a lot of different characters with different identities. Be aware that the pages take a while to develop, but we notify when pages are posted in our Discord server, which is linked below. We currently post pages to our Tapas page, but might post pages to this blog in the future too!
What is the XEi Webcomic about, you may ask? Here’s a summary:
Set in 2042, the XEi is an alien government that has taken over a large portion of the galaxy and has colonised a large amount of dimensions and planets. Their main goal is to obtain as much of the universe as possible, by recruiting worthy creatures to work for them and to colonise more places for their people to live and work from.
The story focuses on three characters; Axel Drous, Tüun Vik, and Vaa'Spark. Axel was originally an ordinary human boy, but after an encounter with a group of unidentified aliens abducting and experimenting on him, he became the XEi’s first metahuman employee. He uses his bodysuit and emotion-shifting dial to switch between forms and use the powers of the alien creatures he turns into. Tüun is from a race of humanoid, buglike aliens called ‘Scvorpons’ and is an ex-criminal who was employed by the XEi in an effort to clear his name. Vaa'Spark is a cyborg, who used to be a human much like Axel, but was taken by the XEi hundreds of years ago and fitted with technology, while erasing her memories and giving her the name 'V11.VAA-SPA'RK1.’ She works hard for the XEi, but is determined to one day regain her memories so she can return to her old life.
Axel meets Vaa'Spark not long after being recruited by the XEi, and she becomes a mother figure to him as she shows how their system works and what each role in their government does. The two end up assigned to rescue Tüun, who was breaking into one of the colony buildings and had set the area on fire during break-in. After Axel comforts Tüun and tries to get him to see a better light, the bug decides it’s a good opportunity to clear his criminal status and assigns to work alongside Axel and Vaa'Spark.
Here is some information on the main characters:
Jamison ‘Axel’ Drous (He/him)
Jamison ‘Axel’ Drous was born in Australia, continent of Earth, in 2024 to Alinta and Thompson Jackel Drous. He lived with his parents until 2038, when he moved across the planet with his mother due to safety concerns regarding his father. She became his legal carer after multiple neurodiagnosis documents in his name. The move to a new location was only meant to be temporary; they had also moved due to humans’ recent discovery that otherworldly species existed, and Axel had a passion in studying them.
In 2042, Axel moved out to a study ‘den’ a gathering of humans had hidden under the radar of the Earth government dedicated to researching other planetary DNA and technology. Not long after meeting the people at the den, he was abducted and experimented on by an unidentified group of beings, then thrown back into the den alone after erasing his memories of the previous encounter. The beings had injected thousands of pieces of various DNA inside of Axel’s body, causing him to constantly, painfully shift between each form with no control over what happened to his body. This experience was the cause for his PTSD diagnosis, and the human scientists who ran the den came in and managed to calm Axel down enough to fit him with a temporary body suit that allowed him to (for the most part at least) stay within his human form so long as he kept calm.
After picking up traces of Scvorpon DNA on Earth, one of the XEi soldiers; Aramus. arrived on Earth to find Axel. He quickly befriended the now metahuman boy and helped the scientists create a custom design bodysuit to help Axel’s shifts; a special dial on the chest remains implanted on his body (designed by Axel himself) and is used to change and/or regulate his moods to better assist his mutations. With the dial and the suit, he is able to change his emotions in a controlled manner to use a lot of the DNA inserted in his body, now to shapechange and use the abilities of the species. There is permanent damage to his entire body, including lack of arms, different hair, and hollowed and/or weeping scars on most of his body. He can remove the suit for a maximum of 5 hours without a problem, however will encounter instantanious problems if the dial is removed. The dial can be ‘turned off’, and his emotions will shift naturally in a calmer manner but it is recommended not to ask him to remove the dial.
Tüun Vik (Any pronouns)
Not much is known about Tüun’s past, as they tend to keep a lot of secrets. The only things known about them is that they used to be a criminal in the eyes of the XEi government; breaking into various facilities to steal resources and money to share amongst Tüun’s people. They ended up bonding with the aforementioned Axel and felt it was time to improve their behaviour. As such, they now work for the XEi and vow to protect Axel as well as make up for their past mistakes.
Vaa’Spark (She/they)
Vaa'Spark was hired hundreds of years ago back when she was a human in order to recruit other members into the XEi. Over time, her body had multiple health conditions she was unable to fix herself, and agreed to become a cyborg to combat this. Unknown to her, this upgrade would mean that her memories of her past life before the XEi would be forgotten due to a technology fault, and as such she devoted the rest of her life to the XEi government as it was the only thing she could remember. Over her many years of life, Vaa'Spark has become close friends to many recruits, and has trained many more to become incredibly skilled workers and eventual soldiers. Vaa'Spark herself is close to becoming a soldier-in-training, but takes her time with this as she rather would train cadets instead of helping herself.
When she met Axel, she helped recruit him much like the others she has helped and decided to stay by his side to help him adjust to his new job. The two bonded quite fast, and Vaa'Spark is the mother figure in Axel’s life while he is away from home.
There are more characters that will be in the webcomic, such as Axel’s emotion support dragon Lullaballoo, Axel’s nonbinary cousin Emerson, Aramus the XEi soldier, Jaiyen the robot girl who is the AI for the main cast’s space ship, Unnundu the space elf who has healing powers and more! Thank you all for being so patient :) there’s been a lot going on with out mental health so there hasn’t been much to share on here for a while, but thank you all for being so patient! We’re trying to slowly get back to doing digital art so we can work on the webcomic pages! Thank you guys for supporting us!
We’re working on a new reference for Axel! It’s gonna be a turnaround so you can see him on all angles. We haven’t drawn him a reference since 2018/2019 so it’ll be nice to see how much my art has improved! He’s not easy to draw but he’s absolutely worth it. We love him so much!
Hey there friends, thank you for your patience :) The admin of this blog is trying to get his computer fixed, and when it is the webcomic should be able to be worked on again! It’s just likely gonna be around $600 to get fixed 💀 but we will try to keep you all updated! For now we are working on the webcomic story and details behind the scenes, and once the computer is fixed webcomic pages will eventually come out again!
