90 #4, Alliance #4, Druid #1. I got a tough choice for which alt to do next, because whichever it is will probably be my last (unless my life suddenly changes in a big way). Do I go for my horde paladin, who has been in my top 5-10 for a couple expansions now, or do I do something more mindless? I dunno.

What I do know is man, doing these void assaults as a level 90 is way more lucrative than doing them sub-90, and that's not a good thing!

So, my mom's been feeling bad for a while now. It started with her back, and then at some point she got a lump/some lumps on her neck that made it painful to swallow too, and I am not entirely clear on the progression of just back to back+neck, but in any case this has been going on for close to eight months. I've been trying to get her to be more active in getting it figured out, but have probably not been pushing as hard as I should have been about it. After she spent her birthday earlier in the month basically immobilized I finally got her to follow up with her doctor about some referrals that were supposed to go through over a month ago (and didn't) and she had an appointment for a biopsy for next Friday (so nearly a month out from her birthday and way too long to wait but what can I do)?

Last night I went downstairs to feed the cats because she was having a bad pain day and I figured I could at least save her the trip, to come back upstairs to find her on the floor having partially crawled out of her bathroom after failing to get up off the toilet. We spent 15-20 minutes trying to get her up again without much success before I called 911, and the paramedics got her up into a chair and took her vitals and told her to take her insulin (which she hadn't been taking because she hasn't been eating). We eventually got that done and we went to bed, but when I got up to go to the bathroom myself I went to check on her and she was having trouble getting out of bed again, and then back into bed. She was also not particularly lucid at this point, and I was panicking so once i got her into a position that wasn't half-spilling out of the bed I called 911 again and the paramedics came back (well, a different pair of guys) and we bundled her off to the hospital.

She spent nearly 11 hours in the ER yesterday before they admitted her to the hospital proper. Evidently the muscle weakness was diabetic acid ketosis which I believe she's being treated for now, but there are apparently also "lumps" in her stomach that were part of why she wasn't eating, and I have no idea if/how that's being followed up on. She'll be in the hospital for a couple of days, and that's all the information I have right now.

So that's what's going on. Obviously my brain is screaming down the Worst Possible Outcome tracks and also blaming myself for not pushing harder, sooner. I'm trying not to focus on that and we'll see how things develop, but I'm going to try to be frugal with visiting her partially because there's nothing I can do, but also because each trip to the hospital costs $40 in travel expense because I can't drive myself (ubers are $14-17+tip one way). I'll text her when it's normal people hours and see if she wants me to bring her anything (I left her with a charging cord for her phone when I went to the ER yesterday but I a) don't know if that made it to her room and b) is enough; MY bed when I was admitted had USB ports in it but hers might not, y'know) but will probably not really be able to visit more than that.

Naturally the house is an absolute nightmare right now because neither of us have really been able to keep it clean; I'm going to try to put some of this anxious energy into fixing some of that while I can but I can physically only do so much. At some point I have to hire a cleaner to get it back into a maintainable state, but that's something I've been putting off to avoid disturbing her with and something I can't do now that she's out of the house and it's only my schedule to work with because it's a holiday weekend.

Why's this shit always happening on holiday weekends btw, I'm reasonably sure the hospital doesn't have access to her regular medical records cos she goes to my old doctor's office which is in a different network and they didn't have access to mine when I was in for my heart attack on July 4th weekend back in 2019.

Not that there's much in her regular medical records cos of the aforementioned lack of doctoring that was happening, but I can only blame so much of that on aforementioned old doctor's office, heh.

Anyway that's why it's 3:30am and I'm wide awake actually making a post on tumblr instead of continuing to... not do that, lmao.

5/29 edit: Mom's being discharged from the hospital today, but moving into an assisted living sort of deal temporarily. So, not much is changing on my end.

Unfortunately, the biopsy came back as positive for cancer. No additional news yet, except they're "fishing" to see if it's an unusual cancer or not? But yeah, so that's happening now too I guess.

90 #3, Alliance #3, Warlock #1. I'm pretty much only playing enough WoW to complete one alts' "do 10 WQs" weekly quest a week (and I guess the Saltheril's Haven weeklies, which don't count towards it), and even that's been a bit of a slog some weeks. Still, I'll max out the exp bonus of having alts before I run out of game time at this rate, so that's gotta count for something.

I will probably talk about it at greater length at some point, but I'm pretty sure the Trading Post was the beginning of the end of my time in WoW. Either that or the cash money longboi, but I think the TP came first. Will have to go back and look at that.
