Am I crazy, or is the way that the Tirkin get handled in Xenoblade Chronicles really crazy? Why is there an entire, totally sentient humanoid race, with government and tools and relationships and everything, that you can kill on sight??? I feel like they keep trying to make it better, but the more they humanize them, the worse it all feels retroactively 😭 in 3 it even kinda felt like the takeaway was that those specific Tirkins deserved it or whatever, but then what about the first game???
I'm, like, 99% sure it's racism. Like, and it just keeps getting worse every time they try to elaborate upon the Tirkins.
My Xenoblade favs. AKA I like robots and machine nerds
What does the word "human" mean?
Xenoblade 1: Human isn't a word.
Xenoblade X: The species homo sapien.
Xenoblade 2: Any person who is not a magical sword person.
Xenoblade 3: Any person regardless of species.
timeloop shalvis ☹️
On one hand, kinda wanna get Xenoblade X DE, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure I have, like, 500 hours on the Wii U version and I already went on record saying I wasn't that interesting in Xenoblade DE for that exact same reason.

I love how Dunban’s relationship with Riki was “knowing adult playing along with childish delusions” and then Riki finally goes “Man, I’m a married father of *mumblemumble* with a mortgage and debt, I just talk funny.” when they have a chance to chat.
Honestly one of the best mechanics. Workplace safety.

It's very funny that this mechanic exists in every game except Xenoblade X (there are no ladders on Mira).
What generations are Xenoblade Chronicles X characters in?
(calculations based on the year 2056 and in-game given ages)
Millennial : Maurice Chausson (65)
Gen Z : Nagi (57), Bozé (54), Vandam (48)
Gen α : Lao(31)*, Doug (30)*, Frye (30)*
Gen β : Elma (29), HB (28), Eleonora (28), Irina (27), "Hero"(late 20s), Murderess (26), Gwin (24), Hope (24), Phog (24), Yelv (22), Cross(**), Alexa (21), Mia (19), Celica (18)
Gen γ : Lin (13), Tatsu (13)
*depending on which date range you use, these are all close enough to the edge that you could consider them Gen Beta
** despite Cross' age technically being determined by the player, dialogue suggests Cross "canonically" appears to be old enough to drink in the United States but young enough to still get carded
Vandham 100% played every FNAF game. Nagi got really into Undertale and Among Us. He probably has a sans AU lying about somewhere.
Lao, Doug, Frye, and Nagi all played Fortnite. Nagi was probably a god at Fortnite.
Shulk going dad joke mode at the tender age of 18.... dude had a huge arsenal of them ready when Nikol was born i can tell
Reyn laughing at Shulk's pun is also so funny, Nikol didn't stand a chance, that kid was born surrounded by constant puns lmao
I haven't played Xenoblade X yet but Millesaurus I will kill for you
They're very funny. You run into their toes and immediately get sent flying. You explode their head and they Do Not Give A Shit. An army of little ferrets follow them around 24/7. You find them in the first 5 minutes of gameplay and they 100% could benchpress the final boss.
10/10 creeture.
Shulk in Xenoblade 1: would you really be able to live with yourself after killing another homs?!
Shulk in Xenoblade 3: I'm sorry Keves!
I'm not sure how to explain this one

This was my reaction to the second Xenoblade 2 trailer. So, same ngl.
Damn, no more mentioning Xenoblade X and having ppl get confused because they have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about.
I think it's really funny that one of the few good character designs in Xenoblade 2 belongs to Queen Raqura: a minor character who has, like, 2 whole spoken sentences over the course or the entire game.
Like, first of all, she's one of the only female characters in the series to not be a twig. She's one of the only female characters in Xenoblade 2 to not be designed in a fetishy way. I know, high fucking standards over here.
I do like how her design uses shape language to impose her authority. It's mostly done by making her wide, between her bulk and her collar thing (idk what it's called). Her outfit is ornate enough to come across as upper class, but it's not so ornate as to read as overly wealthy. Which helps sell Uraya's money problems. She reads as a down-to-earth ruler and that's largely how she's characterized.
Like, this isn't necessarily peak character design, but it is a level of quality that should have been the baseline instead of the exception.
