Pride 2026
As the month of Pride has come let’s celebrate and remember those from our past and present, while aiming for a better future. A month that has roots is a battle against hatred, inequality, and prejudice. A month memorializing those who fought for our rights to publicly express who we are and love. A month to support our love ones, and those who’s struggling to find the safety to be themselves. And most of all, even when current events and leaders make it harder to be open with who we are, we still fight on for a future where equality and justice prevail.

There are many misconceptions about how vector art is created and functions. Beginners coming from traditional art or raster programs like Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, Photoshop, or similar often see drawing simply as line work, coloring, and adding details. They sketch the figure, add color, refine it, and that’s usually the workflow. However, their work can’t be scaled up without quality loss because it's based on pixels, not shapes. This is a key difference between raster and vector art.
Vector art is commonly linked to logo creation and tech-oriented projects because it is designed for easy scaling. Unlike fixed-size artwork, you can design at one size, like seven inches, and enlarge it up to thirty-three inches or larger without losing quality or clarity. This is because vector art relies on mathematical shapes rather than pixels, ensuring the image remains crisp and clean regardless of size.
Another key difference lies in how the artwork is created. Raster images are assembled pixel by pixel and eventually flatten into a single layer unless you manually separate elements. In contrast, vector images are composed of separate objects that remain independent unless you choose to merge them. Each block, highlight, and shape exists independently, allowing you to move, recolor, reshape, or wholly modify it without impacting the other parts. This represents a fundamentally different approach to working with digital art.
Different programs handle vector art in unique ways. Adobe Illustrator offers features like saving swatches, gradients, creating brushes within the file, and building patterns directly. Affinity, however, requires exporting and importing to create brushes, and pattern building is more manual. When switching between Inkscape, Affinity, and Illustrator, a copy-and-paste approach is very useful. It saves time, especially when designing elements like a flower. In raster, you sketch each part one by one—petals, stem, then color it all. In vector, you’re not just drawing the petal; you’re building shading as separate vector segments, developing line work, and breaking down the design as you would in a sketch, but with much more control.
If you're unhappy with how a block looks, you can repeatedly edit it until it fits your needs. In raster art, if you dislike a line or shadow, you simply redraw it. If the layer isn't visible, you redraw that element again. Moving from traditional to digital art can make the layer system seem overwhelming. However, vector art simplifies this because each element is automatically on its own layer. If you like a highlight but not its shape, you can modify just the highlight. There's no need to search for it or start over from scratch.
Color behaves differently as well. Raster images depend heavily on value and blending, whereas vector graphics do not. With vectors, you can use flat colors throughout until the form begins to emerge, then add the next color on top, followed by additional layers. The downside is that vector files can become large, especially in Illustrator. More pieces mean more layers, resulting in bigger files. While vector graphics are more detailed and demanding on your system, they are also more forgiving of mistakes. You can edit them endlessly without causing damage.
Since vector art consists of many components, paying attention to every detail is essential. Unlike raster, where adding a line is simply about aesthetics, in vector work, you need to consider whether each line enhances the form. You might enjoy a particular line, but it might not align with the overall goal, so you revise it repeatedly. The initial sketch will never exactly match the final vector because the piece evolves during refinement. This iterative process is one reason I love working with vectors. The ability to continuously edit and reshape allows me to push the artwork further than I could with raster. In Clip Studio Paint, it’s easy to get caught up in details and lose satisfaction with the sketch. In Illustrator, if I dislike something, I only need to fix that specific part instead of redrawing the entire section.
The workflow can be challenging if you haven't worked with vectors before. Traditional art transfers easily into raster digital art due to the similar mindset. However, vector art demands a different approach unless you're experienced in fields like logo design, architecture, or industrial design—where building shapes in segments is common. Those skills make working with vectors simpler because you’re accustomed to constructing forms piece by piece. In vector illustration, editing highlights, fine-tuning details, and reshaping components are quicker and easier since everything is separate and editable.
That’s my perspective on vector art. While not trivial, its core strength lies in its flexibility: all elements are editable, scalable, and capable of evolving well beyond the initial sketch.
While working on the video part of the "Moon Bell" vector tutorial, I face two tough choices, mainly due to hosting concerns. I could make the videos unlisted on YouTube, but that risks potential deletion. I know how to keep content within platform guidelines, but that's not the main issue. The real concern is ensuring long-term access for my Patreon members.
Even though this version of my Patreon is recent, I have used Patreon before. But that doesn’t help when navigating the landscape to scale for archival purposes. I’m also keeping accessibility for members across all regions in mind, because even if I attempt to stay with one vendor, I risk members not having access to my tutorial videos due to regional locks.
Although I am mainly an English speaker, I plan to expand to Spanish-speaking audiences eventually. I am multilingual, fluent in English and Dominican Spanish. Currently, my Patreon relies heavily on English slides for information access. As my Patreon grows, I aim to gradually reduce this reliance and develop content that viewers of any language can follow easily.
I could depend solely on early Patreon supporters to share their needs and suggestions, but this data would likely be biased due to demographics. Since I am based in North America, I am mainly managing the North American-heavy market during this initial phase, which I appreciate. However, given the multilingual and multicultural nature of any global region, I must also consider accessibility factors.
As I’m putting the slides together for the vector half of this month’s Patreon tutorial, I’m finding it a bit… daunting. Not because I’m uncertain about how to structure it so that it’s accessible to anyone at any skill level. The daunting part is trying to find a balance between explaining things at a basic level vs being so detailed that newcomers feel overwhelmed.
Basically, when transforming a sketch into a vector, it's not just a simple 'image trace” or copying the image directly. The process can be difficult for anyone, regardless of experience. Skill level often depends on the medium you're most comfortable with. For instance, myself and someone else with the same proficiency in Adobe Illustrator will produce very different results. This is because our working methods, how we analyze details, and our understanding of Illustrator vary greatly. I find this fascinating because it means we can learn from each other.
I’m also trying not to tailor my tutorials to a specific software. My goal is to make them accessible for those who can’t afford Adobe but still want to learn the transition from traditional to digital art. There are many software options across different price ranges, but the challenge lies in how each one functions. That's why I struggle to create tutorials that are informative without focusing solely on Adobe.
This is especially important to me because I enjoy exploring different software and figuring things out. But unlike myself, not everyone would have the patience to try every available tool to complete a project, nor the financial means to afford Adobe as a beginner.
As I anticipate my two-week trip to New York City in May, I feel genuinely excited. While the main purpose is to search for jobs in person, that doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy my hometown. I look forward to indulging in the fantastic food, tackling the numerous stairs and hills, and revisiting my favorite museums like The Metropolitan Museum. I also love the American Museum of Natural History and the Museum of the Moving Image.
There’s also visiting the Burnside and 3rd Ave street malls. I get to see friends again and enjoy the nightlife. It’ll be amazing to reconnect with friends and make new ones. Not to mention, the best part of NYC, for me, is the city’s history. For example, Museum Mile, which is a whole street of historical homes and museums. Then there’s Queens, with buildings that used to be factories. There are also Pre- and Post-War buildings that have so much character, it’s wonderful to experience them in person.
I’ll have the chance to photograph construction sites and soak in the vibrant energy of NYC. I love noticing the quirky shapes created by peeling paint in the subways, as well as the street art and graffiti that enliven neighborhoods. There’s also 42nd Street near the 4/5/6 lines—away from Times Square—that offers fantastic food and shopping. The nearby Fashion District is a fun area to explore too. I want to visit libraries, and I wonder if my favorite $1.50 pizza slices at Fordham are still open.
It’ll be great to visit a chicken spot for a delicious spicy chicken sandwich. The more I reflect on the city I grew up in, the more excited I am to see what has changed in the 4 years I've been away. What hidden, hole-in-the-wall places will I discover? Which new businesses have opened that either replace familiar ones or add to NYC's vibrant culture?
Gosh, despite New York City's constant evolution, its core spirit remains intact. The hardworking and kind immigrant spirits that built the city continue to define it. The city's reconstruction over time proves that NYC is not just a city but a relentless force that cannot be broken. While the world changes around it, the true heart of NYC remains unchanged. Even when others try to alter it, NYC is one of the few cities where people understand two things: we fight for what we want and strive to move forward, never backward. Where others see danger, we see opportunities to grow.
I’m currently mad at the way Affinity saves files and exports Even the V2 versions all exported to either flat PDF or Photoshop. No Illustrator export. So I literally have to stay within the Affinity ecosystem to continue vector work. Where as in Adobe I can open an illustrator file in every one of their products, sure some will give me the message that the file will lose a feature here or there but point is I can technically open it.
There’s also the fact that V3(the Canva version) only saves files as one type, which by default is raster
Since I’m working officially announcing my Patreon next month I been working hard on 2 main opening projects. My excitement around them is big but I been trying to hold off from sharing yet.
At that for one of the pieces I’m down to the minor intricate details before adding shadows and highlights. After which the second round of intricate details.
I’m so excited to share more, but soon. It’s also why I haven’t linked my Patreon page yet. I’m just trying out all my focus on these two pieces before finally talking about it.
2026 First Announcement
With the start of the new year a lot of things will be updated and changed. Starting with: FanFic projects are still on hold as I try to rearrange a few priorities. Such priorities are starting a new posting system and correcting a few inconsistencies. Not to mention, certain projects are going to be terminated and archive. This doesn’t mean you won’t be able to continue reading and enjoying them. Just that there won’t be any new updates. The termination list will be announced at a later date.
Things to look forward to this coming month: the “Guns and Heels” series, and a few new art pieces.
I’m so ready to leave this hell hole of Grants Pass! But first I need to get through my top surgery next month. After that I can go full force to return to NYC. I need out of this death trap!
At that my Grant Pass apartment complex was a rush build!
The first 2 weeks people started moving in the list of issues were insane. Power outlets that DIDN’T work! Burnt off smell from the wall heater, to the point people AVOIDED that room and started the process of leaving the complex. Wall leaking during raining days
The boiler cleanly rushed to install that any wrong move and that’s a safety hazard that can happen in SECONDS! The power strips too close to the kitchen sink! Ethernet cables exposed, and not in a “settled” way either. You can tell this place said “fuck the rules”
These are problems you expect from a much OLDER construction! Not a NEWER one!

After making sure the kids were safe within a protection circle and the phoenix was keeping watch, Eric finally took a breath and braced himself to meet the god of chaos’s son. Before he shadowed stepped anywhere near the edge of the capital, he made sure to breathe.
As Eric shadow stepped between the trees and capital citizens all the way to the castle he couldn’t help overhear a few whispers. Something about this year of suitors were rude, entitled, and arrogant. Eric didn’t really put much thought into this as he had one goal.
Once Eric snuck past the guards, strange crowd of women, he made it into the castle. He stuck to the shadows as he moved around finding the one person he came here for. King Kensi.
As Eric shadow stepped through the castle he was getting very annoyed. Women in almost every hall he ventured through. Many of which were clearly dressed to impress while others were barely dressed. But Eric tried to shake off those nagging thoughts about all of this.
Eventually Eric found his way into the grand banquet hall, and what he saw made his blood boil. For in the center, clear as day, there was no denying who that man whore was. That clear resemblance of the god of chaos.
The 7’9 foot, long black hair, skin the color of gorgeous apple wood, silver eyes with hints of gold, an arrogant fool of a man, Kensi was surrounded and being touched by women!
Without a second thought Eric rose from the shadows behind Kensi, grabbed the tall bastard by the arm and threw the king across the hall. Because how dare he. How dare the king surround himself when…
Eric quickly returned to the shadows and left the castle. He wasn’t sure what to feel. But all he did know was there was no way in hell he was going to be anywhere near the jerk of a king.
All this time Eric was told stories of how nice, thoughtful, caring, and very smart of a person Kensi was. But what Eric saw in that grand hall was nothing of the person he was promised to meet. And that hurt more than anything.
Once Eric returned to the children he stopped crying and got ready to travel again. For he was just done with all of it. He finally completed his end of the arrangement, so there’s no point in sticking around.
Eric gathered the kids before looking back at the castle, that was visible past the tree lines. Eric couldn’t help whisper to himself as he turned away. “May that jerk find happiness with his harem.”
After a deep breath, Eric reasoned he’ll find a library somewhere that will give him answers. Cause “clearly” a 600 year old dragon of a whore was unreliable.

It was that time of the year. That dreadful one month. The horrible, painstaking, brutal, extremely exhausting month. The only month that their king was home after a year long visit across his vast kingdom to assess his people. If only he came home and was able to rest.
But the staff and the king weren’t so lucky. For this dreadful month was courtship month. One would think the same month that the king was celebrating his birthday and was finally home he would be able to relax. Nope. He had to go through the most horrific tradition that made him question ruling.
He hasn’t even stepped into his castle, to announce his return, when a hoard of women tried to ambush him. By the gods, Kensi hated this stupid tradition that his “beloved” cousin insisted was part of being a king.
All Kensi wanted to do was take a nice bath, maybe steal a few sweets from the kitchen, and nap. But nope. An almost 600 year old dragon, king of 200 countries and 50 territories, historical and cultural record holder, and demigod had to deal with women trying to court him during his birthday month.
Kensi somehow managed to get free from the ambush and ran to the servants courters. Maybe there he can get 5 minutes to breathe. Or not. Especially when his head maid, Ms Clarice, started to scolded him for not behaving like a proper king.
“Proper king”. Kensi hated that phrase. Especially when for the better part of his upbringing before he took the crown at 200 years old, he was told how to be a “proper king”. And by the gods he tried. He did the paperwork, sat in a throne room, make rules. Heck, he even went to war.
But kensi hated every single second of it. He enjoyed spending time with people and learning about anything and everything. Before he took the crown he had ran away with his father and studied just about everything. From how cultures in different places, to all sorts of plants.
And thanks to this adventures with his father, Kensi was very adamant about writing everything he learned. Especially before and after the war. He didn’t want those stories to be erased, regardless of WHO became ruler.
Speaking of ruling… Kensi especially getting scolded by his head maid and managed to escape into his secret private study. There he added his journals he written throughout the year. After that he snuck his way to the royal bedchambers for a well deserved nap. He’ll deal with courtship month tomorrow

Eric long knew this day would come but he didn’t think it would come this fast. Especially not when he been struggling with raising two orphans on his own for 10 years. He even waited an extra year just to make sure he was ready. But now there was no going back, he had to do this.
There was no going back now. For it was the month the twin moons would align again for the 600th time, just 2 months before the twin moons aligned. 2 very important events. Especially when Eric was turning 26 on the alignment of the two moons, so technically he wasn’t fully late.
Ok, maybe Eric was late by like 9 months, but who’s counting. Sure, this whole thing was just supposed to be a promised meeting. There was no guarantee that he would like this person or they would like him. And maybe Eric was a little bit nervous.
After all, he chose to go through the human rite of passage at age 16, just to make sure he knew himself. And maybe to become somewhat worthy of the person he was promised to meet. Especially when said person was the very son of the god of chaos. So can you really blame Eric for being nervous?
Granted this person was turning 600 years old, is a king, and to top it off, a DRAGON! Eric didn’t know anything about kings or dragons, but being the son of chaos must mean they’re just as smart.
After all, Eric got super excited when he learned all his favorite spell books were written by this dragon. From theories on enchantments to how different cultures study magic. For goodness sake, Eric had been following such knowledge since getting his first book at the age of 11.
So to finally meet the author of such knowledge Eric was head over heels. Just thinking about if he could at least least impress enough to ask if the son could share their ultimate library then Eric wouldn’t mind at least sharing space with the guy.
Well… that was the original plan until Eric found himself taking care of 2 kids for a decade. One of them, a boy named Damon was turning 10 soon. While the other was a girl named Emma, who was turning 16. So now Eric had a different goal for this meeting.
If Eric and the son of chaos could get along just enough Eric would ask to explain what the children were, but these kids are “strange”. Especially when Damon, for being almost 10, still was the size and behavior of a 2 year old. While Emma was the size and behavior of a 4 year old. So strange.
