Just a thought Goku didn’t return to earth after the Frieza battle because up until this point he finally realized that he thought he was able to keep his family safe, until Vetgeta and Frieza happened. So Goku decided to learn more and train more. Not just to control his new SuperSaiyan abilities but also to be ready if a new attack happens so he doesn’t lose his friends again.
