She nodded, in full agreement. “There’s nothing quite like being high above the melee,” Pansy sighed, resting her chin in her palm, her elbow against the table. She turned bright eyed at him. “I’m glad you aren’t the sort to judge me for who I was back at school,” she said quietly. “I’m quite changed from that girl. I don’t really deserve friends, and Merlin knows I don’t have many. So, please forgive me in advance if I do anything that’s not friendly-like. I don’t really know how to be someone’s friend. But I’d like to try to be yours.”
Justin shrugged. “I’m glad you’re not who you were in school. That would be dreadful character development.” He offered her a small smile. “You don’t have to try, Pansy. You are my friend. I don’t have many either, well not many that I trust.”
