âyouâre more of a tomb-raider than i thought, ya handsome.â taking an interest to his exposed neck, jin playfully buried his face into it in an attempt to lighten the mood he thought he just kicked down into the sewers. a knowing, reckless smile flowering over his lips against geunâs skin, he added, âand youâre damn right. the only thing you owe me later is a kiss since thatâll negate everything else i bought today.â
Jinâs hands were cold on his face, and it had Geun blinking the cold away even as his lungs continued to heaveâhis body likely yelling at him for putting it through that. ( But his blood felt warm, and his head felt light, the upturn of his lips was too damn sharpâbut Geun was feeling greedy enough about it that he found he didnât care. ) Jin looked so surprised, his cheers so earnest that Geun didnât think he had the heart to tell him that this, this haphazard way of breaking apart wasnât an impossibility but an inevitability when it came to this body of his. ( This body he was learning to love again, finding his way back to and making home of; within the folds of his ribs and the curves of his chest. ) On his tongue, Geun tasted that hit of heady ambrosia, something addictive that he remembered having chased before. He tastedâno, not Jin; the taste of Jin has faded from his lips now, unfortunatelyâtechnicolor waves of the air, the feeling of his chest expanding until it was bordering on painful, the sound of Jinâs laugh and the quiet roar of the city that never slept around them.
And Geun didnât even see it coming, didnât see it at allâ -one-minute Jin was joking something ridiculous, pushing his hand up to his chest as Geun laughed, head bowing with it as he closed his tight and shook his head. It was on his lips, a quip birthing to tell him iâm not second in line to anyone, which wasnât true, and not for a minute did he think it was ( because he was definitely second in line to this, had bid his farewell to letting himself lose his mind and body like this a long time ago ). It died before it could depart from his lips, though, just as his laughter eventually faded to a few huffs of breath here and there, caught somewhere between Jinâs gaze and the way the air was wrapping tight around him, the way he was feeling heady with it. ( It was the fall from the rush, yes, and it still sang so sweet in his veins. It was so good to him, so sweet as it cooled the sweat pouring down his spine and made his lungs feel like there were wings attached to them that pumped him higher with each breath. why did he leave this behind, again? ) There came another huff of a laugh, almost quiet between them, an after-thoughtâbecause Jin was staring at him. No, Jinâs gaze was resting on him so heavy, it was pulling Geunâs breath until it was lulled easy again. It was only a few moments, Geun was sure, but the silence wrapped around them long enough that Geun forgot to be affronted by the fact that he was hereâsimply staring at Jin. Being held witness to Jin. ( They were close, they had to have been; Jinâs hands were on his shoulders, and Geunâs hand still rested wherever Jin propped it during his ploy of dramatics. Geun was aware of it, but he wasnât bothered by it. )
There he was, held witness by Jin.
It was shaping on his lips, a question, because something was changing in the air but Geun was too lost in his stupor to keep up with it fast enough. The laughter has lulled from raucous, to soft, to noneâ -and Geun was drunk, but Geun wasnât unperceptive. Something dipped in Jinâs eyes, Geun knew because he was all but staring into them ( all on account of: he hadnât looked away quick enough, and now he was caught in whatever quagmire was mulling itself up in Jin ), the longer the short silence stretched, the more Geun realizing it was in some ways tied to the man in front of him and all that was left hanging in the air. Geun was blinking then, trying to clear his head from its sluggish upheaval as his mind tried to alert him that something had changed: the bright, overexposed way the moment had uncurled around them was settling rapidly, steadily, into something more faded. But before he could piece himself together fast enough, Jinâs gaze was dropping from his and onto Geunâs lips, his jawâ -and there Geun went, distracted all over again for an altogether different reason now. When their gazes meet again, whatever question Geun felt like he should ask but didnât know how to, whatever request he wanted to ask but shouldnât haveâall died on his lips. ( It was a record scratch, freeze frame, stop as soon as Jin looked at him again. Geun was sure the man wasnât trying to pierce through him, but Geun felt it anyway, felt like Jin was looking past everything heâd stitched back up around him. It was unnerving, felt like leaving the raw end of a nerve exposedâ
âbut it was the alcohol talking, wasnât it? The sweet symphony of adrenaline treating his body right, wasnât it?
       Geun had never been good at lying to himself, but he would do it again: it was. )
Whatever stasis they had been held in for that brief passing moment of eternity shattered as soon as Jin pulled him in for another embrace. Geun let his hands fall to his side, arms coming up to circle around Jinâs middle with an ease as the grin on his face pulled up again, all too ready to flower. It was lazier this time, arms wrapping loosely yet securely around the other as he rested his head to the sideâcraning his neck just enough that it would give Jin enough room to work. ( Tactile; skin responding to touch before his mind could reel and catch up to the implications of letting himself get this familiar this quick. )
âYouâre being cute.â Geun hummed, and you could feel the way the word made its way through his throat, vibrating with it. âTae fucking Jinâis being cute.â And then his grin was splitting into something bigger, arms securing against the man tighter to ensure that he wouldnât pull away when Geun had just started his teasingâeven as he pulled back, returning the favor as his hands came up to cup the otherâs jaw, tilting it up the slightest inch to move his gaze to rest on Geunâs own. âIâm flattered that you think my kisses are worth that much, butââ And his brows rose to emphasize that, whatever weight their gazes had tried to decipher in each other gone in favor of some lazy kind of mirth, like he was preening under watchful eyes ( which he knew to do so well, knew to be the -object desired- so well. ) âBut the next time we try to drunkenly get ourselves killed, itâs on me.â

âI thought we were quite clear that no part of this relationship constituted us talking about your wants and desires while I sit here, trying to enjoy my meal.â Geun replied, voice painstakingly committed to disinterest, even as he narrowed his gaze at her with something that lacked the appropriate heat to truly be considered a directed insult.
