"....(..it's surprisingly quiet around.....good...)..."
Warmth.
Despite her lack of position, that tone she spoke in, will forever mirror the general she once was. Commanding, and authoritative, although she did not wish to come off in such a way. Her feet basically glide over the snow, as the ice and cold surrounding her feels like home. With shiva’s ice in her veins, Celes could endure the coldest of subzero temperatures, and remain sustained, and steadfast.
An icy expression is upon her features; one that could almost impersonate the snowfall around them. A stern temperament is about her, as she continues to step closer to him. “Snow will cause it to rust,” as a general, she has spent much time around weaponry of all kind in various conditions of weather. Leave the metallic edge of a blade too long in any sort of condensation, and over time, it shall grow dull, and therefore useless.
His cool demeanor could match that of her own. It is almost refreshing to have meet someone, in this foreign land, with that sort of familiarity about him. She stops moving just a few feet before him. Close enough to take in the full visage of his facial features, and to clearly hear that unwavering tone he spoke in, despite the dampness of his clothing. Had he falling in the snow? How strange it was to witness someone actually walking about this tundra-like climate in such a way.
"I am Celes— Celes Chere." Her tone is just as iced over as the world around her is. With arms folded across her chest, her head all but barely cants to the side.
"If you continue on, you will surely freeze."
His eyes narrowed, holding a silent lock-down with her. Her headstrong demeanour and icy position was something he could acknowledge as intimidating. He could picture her in a high position and held in high esteem for her straightforwardness and fearlessness. But Squall wasn't someone that would simply put his tail between his legs and apologize out of fear. No, if anything he sensed a challenge.
It was easy for him to dissect people that were similar to him, which made him vulnerable to intimidation or persuasion. He turned his chin up and clicked his tongue, "Tck...whatever."
However, the fact that she matched his own cold demeanour wasn't what made him feel defiant. It was how she blatantly dared disrespect him on his ability to care for his own weapon. Squall had a deep-seeded pride for his gunblade and the care for it as well, so for a stranger to simply waltz over to him and easily start a parley over it wasn't something he would allow to slide so easily.
He turned his back to her, not recognizing her name whatsoever. "It's my problem, not yours. Anyways, Celes, you better head back to town or you'll be considered a trespasser and taken into military custody if you keep going on beyond this point." he warned her sternly.
"So beat it."
Cloud stopped after a step and turned back to face the other male. “Name’s Cloud. If you ever find yourself in a place called Edge stop by the Seventh Heaven.” He said before continuing his walk.
He nod. A little speechless, not knowing what to say to the blonde. He hated social interaction so much, "I'll keep that in mind...."
"..thanks..Cloud..." he added.
Cloud started to walk away and waved a bit. “All I can say. Enjoy the now and keep what you have close. Better than to wonder about something that has infinite possibilities.”
"..(..I have myself I guess..)..." he clenched his hand with the gil then turned to look over to the blonde. He was going to speak, but instead he dropped his shoulders and refocused his eyes on the ground. "Right."
"Life is a funny thing." The blonde male said as he tossed a gil over to the brunnette male. "Never know how things will turn out even if you try."
He barely caught the gil, he hadn't expected to actually receive a gil and so he looked to the blonde with an inquiring look. "uh...I suppose that's true...(..not what I needed to hear...).." he looked at the gil, "(but I'll take it..).."
"Gil for your thoughts?"
"...(???)...just thinking...about life..."
"..(Not feeling well...).." sigh.
“Akkursed whelp! You are but a mere, lowly INSECT!”
At long last she is finally met with the one SeeD in particular that she despises. A hand lifts as claws are uncoiled, and point directly at him. “I will deliver upon you, a fate worse than DYING. Your suffering shall be delivered by my hand, alone!”
And with those words, her hand swipes sideways, sending a gust of wind directly at him. “You shall watch as I slay your friends! Your pathetik home, and any who ally themselves with you!”
"Tck...." Squall scowled and stood his ground, seemed like the dog days were over now. He dug the back of his heel and raised his gunblade to block and cut the gust of wind.
From one side to the other, he managed his gunblade expertly. Confidence in his skill and mastery of the blade, "No way I'm going to loose to a hag like you. It'll take more than a few mind tricks to get me."
His eyes narrowed, keeping his guard up and ready to counter whatever was next.
“Pathetik ingrates, kome forth. Kome to me,
and allow me to end your time.
SeeD, and allies alike;
I pick you bastards to die first.”
"Get real." he scowled at the sorceress, "Your threats are as empty as your head."
Warmth.
Snow free falls around her, as the chill of winter settles into her bones. Beautifully shaped flakes are scattered and stuck on the frozen grass, and road beneath her feet. Warm breaths that are let out, can be visibly seen, which only brings the ghost of a grin to her features. The portrait of winter is a favored scene of hers, as ice also dwells within her very veins.
Feet are at a stand still, as glacial blues merely gaze about herself. This land is new, and unfamiliar to her, yet amidst the snow, she finds comfort. Memories of a small town betwixt the mountains that a dear friend of hers held a liking to is brought to mind, as the distant smell of firewood burning fills her nostrils with the passing breeze.
All is silent, until the sound of metal scraping the ground snaps her out of her winter dreamland. That grin lowers, as she catches the sight of a male on the road. With silent steps, she is soon behind him. Arms folded across her chest, as she eyeballs him a moment longer.
"If you continue to drag that sword, it’s blade will dull."
He paused his search, the voice having caught him slightly off guard but instead of turning towards the woman he looked to his gunblade. "...(...I must of not realized I was dragging it....)...." he sighed, clearly he was tired. That wasn't an excuse to drag his precious weapon though; he looked briefly to the woman before turning his head away, "It's just snow."
He swung the blade, using the momentum to place it firmly on his shoulder; where it should of been before being scolded by the stranger. "...(...stranger....hn...I've never seen her around here...)..." he furrowed his brows and quietly thought to himself if he'd ever seen her before. Balamb was small, everyone knew each other so finding a stranger was a novelty thing. Not many people came to Balamb for reasons other than scholastic and military related, "...(..she doesn't look like a student....I don't think I've ever seen her around before....).."
The snow below him crunched under his boots as he turned around completely to face the girl. He was silent, his eyes trained coldly on her but he didn't display hostility towards her. As far as he could tell, she was not malevolent but he just couldn't help to be slightly apprehensive.
"Who are you?" he finally asked after a prolonged silence. He tried his best not to shiver when a sudden breeze blew by, it didn't help his clothes were soaked and nearly painfully clinging to his body. Despite the uncomfortable situation he was in, he remained entirely stoic before the girl.
Warmth.
Training in the snow was probably not one of Squall's greater ideas, he realized this as he walked back with his clothes soaking wet and chilling his skin. He expected something like this happening; snow was wet afterall, but he never imagined that he'd accidentally end up falling into a lake. He hugged himself and rubbed his arms to at least get some friction going.
He should of suspected something from the moment he'd noticed that dragging his gunblade on the ground was a lot easier than normally. He shook his head and simply continued on, he had enough physical training for today. Reading a book by the fireplace sounded much more appealing now than earlier when he had abandoned the idea for physical traning. He should of listened to that lazy thought, but at least it wasn't all in vain; his new junction set-up was delivering optimal results as predicted. Which made him just a bit excited to use it in combat someday.
"......(....where is my wallet....)...." he groaned and uselessly fished around his pockets for the wallet he'd most likely lost to the bottom of the lake, "...wonderful....."
“But in terms of being in the middle of a rather populated road, you could have chosen a better place to be.
That, and I’ve yet to actually bump into you.”
Dealing with guys like these were her specialty.
"Why don't you tell that to someone who cares." she was proving to be a headache and he was ready to run away, "Does it really even matter where I decide to stand or where others decide to walk?"
She smiled at his response and offered him a nod. Of course, she didn’t expect him to jump into the fray of people, but she knew he was trying. And that’s all she asked; just to try because that meant that he was slowly opening up in his own way.
”That’s fine.
—Guess you’re stuck with me here though.”
Her head turned and she offered him a quick wink.
"..............." he shook his head and looked away, "..how unlucky of me."
A soft chuckle escaped from her lips as she drew her legs up to her chin. Resting her head on her knees, she turned to look at him. She knew how Squall was, and she would never push him past what he was comfortable with. She wanted him to open up at his own pace.
“But I’m having fun here as well.
—And you’re always welcome to join us.”
"I'm fine watching." he acknowledged the invitation but he wasn't feeling up to make an effort to interact with random strangers, "....maybe some other time...."
He trailed off and fell into silence again. Part of him wanted to talk to Rinoa, but silence was much easier.
”Isn’t it more obvious to not be in a certain position where people could bump into you?”
"I am not in the way, there is plenty of space to walk and avoid me. You just chose to come here and bump into me." he rolled his eyes.
She sat down next to him, and offered a warm smile.
“Then I’ll just sit here with you.”
"Aren't you having more fun over there?" he didn't mind her sitting with him but he doubt she'd enjoy herself around him.
“— If you stand in the middle of the road like that,
someone will surely bump into you.”
"Isn't it obvious to evade obstacles when walking?"
