I like to think that the time during the time skip is used as a time of self discovery for kakashi. He kind of used team 7 as a way to drag himself as the abyss but while sasuke left & naruto & Sakura were training he was left to kind of look at himself as a person. It was time to decide who he wanted to be on his own because he sure was tired of being a soldier.

He started his own book, but never finished it. Took the time to spend with comrades he had reconnected with to try & rebuild relationships he tried to sever in his darkest times. Also he was sakura’s #1 fan and though they didn’t interact as much he did his best to check in with her now & again. He was endlessly proud of her, and I think they developed a stronger bond because they were the only two left in the village.

Nyways that’s my tea I’m going back to sleep
