[Ribbons pt. 2]

The Lineart;

(you can ignore this part since i wanted to take short breaks (procrastinating) to do a live commentary or writing down my thoughts as i drew this. join me in my thought process and procrastinating)

I have a lot of brushes, and I have 7 for lineart. I'll be using each one of them to lineart a bow, and the eighth one will be the default g-pen in CSP.

Let's get started!

[No.1]

This was a rough transition for me since I'm not used to it. The rough sketch phase was messy, using soft eraser, lasso, and the liquify tool. It took a while, and this is actually my second attempt doing the lineart for it.

The main problem I previously had with lineart is the thickness of my lines and it becomes noticeable when I would render. I use pen pressure, sure, but really didn't know how to control it. I was never confident in my lines so I keep redrawing the same line.

So I just messed with the settings and decided to stop being a perfectionist. As in doing lineart pretty zoomed in.

Second attempt came out looking creamy—I love it.

[No.2]

The bow had a simple design, so I figured, why not do its lineart with a heavy textured brush I have? I'm having fun here as I do the line weight and stuff.

Though, I'm starting to regret doing a too simple design on it.

[No.3]

The dreaded bunny bow.

It took a hot minute to work out the settings of this brush, mainly because it wasn't penciling. It's brush density problems apparently.

This is a second attempt since the first attempt had a much too big brush size in the first attempt.

Pfft, it turned out looking like a cartoon scribble.

It looks cute tho.

[No.4]

The brush I'm using here feels fantastic already for the butterfly bow.

I'm experiencing some kind of lag, dunno if it's the computer or the keyboard I recently bought.

[No.5]

So far, this brush I'm working with is the most difficult so far? Probably because I'm pretty zoomed in—that's my mistake but I have a bad habit of zooming in when filling in details in the lineart. I'm working on it but old habits die hard, unfortunately.

I just realized at the end of the lineart of this one that I forgot to turn off the rough sketch layer when I was finishing up the lineart—whoops!

I redo the numbers more than the linearts btw.

[No.6]

Aye—I'm not doing justice to this one on this piece.

I'll make an illustration for it on a later date when I have time with the recent circumstance I'm in.

Also I made the lines thicker than what I wanted them to be but I'm lazy to redo the entire thing.

[No.7]

I ran out of brushes that does lineart and this is the one that on the top of the brush/pen in Clip Studio Paint—just trying it out for lineart.

You can tell I'm winging this now.

ACTUALLY ITS PRETTY HELLO?

[No.8]

It's been a while since I touched the default brush pen for linearts. As in, ever since I discovered the other brushes.

Midway through, I was changing up my pen pressure settings since my wrist is killing me.

It feels a bit naked at first since I'm way too used to textured brushes/pens now or have their opacity lowered down for a more softer feel during rendering before—as it went on, it became very satisfying seeing my clean lines and the pen pressure setting change helped! By far, this is the cleanest lineart I made out of the other bows :3

OKAY SO—

Final thoughts;

My favorite one is No.1 since it looks the softest and to me, and I feel like it'll be easy to render with but its too early to tell since I haven't done or even started yet so I guess I'll see.

No.4 is amazing in line weight btw, especially I'm not adding it in afterwards.

For No.2, I think I only got that brush for its texture since I was doing a horror-esque illustration before my hiatus on drawing.

Pretty sure I didn't do No.3, No.5-7 justice so I'll probably do a drawing and lineart them with those brushes near future.

[Ribbons pt. 1]

(sorry this is taking too long, had a storm in my area before and an emergency came up)

I had fun when doing these free-handed and just going by my imagination and the ribbons I knew so far. Except the ribbon in the bottom left corner—the bunny bow. That's currently the bane of my existence.

Did I start this whole thing because of the bunny bow? Yes. Yes, I did. I started from spite, and I shall finish this with spite.

But it's fun learning from references, currently, about ribbons. This is my current rough sketch, with references now compared to my free hand attempt at first.

I just returned to drawing digitally after my laptop got fixed, can you tell? Funny enough, my hand and wrist hurt more than when I'd tier—because I forgot one specific feature/tool.

ANYWAY

Next up will be lineart and attempting to render them. Again, it's been a while since I touched drawing. so I have no idea how to render anymore. If it's just lineart, then I'd be fine.

Maybe.

Heads up, it's been a year since I touched Clip Studio Paint so I'll be messing around with the brushes I have hoarded before. And I hoarded a lot it seems, and installed a lot.

This is take a while to go through.

Not for lineart, I think? I'mma just cycle through them to see what the brushes look like for lineart.

For rendering? I have a bunch of brushes there so let's not go there yet.

That will be the problem for past me.

I fucking give up on proseka. Hashtag shitseka from how shitty it is <- pure unbridled haterisms at not being able to play the game cuz of the FUCKING UPDATES and when I decide to just tank it with my mobile data, I get hit with 3 minutes of waiting for the FIRST loading screen, 5 fucking minutes of the SECOND loading screen, update of 268MB. Oh your connection hiccuped? Well here's 3 fucking error warnings at how you lost your connection, failed to connect, failed to authenticate account (Due to the failed connection). Go the Fuck back to the loading screen, Do Not Pass Go, waste 10 minutes + .10 gb of mobile data cuz Fuck You for not having a WI-FI connection.

I don't trust words.

You get scolded for not doing something. Yet you still get scolded for doing something.

Which is it? Which do I trust? Not my common sense apparently.

Am I even sure to trust my own common sense? Common isn't always common. Also I'm not a mind reader, thank you.

You know the norm detailed descriptors of character features:

— soft blue eyes twinkling

— pink plump lips

— dark curls fell over

— naturally pale skin and natural blush

Instead of that, why don't I describe a character with:

— radioactive green eyes

— dry, cracked lips looking like an entire desert on the face

— hair so oily that it could be dripped in a frying fan

This is what I can come up but I promise I'll find something better to make my readers start thinking a character will be straight up radiating radiation with their eyes later in the chapters.
