rowoon felt his chest rising, a sense of pride filling him as he watched xiang talk to the worker. as much as he wanted to protect the other, and keep him away from everyone and from getting flustered and anxious, he also wanted him to have his independence, and to be able to be out in the ‘real world’ alone if he ever needed to be. which was why he hesitated when he realised what xiang meant. hair chains. rowoon quickly gave the shop a look, spotting the silver  chains in a second. he flickered the hand that wasn’t on xiang’s back, sending an air current to the display that made things around it rattle, catching the worker’s attention. he let out a soft sigh as understanding filled the worker’s expression. it’s worked.

  as the worker’s expression suddenly changed to a smile and they bid xiang an understanding nod, the boy felt himself fill with excitement and pride. he turned to rowoon, his face full of joy and excitement. “ it worked ! ” he stated cheerfully, then turning back to the store keeper who pointed him in the right direction. xiang skipped over, grabbed a packet, and skipped back, handing them to the cashier along with cash that he dug in his pocket for. “ bohai will love these. ” he stated, watching the cashier scan the gift with an elated smile, bouncing on his feet in pure anticipation. “ thank you ! ” he said, bowing and turning back to rowoon.

jinwoo felt like being around yin xiang was the best feeling in the world. this boy had brought a sense of happiness back into his life. he made him smile, something he hadn’t done outside of the animal shelter since somi had left. xiang made jinwoo feel warm, made his heart race. currently they were both outside eating a lunch near the beach. xiang had told some sort of joke and jinwoo was trying to hide his smile from the other. “  that wasn’t funny… ”

  hanging out with jinwoo was normal for xiang at this point. the two became friends quickly and didn’t waste time in hanging out. xiang felt he could easily trust him, like he felt with most people. “ it w-wasn’t ? ” xiang questioned, his smile dropping as the other spoke. he had heard the joke from another, and found it rather amusing, and in wanting to make jinwoo laugh, he repeated it. although the older was laughing, his words were contradictory, and brough a blush to xiang’s cheeks, making him duck his head in embarrassment. “ i-i thought it was pretty funny. ” he mumbled.

  “ i-i’m not shy. i love m-making friends! i get n-nervous sometimes, i guess, but th-that’s just because some people made me f-feel like i had to be while i was g-growing up. ”

  “ i-internally? uhm, i s-struggle with figuring s-stuff out and remembering. i’m not that s-smart. ”

  “ it d-depends on the person. some p-people like advice, some people l-like a silent shoulder to cry on. you just n-need to figure out what they w-want and give it t-to them. ”

taijin frowned as he noticed the exchanged, xiang was struggling to get across what he wanted to say in korean and he knew that struggle all too well traveling to various countries. thankfully tai knew a flurry of languages, about twenty two at that but only up to 6 or 7 fluently. he smiled softly putting his own hair dye down to help, “what do you need?” he said, speaking to the other and chinese so he could feel a bit at ease and able to communicate better.

  xiang’s expression lit up as he heard something that he found familiar, sending a feeling of comfort through his body that managed to calm him a little. “ you s-speak chinese ? ” he asked in relief as he smiled. “ i’m looking for hair chains. i don’t know if they sell them here. ” he explained, the language rolling off of his tongue easily in comparison to his wobbly korean. xiang felt immediately at ease, stepping back so that tai could explain the cashier what it was he wanted.

Waiting patiently in line to purchase a few headbands, Jinsoo couldn’t help but notice and overhear the struggle Xiang was having at the counter. He furrowed his brows in concentration as he tried to listen in to what exactly was going on. “Hey…” Moving from his place in line he came in attempt to be of some kind of help. “Is everything alright? What are you trying to look for?” He questioned as he leaned onto the counter.

  xiang jumped as the other interjected, worried that he was about to get yelled at for holding up the line and taking so much time. “ i-i’m really s-sorry-- ” he started, although he was cut off by the other surprisingly trying to help. “ i f-forgot the word. they’re like ... bracelets. they go in your hair. ” he tried to explain again, praying that the stranger would understand. xiang was incredibly appreciative of the help, but he still couldn’t help but get embarrassed at how much fuss he was causing.

tai smiled brightly noticing the boys flustered demeanor and the feeling gave him a little warmth in his chest, “yah you take them all the time, so i just thought you’d want some more, i’m sorry if chasing you down was weird though,” taijin added with a soft giggle, “oh no, you don’t have to bow,” he began though he did it in response, “please thank you is enough, by the way i see you all the time but i never catch your name, i’m tai-jin, call me tai,” the shorter male stuck out his small hand, lavender eyes glittering with fondness and appreciation.

  “ they’re p-pretty. ” he nodded shyly, bringing his face to gently brush the petals so that he could smell them. “ a-and i enjoy seeing you, even if we d-don’t know each other. ” he explained, grinning brightly at the other, whom he found to be very cute and interesting. he actually quite secretly admired him, but was happy with only seeing him on the occasions he came with flowers. “ it’s okay, i-it’s manners. ” he chirped with a smile, intent on being polite. “ still, th-thank you. ” he said once again. “ i-i’m xiang. ” he introduced, shaking the other’s hand excitedly.

rowoon hung back near the door after having walked inside behind xiang, bowing to the workers as he watched the other move over to the counter. his eyes followed xiang, wanting to make sure he was okay but also not wanting to intrude in his interactions, after all, practise makes perfect. his lips pressed into a line as he frowned at xiang’s difficulty, knowing it wasn’t easy for him, he moved over closer to the other, placing his hand on his lower back gently in a supportive gesture. he smiled gently at the person behind the counter before looking at xiang, “ it’s okay, take it easy xi, take your time and explain what you want, okay? “ rowoon tried encouraging him, standing as close as he could to xiang, “ you can do it. “ 

  xiang could feel his breath getting quick and his cheeks growing pink, as well as his throat closing up in fear an embarrassment. however, rowoon’s hand on his back, and his soothing voice in his ears, calmed him almost instantly. he took a deep breath, looking over at the other and finding relaxing qualities in his eyes. slowly, he nodded and gained his courage. “ t-they’re silver. they h-hang in your h-hair. usually they-they go around y-your neck. or y-your wrist. ” he hoped that was enough for the worker to understand, or at least for rowoon to understand and tell the worker what he meant. “ i saw them online. ” he finished explaining, managing a smile as he nodded, happy with his efforts.

Although not paying much attention initially, completely focused on her drawing, the words ‘sketchbook’ and 'lost’ piqued her interest and she raised her head to actually look at him. “I haven’t seen it, but do you remember where you last saw it?” She questioned; her hand had ceased its sketching, now resting over the book.

  “ ah, um ... ” xiang scratched his head, thinking hard for a moment, even though he had been trying to do so all day. “ no. ” he admitted. “ i had it yesterday but ... it’s not in any of the places i was. ” he explained. his face controting in a look of concentration as he tried to search his memory. “ i think i must have dropped it. ” xiang’s sketchbook was important to him. he had worked hard on his art, and above all, it told a story. everything that ever happened in his life was represented in that book, through art. it was the one thing ( other than bohai ) that calmed him down when he was scared or frustrated.

bohai watched his twin supportively from the doorway, he chewed at his lip as he watched the other fumble for the word knowing he had to let xiang be independent and work it out alone, he had came along to try and be a comforting presence without guiding too much. “you’re doing great xi” he murmured with an encouraging nod as the other stumbled a little, heart aching slightly for his twin as languages had never been his strong point but despite his struggle he kept plugging away at the barrier, it made bohai much prouder than whether he could do it or not. “do you want me to help?” he whispered to the other softly, never wanting to take over unless xiang decided it and squeezed xiang’s hand reassuringly.

  xiang had asked bohai to wait at the door, since he wanted his gift to be a surprise. as they were out shopping, xiang had suddenly remembered what he had seen online and decided to ask around for them, since he thought his brother would really enjoy them. currently, he could feel his heart racing as his brain suddenly blanked. xiang gulped down the lump in his throat upon hearing bo’s supportive words, although he could feel his cheeks getting pink with embarrassment. not only was he holding up the cashier, but he was also ( yet again ) in need of his brother’s help and ( yet again ) being burdensome. xiang grew shy, gripping bohai’s hand and giving up, turning to the other and slipping into his fluent chinese tongue. “ they’re chains for your hair. ” he explained comfortably to his brother, a little upset that he had spoiled the surprise.

  After the bully ran, her eyes noticed the drawing scattering in the wind. She knew she wasn’t suppose to use her elemental powers but she did. Using the air, to bring them all back into one place. Her ears pricked and she went back to the male. “A bit of blood doesn’t kill me you know. You on the other hand, should see the nurse or Minyi if they haven’t hired a new nurse yet.”

  xiang fumbled to pick up the papers once they were all neatly together, bowing and thanking the girl politely. “ i-i don’t need a nurse. ” he shook his head, waving her off. “ i’m not h-hurt. ” xiang bi the girl a smile, attempting to convince her that he was fine. “ don’t w-worry. this always h-happens. ” he said shyly, almost embarrassed at how weak he must have seemed, and definitely embarrassed at how he needed saving.

chae looked at him with a small smile, “are you sure sir? it won’t be a problem, i can make it really quick?” he pressed a bit knowing that if he let him leave his boss would probably have the biggest fit when he messed up the order in the first place. he sighed when he insisted shaking his head as he tossed the cup into the bin next to him, and to his luck dropping the fuck cup off coffee on the floor. “ugh, damnit,” he sighed again looking at the spill, he could feel tears brimming in his golden eyes as his temper rose, “c-can i get you anything else? i’m so sorry the service was poor, let me offer you a complimentary cake pop or danish for your troubles?” his voice cracked at the end and he found himself flexing and clenching his hand behind the counter

xiang shook his head, a little flustered at the insistence of the other. “ r-really, it’s okay. unless y-you need to sell more, in which case i’ll have one t-to help you out ! ” xiang smiled, nodding encouragingly. he felt a pang in his own chest as he could sense the intensity of the other’s emotion increasing, feeling tears spring to his eyes to match the other’s. “ please don’t … don’t be u-upset. ” xiang practically begged, it breaking his heart to see someone else in such a state. suddenly, he decided to put aside the ‘rules’ he tried to stick by, and help as much as he could. “ here, give me your h-hand. ” he asked, holding out his own for the boy to take.

  “ h-hello. ” xiang bowed in greeting as he entered the store, approaching the person at the counter in the hopes of getting some help. “ d-do you sell ... uhm ... ” xiang’s heart sank a little as he suddenly forgot the word in korean. he had never been the best at learning anything really, languages proving to be the most difficult challenge. as the word escaped him, he continued to make noises and flail his hands around in an attempt to explain. “ they’re ... for your hair ... silver ... aiyo ... ” xiang slipped into chinese in his anguish, sighing and looking defeated. “ n-nevermind. ”
