ok i see the coco/qifrey and olruggio/agott parallels, but i raise you: the olruggio/coco parallels. sun coded. obvious natural love for magic tainted by traumatic event they blame themselves for that demands mastery of magic so they can avoid making the same mistake in the future. extremely talented at drawing spells but only ever draws for others. feels unreasonable amount of responsibility for everyone around them. able to worm qifrey’s secret out of him. left home for “greater” things and shows signs of dearly missing it but can’t go back. a beacon to those around them but clearly collapsing under the weight of it. so selfless that it circles around to selfishness. keeps secrets better than one would expect. creates hope in hopeless situations through the power of gay fucking audacity. believes in the goodness of others, despite everything it costs them. and of course, i raise you agott/qifrey parallels. moon coded. often makes selfish decisions that end up helping others anyway and feels guilty about it. has spent their whole life chasing after the ghost of something they don’t know how to leave alone. wants so dearly to be loved unabashedly and with open arms but would probably disintegrate if that were to actually happen. carries an enormous, aimless, bone-deep guilt and sorrow that they are terrified they cannot live without. has been hurt many times over and so protects their happiness fiercely in return. they can never return to their past and they never want to. has a long, strained history with magic yet loves it dearly in spite of that. holds the few people important to them tightly in their heart. qifrey is so good with coco because she is just like olly was. olly is good with agott because she is just like qifrey was. in this essay i will
