the most important thing to me ever is bi kids knowing that it’s ok to be 10% attracted to women and 90% attracted to men or 10% attracted to men and 90% attracted to women and still feeling ok to identify as bi, and still feeling like their identity is valid, and still feeling like they can lead fulfilling lives with both (or other) genders. like that’s just so fricking important.

it’s also important to remember that it can be a fluid % like sometimes it’ll be 50/50 some times 10/90 and then drift into a 45/65 or even 2/98 and it’s still okay. It’s just where you are at that time in your life.

It’s also okay not to know the exact ratio. Sometimes it’s just “lots of people are hot.” (And you’re not bad or a stereotype if you have crushes on multiple people at once! That’s actually really normal. For anybody.) Or sometimes it’s “I’m not attracted to very many people but it could be more than one gender if it happens.” Sometimes it’s “X is likely but Y has been known to happen, but I’d hardly call that a good sample size and/or I don’t want to do the math.” Basically, there’s pretty much no wrong way to be bisexual.

image what life would’ve been like if colonists had just kept to themselves? what would’ve happened if everybody just established their cultures in one place and admired others from afar and didn’t force religion or other ideas on one another? what if everybody just accepted that there’s different cultures and that’s ok? i think humans have this natural inclination to conquer but it just would’ve been interesting to see what would’ve happened to the Native Americans of the north, central, and South America’s if the Spaniards and Europeans had not almost completely enslaved and destroyed them. what about the Africans as well? what rich cultures could we have preserved if everybody just kept their hands to themselves?

i only got to visit New Zealand

for a short while, but one of my favorite historical facts is that one of the reasons the Maori people weren’t completely destroyed by british settlers is that it’s just so goshdang far away from england. like the british royal navy at the time prolly could’ve subdued native Maori people, but they were just like, “but it’s so… far. let’s just stay in for once. we’ve already got the west indies. let ‘em keep those fuckall islands at the bottom of the world. what have they got? a flightless bird? some weird trees? forget it.” 

and now the maori people are still going. like sure, there’s been some white treaty-breaking nonsense, but at least they’re not all shoved to the edge of a desert and denied basic health care like they are in america. all because some uppercrust brit was finally just like “nah”
