I never actually said that loudly on this blog, so here

I have to warn y’all that my Caren portrayal is very different from what you’d see in Prillya, Carnival Phantasm or even Hollow Ataraxia.

She knows there is something up with her. She can feel herself enjoying other people's suffering, like Kirei did, but she does her best to fight it, fight off the demons inside of her, because her mother was a real angel and she wants to honour her memory.

When she was a child she used to ask about her father a lot. Her caretakers, God, anyone. What was he like, why did he choose to leave her behind, but after years and years of asking she just accepted the fact she's not getting an answer. And this is why she is so in love with Rin.

Caren just... sees herself in Rin a lot. A lonely, abandoned child, but at the same time, Rin knows Kirei so much better than Caren and can tell her everything and Caren just sees Rin as some kind of an angel, sent to her by God, after countless prayers. Someone who will understand her, answer her questions and maybe, just maybe, save her soul.

Can we talk about how much my Caren is in love with Rin. Rin is the first person ever that Caren thought could understand her. They have so many similarities. The loneliness of a child raised without parents, the ambition, the need of being as good as they can, to impress their dead parents. Caren believes that Rin is the answer for all the prayers she made.

Often the brunette magus would visit the graveyard, usually bringing flowers or even a little jeweled creature to place at the graves. She was wearing her red turtleneck with black skirt and stockings. Hair tied up in twin tails with her favorite black ribbons. This section of the cemetery was often empty, for it was where the Christians in Fuyuki were buried and not many of those existed in Japan. Her mind and face blank as she stood in front of her parents headstones, a bouquet of white lilies in her arms.

After a while of being lost in her day dreams she finally placed the bouquet down on her mother’s grave, and she pulled a crystal horse, much like the one her father made her long ago, on top of the headstone next to the previous. Her hand running along the cold stone and over the engraving of his name. She stood up, turning to leave when she noticed a somewhat familiar face walking towards her. She was surprised she hadn’t noticed her sooner.

“Caren?” She was a little puzzled, not expecting her to visit such a place, though she was curious if she was looking for a grave.

A quick look on the graves was enough for the priestess to understand, that it was the place where Tohsaka Rin’s parents were buried. Her golden eyes seemed to look through the brunette’s soul. They were so... similar. Suffering the same fate of a young child forced to grow up without their parents. Caren wasn’t long in Fuyuki and there was much things she had to learn about it’s citizens, about the masters of another War. At last, she was supposed to be their mediator. “Good afternoon.” She spoke in her usual, kind and calm tone, thought her face was cold, not showing any emotions at all. She was always scared of showing emotions, just since she remembered. Her fingers tightened on the umbrella she was holding. Finally, she took a deep breath and turned away from the Tohsaka mage.

“I was just heading towards the church, to drink something cold. It’s quite warm today. Would you like some, too?”

The day was sunny, and yet, there was an umbrella over the pirestess’ head, her body fully covered with clothes. Gloves, long boots, not even a little part of her body was exposed for the sunlight. And there she thought, that Fuyuki will be less sunny than Torino where she used to live her whole life. A graveyard was not the most pleasant place for a walk, some would say, but she felt quite good, wandering, and reading the names carved in stone. There was one, special grave she was looking for.

言峰綺礼 She wasn’t the best in reading kanji, still learning about the language of her father, but he knew his name, and recognized it as soon as it caught her attention. It took her a few minutes, standing and staring at it. She didn’t pray. She just... Wondered. What if he’d see her now. Would he even recognize her? Then her walk continued. Until it was interrupted by a person - another girl visiting the graveyard. “Tohsaka-san.”
