youâre yelling? at ME? the one person who has never done anything wrong ever?????
âAt least Iâm not alone, thank Merlin.â Sometimes it amazed her what her and Sirius had in common, though a love of fire and wanting to raze such a place to the ground wouldnât really be considered uncommon as far as she was concerned. âOh, I heard her alright. I try to stay away from her if I can. Though you can hear the screaming all through the house soâŚâ Most of what she heard being screamed from the painting she shrugged off. It wasnât anything worse than she had heard growing up, but every once in awhile it would hit a chord within her and it wasnât like she had any place she could really go. She was cooped up in this house as much as Sirius, really. Still, Buckbeak tended not to be such bad company as long as you brought him some food and got over the smell of him. The ginger looked down and grinned before looking up at him, âThat a promise? Wouldnât want to miss out on it. Especially if it meant leaving school.âÂ
âJust ignore her. Or you can mess with the painting the way I do. She hates it when I throw mashed potatoes at her, itâs wonderful. Cathartic, really. Give it a try sometime.â    He smiles back. Heâs not one for showing affection anymore â at least, not to people who arenât Harry, but heâs always enjoyed her presence. He wonders if she knows how much it helps some days. âOf course itâs a promise! Iâll probably get you to help me set it up, and itâll definitely be during school hours. I might be an old man now, but Iâm still a delinquent at heart, you know.â

âI assumed so; otherwise he would be here waiting and notupstairs.â Returning to the living room Accalia resumed taking her seat on thefloor where she had been seated while working on her research but the book andpapers forgotten as her gaze was on him. âYeah I do, a bit cranky, his loversare the books. The perfect escape I guess.â
Still watching him, she could tell that something was up,probably even bothering him but Sirius was closer, much closer to Remus than toher. She was closer to his friends but not as they were close with each otherbesides she was three years older than them.
Glancing at her books, she shrugged. âNot too bad, stuck abit on a few ingredients but doing some progress.â
Armsâ crossing on the couch Accalia was once again studyingSirius and this time actually decided to talk. âGo on, just spill it outSirius, there is something bothering you isnât it? I know I am not James, I amnot my brother but you know me and I know you. Maybe I can help?â
âI think itâs cool,â he says. âAll the research youâre doing.â    Heâs not really sure how to come across as sincere, but the intent is there at least. They sit in silence for a while, Sirius looking down at the mess of research papers on the desk. He can feel Accaliaâs eyes on him, and knows how awkward the situation is getting. Thereâs no real way to redeem it â the silence is stretching on, and he canât find anything to say.    And then, unfortunately, Accalia speaks. He closes his eyes for a moment and takes a quiet breath. He doesnât want to talk about it, usually. Itâs tiring, dragging up the same old shit all the time. But, in light of everything thatâs happened tonight, he finds that, for once, he really wants someone to listen.

The last thing Sirius wants to do is get a part time job in a flower shop. Heâd much rather a garage, where he can at least swipe parts for his motorbike.    Unfortunately, his reputation means that his options are limited, and Iruka is the only one in town crazy enough to hire kids like Sirius.    And so here he is, stalling outside the front door, almost late for his first day. Sirius would never admit it, but he's actually a little nervous. What kind of freak specifically hires kids who've served time in juvenile hall, or who have a criminal record? He'd seemed nice enough during the interview, but maybe Iruka was secretly a serial killer, and Sirius' body is going to be harvested and turned into fertiliser... or something. Either way, he figures there's only one way to find out.    A small bell rings above his head as he steps in. He's always hated the overbearing, almost-cloying smell of a florist, but there's not much he can do except suck it up. His parents have made it very clear that Iruka's shop is his Last Chance To Fix Himself before he'd be out on the street, or shipped to some kind of boarding school that sounds more like a correctional facility. He's got half a mind to try and call his parent's bluff, bt he's not an idiot. He's not made any friends around here, and he'd never survive on his own. So, his only option is to be nice to Iruka until his contract is over, or he's brutally murdered in the back shed and fed to the plants. Whichever comes first.    'Uh, Iruka?' he calls, approaching the counter. 'I'm here.'
Accalia had been in the living room with a few books openedin the coffee table as she searched a few things, made a few notes in a paperon the side, the house was calm and quiet, her brother was in her room andtheir parents were in the kitchen, as there was a knock on the door Accaliasighed as she pushed herself up and went to answer the door.
Of course, she was surprised as she saw Sirius standing there;she raised an eyebrow looking at her brotherâs friend. .
âHey SiriusâŚ.â As he walked right pass her she rolled hereyes and closed the door behind her. âMake yourself at home; he is upstairs, probably reading. Why?â
As far as she knew they didnât had anything planned, otherwise Remus wouldnât be in his room reading, he would be in the living roomwaiting for his friend and probably giving one or two adviceâs on Accaliaâsresearch.
âWant me to go get him?â
âNah, itâs all right, I wonât disturb him yet. Itâs sort of a spontaneous visit, so -â  he shrugs, wandering into the living room. Accaliaâs research material, as usual, is spread across the table. He takes a seat, careful not to disturb any of it. âYou know how he gets when someone interrupts his reading.â    Sirius probably should have owled ahead, or something. His ingrained manners are screaming at him for inviting himself over, but isnât the whole point of his situation now that heâs able to do whatever he wants? That he no longer has to ascribe to pureblood mannerisms?    He wants to tell Accalia whatâs happened. Sheâs older and mature, so she must know what to do in situations like this. But he canât find the words yet.    âHowâs it going?â Sirius asks instead, nodding toward the papers.
Eâven as he said his name he pursed his lips in the manner that he did. His eyes narrowed as he continued to hold his wand tightly, ready to act should it come to it. âIf it was in your face, I assure you, youâd know, Black.â He spat his name with an air of disgust.
Naturally he was incredibly skilled with wandless magic, not that he wanted everyone to actively know the information. His knuckles white around his wand.
âFriendship.â He spat the word with distain. âAfter all the years of torment, of disrespect you think I care what it is you are trying to do. Think I will believe the petty excuses that spew from your mouth.â
Severusâ tone was a vast contrast to Siriusâ his own dark and seething with hatred.
âYâknow, Severus, as you so insist on being called, this might be why you have no friends. People decide to try and change their ways, extend the hand of friendship, start anew and all that, and you throw it back at us. Someone as unpopular as you are, Iâd have thought youâd be grateful, hm?â    Sirius is, of course, completely disregarding the fact that he and James are a very large part of why Severus is so disliked. His abrasive personality and reclusive tendencies have helped things along nicely, but Sirius and James have always been rather persuasive.    He folds his arms. âIâm beginning to feel a little put out. Iâd hate to have to teach you a lesson about being nicer to people.â

Sirius isnât sure if heâs having the best day ever, or the worst day ever. On one hand, heâs run away and been disowned. On the other hand, this means he never has to see his family again. As freeing as that knowledge is, thereâs something inherently terrifying in the knowledge that he has no house or income to fall back on if he needs something.    Heâs keen to visit James and share his victories -- because James, he knows, will see it as a victory -- but Remus is closer, and a little more tame in close quarters. His knack for problem-solving, he knows, will be much more helpful to him right now.    When he knocks on Remusâ door, however, someone else opens it.    âOh, hey, Accalia. Can I come in?â Not waiting for an answer, he makes his way inside. âHow have you been? Is Remus around?â
SQUISHES THE CUTE SIRIUS CHEEKS.
âCareful, youâll mess up my contour â !!â
"That's, um---dramatic. Maybe you should slow down on the gummy worms. Let's do that. Give me those."
Sirius hisses at Iruka and scuttles away, leaving a trail of gummy worms behind him.
Sirius Black was born in 1959, so he turned 17 in 1976. Do you know what else happened in 1976?
âAs much as fire is usually a first resort with me, I canât say I have. Perhaps I could practice here? Burn down this whole rubbish place. All it does is make you sad anyway. Even the name is horrible. Grimmauld Place. Who names a house that?âÂ
âThereâs nothing Iâd love more than to watch this place burn,â he assures her, âespecially that awful painting in the hallway. Did you hear her this morning? Woke me up, the hag. But unfortunately, the Order needs a base, and this is the best we have right now. As soon as Moody finds something better, youâll be the first person I invite to a spontaneous bonfire party.â
âOnly because we are accustomed to brooms,â Lupin said, taking a seat on an upturned bucket outside the shed in which the smoldering remains of Siriusâ bike. Heâd managed  to get most of the soot out of his eyes, and after heâd muttered a simple cleaning charm and aimed his wand at himself, the rest was siphoned away. âStill, there is a good chance it can be repaired. Weâve only to work out how to stop the charms placed on it from meddling with the machinery.â Sighing Remus glanced back at the shed, from which a slight odor of smoke was billowing. âShall we give it another go?â
Sirius waves his wand halfheartedly at the motorbike, trying to dissipate the smoke faster. His excitement for the project is waning a little, deterred by multiple failures and the realisation that he has little to no idea what heâs doing anyway. But, of course, his moods have always had a tendency to fluctuate, his interests jumping from one ambition to the other. He figures that, to keep his motivation alive, it might be time for a new approach.    âHex me if I ever say this again,â he looks over at Remus, âbut maybe we should do some reading on motorbikes first.â
@justatigerlily¡:
The red head paused for a moment to watch him her lips peeled back in a devious little grin. âOh, it was my doing alright.â she agreed. âThe tosser, said I wasnât as fast as he was with a wand, because he plays Quidditch, I had to educate him on the folly of his ways.â she laughed âIt does look dastardly doesnât it ?â she sighed âUsually your in Potterâs corner , did he do something stupidâŚâ she paused âstupider than normal ?â
Sirius raises an eyebrow in her direction. âMy, Evans, is that concern I hear? Worry not, dear, our marriage is going splendidly. Weâre still head-over-heels in love with each other and all that,â he winks, âbut I can appreciate a good hex when I see it. And James has a terrible case of foot-in-mouth syndrome. A duck bill or two wonât hurt him in the long run, Iâm sure.â
