Hy Vee had mangoes on sale today, so a grabbed a bunch and thought, hey, treat for Lizard, why not.

So I top his salad with mango bits. He regards this with deep reptilian suspicion.

But he also knows that if it’s in my hand then it is Noms (he is not correct in this, but it will not stop him trying to eat, for example, his hide that I am replacing after cleaning it, because IN MAMMAL HAND = NOMS ALWAYS.)

(Herbert, while smarter than my snakes, is still not a particularly clever animal.)

Anyway, after blindly going for a mango chunk offered on fingertip, Herbert apparently decided that YES THIS IS BEST FRUIT and ate it off the top of his greens without touching the actual greens and is now staring at me accusingly.

(He’s not getting more. I am stronger than this. I will not be stared down be a small lizard that wants fruit.)

(I will not.)
