REGULAR DAYDREAMS VS MALADAPTIVE DAYDREAMS

Maybe you’ve seen this image. Maybe it was the reason you pursued research on maladaptive daydreaming as a whole. To be blunt, this image is wrong, and falsely displays what maladaptive daydreaming actually is. Misinformation like this is constantly breeding on sites like Tumblr and has misled countless people into thinking they have a mental disorder that they do not.

This post exists to go over some of the common reasons why people would falsely believe they are a maladaptive daydreamer, or why they believe it is the same as regular daydreaming. Hopefully it will be able to clarify what maladaptive daydreaming truly is and the danger it causes.

I have relied on real statistics and information in order to make this post, but because of the nature of this disorder and the few professional psychologists that have acknowledged it some parts may need clarification.

Once again more high school / edgelord x nerd au. 

Benatar has a fight with his mom and gets locked out in the rain. He goes to the nerd for shelter and he gives him some dry clothes, soup and hot chocolate. 

Then he puts on a racing game and goes easy on the Brit, who is still trying his hardest to stay in 1st place. 

I have something written for this but it will probably never see the light of day.
