Ann’s sixth sense was finding sweet goods, so naturally, when a stranger passed her by with a bag full of them she couldn’t just leave this case open like this.

“–Wait up!”

“Ah, like where did you get those cakes? They smell and look delicious! I’m totally jealous right now.”

Working in a bakery certainly had it’s perks. Namely taking home any leftovers. It was a good way to make sure things didn’t go to waste. And honestly ruining Shion’s eating habits.

So when a young lady asked where to find them it was easy enough for him to reach in and offer a muffin to her. A blueberry muffin to be specific.

“Oh the bakery I work at.. it’s closed for the evening but you can have this or... anything in this bag.” He shifted the brown paper bag towards her, “You’ve got a good nose” Reminded him of Inukashi.

Alright this was Shion’s like seventh cup of coffee of the day. Honestly, he was probably starting to feel a little too hyped up. But he’d been up the previous night tossing and turning. He wanted so badly for there to be a thunderstorm just so he could get some of his energy out. And well some of his frustration. He missed his meaningful work, he missed really helping people as a whole. He hadn’t realized just how fulfilling his work was until it wasn’t there anymore.

He hadn’t realized how much hurt he’d been filing away with city plans and infrastructure reports. He wanted rain on his face, something that almost forced him to close his eyes.

So after pacing in his room, which reminded him almost too much of his room in Chronos. So when it was a more respectable time, 9 am seemed enough, he slipped downstairs to the waterpark. It was an amazing amenity the hotel had to offer it’s tenants. Since it was bright and sunny outside, the chlorine laden spray of some of the water park attractions.

Honestly he had expected to be by himself. The person caught his eye right as his he was about to let out some of the frustration into the spray of a water slide. He froze and maintained eye contact curious as to why someone else was up so early at the water park. His brain though, which had been awake for over 24 hours, couldn’t quite figure out a way to turn that confusion into actual words. So he ended up just staring at him, exhausted, dripping wet, and shaking a bit.

On, what he hoped to be rare, days off Shion liked learning about the city. The layout, the politics, and the history. He didn’t get the general uncomfortable feeling about this city, like he had about home. Which was, all things considered, a very good thing. But that also meant he didn’t feel needed. His jobs were busy work and while he was grateful, they were menial. He wandered around with a notebook, making note of interesting and slightly odd parts of the city. He tried, and mostly succeeded, in restraining himself from immediately going in depth as soon as he made note of them.

A big portion of this list were the sheep. And after passing probably his fifteenth sheep of the day he knelt down to eye level with it. Staring intently he tried to note any unusual qualities about this particular sheep. Unfortunately for whoever was nearby, he felt the need to share his theories with them.

“Do you think.... there’s as many sheep as there seem in this city... or do you think there’s just a few that follow you around. And if the later is true, than do you think they do something with that information?”

Right off the back Shion was quite content with the amount of work that was given to him in this city. As well as how cohesively the whole city seemed to run. With two jobs, and going back to school it hardly left him any free time.And that was just the way he liked it. No time left to think about what he’s been through or who he’s lost in the process. The most distressing about this place was not being able to find his mother. Or even Inukashi or Rikiga. Worry for his friends shook him in the moments out of work.

Just as in this moment, at the Albacore Aquarium watching the ecosystems of fish interact and thrive even if behind thick glass. He wondered if the fish felt the same sort of out of placeness he felt in this city. Yes it was a good, thriving habitat. But was it home?

As always he was completely in his head, leaning a bit too close to the glass and thinking too hard. He gently and accidentally bumped his head into the glass. The moment of surprise was enough to snap him out of his thoughts and move to the next exhibit. Something on jellyfish. It was a darker room and he ran right into someone, like the clutz he was.

“Oh I’m so sorry. Are you alright?”
