In your opinion, what kind of parents would Angeal, Genesis, Sephiroth, Zack, and Cloud be?
Hey, it's a curious question, but okay, I'll try to answer based on my thoughts. So:
Angeal: Probably the best parent of the group. Angeal would be the kind of father who almost never raises his voice, but whose look alone is enough to let you know when you've done something wrong. He'd be authoritative but incredibly loving. His greatest strengths would be teaching discipline, responsibility, compassion, and respect for others. He'd always be there for the important moments, focusing on passing down values rather than ambitions, and he'd protect his children without smothering them. He'd teach them how to stand on their own while making sure they never felt abandoned.
As for flaws, I think he'd expect a lot from himself and, as a result, from his children too. He'd struggle to show his own vulnerabilities and would probably blame himself for every mistake his child made. He's the dad who runs alongside you while you're learning to ride a bike, refusing to let go until you've found your balance.
Genesis: Let's start with the fact that I wouldn't trust Genesis with a goldfish… but that's beside the point.
That said, I think Genesis would be an incredibly emotionally involved father with absolutely zero sense of moderation. He'd tell stories, read poetry to his children, and turn every dinner into a theatrical performance. He'd nurture their imagination and creativity, be openly affectionate and expressive with his words, and encourage them to pursue whatever they were passionate about. His biggest flaw? He's dramatic. Way too dramatic. When things get difficult, he'd risk getting lost in his own obsessions. Every minor problem would become something not even Shakespeare would've written. He might project his own desire to be "special" onto his children, and he'd have a habit of answering simple questions with elaborate metaphors when a straightforward answer would do.
Basically, he's the dad who somehow turns a bedtime story into a twenty-minute monologue about destiny and the meaning of existence.
Sephiroth: If we're talking about Sephiroth, we're talking about someone who's deeply insecure and whose greatest wish has always been to live a normal life. The problem is that he doesn't fully understand how to express his emotions. Still, I think he'd be surprisingly caring in his own quiet way. He'd protect his children with absolute ferocity, be incredibly patient while teaching them, and spend most of his time quietly observing them, trying to understand their needs before they even had to voice them. I honestly think he'd keep a little notebook where he writes down everything his child likes and dislikes. He'd probably read every parenting book he could find because he'd desperately want to raise them the right way.
The biggest issue is that, as I mentioned before, he'd struggle with physical displays of affection. He'd constantly fear hurting his child or somehow not being "human enough." After all, he never had healthy parental figures himself. He's the dad who doesn't say "I love you" very often but stays awake all night by your bedside when you have a fever.
Zack: Our dear Zack has the energy of a golden retriever, so he'd be a fun, chaotic dad. He'd play with his kids for hours, always trying to make them laugh, even on the worst days. He'd also be the first one to say, "Let's give it a try!" whenever something new came up. He'd do everything he could to create unforgettable memories.
He'd make sure his children felt loved every single day. He'd be the first to play games, race around outside, pull harmless pranks, and teach them how to get back up after failure. He's the dad who builds a pillow fort and then happily stays inside it all afternoon eating cookies and reading stories about heroes and dragons.
His flaw is that he's a little impulsive and sometimes underestimates danger. He'd also struggle to enforce strict rules. One pair of puppy-dog eyes from his kids and every attempt at being firm would immediately disappear. Zack is the kind of father whose children would still remember him with a smile long after they've grown up.
Cloud: At first, Cloud would be terrified by the idea of becoming a father mainly because he never really had one himself. But he'd be incredibly attentive to the little things. He'd do everything he could to protect his children's peace of mind and would recognize the kinds of silent struggles that only someone who grew up confused and hurting can recognize. Because of that, he'd always listen without judgment.
He'd teach his children that being vulnerable isn't a weakness, and he'd be willing to change himself if it meant becoming a better father.
His biggest weakness is that, especially during the early years, he might come across as emotionally distant. He'd carry every burden on his own shoulders and tend to shut himself away whenever he was hurting, partly because he'd want to shield his children from his pain. He'd need someone to remind him that it's okay to ask for help. (Thankfully, he has Tifa by his side, so I think he'd be okay.)
