Very overrated. How do people love them together? They are a terrible ship in every possible way.
I'm talking to all those who think that 10 years after the end of Naruto it no longer makes sense to continue shipping or supporting non-canon ships... SS and NH are canon, their popularity is everywhere... Naruto never loved Sakura and blah blah blah... well, I deny the facts by showing you this event organized in China on the occasion of NS (a ship, as you say, now dead and buried)... whether you like it or not, the NS connection, along with Naruto/Saske, is the most important and integral to the Naruto story and it doesn't matter if it's canon on paper to prove a fact or be popular. As you can see, despite not being canon, NS is loved, supported and incredibly popular among Eastern fans 🥰🥰🧡💕🔥
That's not how naruto acts when he truly cares about someone and loves a person. even the anime is making fun of the character and the pathetic relationship lol🥀
We know it's to feed the typical story of a dumb boy who doesn't know about 'love' and is more inclined towards girls. But this isn't the Naruto from the manga, I'll assume it's a Naruto who doesn't feel anything for her and isn't even worried (although that's canon haha)
Imagine what those dates bro! were like where he doesn't have money to spend on her when he's a saver at heart when it comes to canon, and then he's not even worried about their upcoming wedding, Where is he supposed to marry the one he loves? In the anime, everyone is preparing everything and more worried than he is?
Naruto canon really cares about what he loves, he loves his friend Gaara and was crazy about him, he loves his village and fought tooth and nail to protect it, he loves Sasuke, his soulmate, and left everything and everyone for him, wanting to save him from any harm and give him love, are you telling me that this Naruto wouldn't care about a wedding where it's something very important?
Okay, I went overboard, I'm naming people and even a place that's more important than Hinata 🥀

Why did Kishi develop a “red herring” ship more than the canon ships?
If Kishi called NaruSaku and all their developments a “red herring”, then what does NH and SS Qualify as? A cameo? Kishi spent the entire manga developing a “red herring” ship, and then in the end, he didn’t make it canon. Why not spend the entire manga developing NH and SS properly? That would have saved so many people from the headache they got reading that ending.
If kishi wanted NH and SS as an end pairing, why did he develop NS more? Why did he make it so much more realistic and pure? Why didn’t he spend those pages on NH and SS? This is the exact reason that leads me to believe that Kishi did not have NH and SS planned as endgame. He was forced to change it. That’s why the ending doesn’t make sense. He rushed it and it turned out all wrong.
Kishi is a hypocrite. NaruHina was not planned from the beginning. Manga disagrees with what he said.
I understand that he’s the writer and that he can do anything he wants to with his series, but lying about it isn’t helping anyone here.
It’s obvious that Kishi is lying when he stated in the interview that he decided early on that Naruto will marry Hinata. That’s BS and everyone knows that.
The series contradicts everything he said here. In the entire canon manga, Naruto has not once showed any romantic feelings towards Hinata. He hasn’t shown anything that would lead us to believe he had feelings for her. It was all Sakura. It wasn’t “Kishi giving NS some screen time” in order to create a “love triangle”.
Manga gave us the impression that NaruSaku was going to be endgame. Manga told us that Naruto loved her endlessly and in the end, he will win her heart. That’s what the manga showed. Naruto never noticed Hinata through all this. He never noticed her in a different light. She was a friend to him, like shikimaru was to him. Nothing more. Nothing to suggest anything more. This is what the manga showed us. This is what Kishi wanted us to see. Yet he’s over here lying to us in order to damage control the ending and his decision to go with NH and SS.
He was obviously lying when he said those words. Authors sometimes do that in order to damage control. Kishi knows the ending wasn’t as well received as he hoped it’d be. Part of that reason was the pairings in the end. How he destroyed Sakura’s character in a blink of an eye. How he had to change Naruto’s character in order to fit in with Hinata. He knows all that. that’s why he’s saying all those BS statements. He wants to damage control and make it seem like he knew what he was doing the entire time. That he planned it all. But in reality, he didn’t. The manga shows us exactly what his intentions early on were. He planned for Naruto to end up with Sakura. He changed his mind towards the end because Sakura had a lot of haters and he decided to “save” his series by making Naruto end up with Hinata in order to please the “fans”. He didn’t care that the series would be in jeopardy, all he cared about was ending the series and ending it with the maximum potential for more money. (NH and SS both having children and being on the same team which would create another series to grab even more money)
“Kishi gave NS development in order to ‘create a love triangle’ with Hinata.” He never gave Hinata enough development with Naruto to warrant her being in a love triangle with Naruto and Sakura. She was never in the mix. She was always at a distance. And Naruto never noticed her in that way. She was just a friend, like Kiba. Sakura on the other hand was much more than a friend. She was his team mate, and the girl he was in love with. In Naruto’s eyes, there wasn’t anyone else except Sakura. He would’ve done anything he could have to protect her, even pushing her towards the other guy she loved. That’s how strong his love for her is.
So when Kishi says that he always planned for NH to happen, i say where? You never showed us any substantial hints towards Naruto returning Hinata’s feelings? You always showed us Naruto’s love for Sakura.
If Kishi truly planned for Hinata to be Naruto’s wife early on, i think he would’ve developed NH more, no? I think he would’ve gave us hints that Naruto returns her feelings? He should have focused on NH instead of NS if he truly wanted NH to be end game.
But he didn’t. Which leads me to believe that he planned for NS in the beginning, and changed his mind towards the end to please the haters who do nothing but hate Sakura. Based on the story, NaruSaku was the most plausible ship. This is manga fact and Kishi can’t back peddle enough to make all this disappear.
Exactly. “Red herring” only works if “intended” pairing has enough development to dispute it. If “intended” pairing (NH) is completely ignored while the other one (NS) is consistently developed, it is not “red herring”, it is bad writing. Or, which is more likely, the author is simply lying now - he developed the “intended” pairing (NS), but changed his mind in the end because of “red herring’s” (NH) popularity and is doing damage control now by reversing it all. Unfortunately for him, his work can speak for itself.
He does the same thing with Sakura’s role in the manga. Sakura was introduced as a heroine and main love interest, while Hinata was a side-character on the level of Kiba and secondary love-interest. There is nothing to dispute. All pieces were in place - Sakura was introduced earlier than Hinata, she was pecieved by Naruto in a romantic light from the start, called pretty, became a member of Naruto’s team which ensured a lot of communitcation and development. While Hinata was introduced much later, in a relatively bad light (”weirdo”) and was part of the least impressive team (ironically Kiba’s team). From the very start she was put in position where she couldn’t hope to have a lot of screentime without getting in the way.
Would an author deliberately put a better “heroine” and intended wife of MC in a position to have such little impact on the story and so few interactions with MC? To the point where he is surprised by her popularity, after all she did nothing and is never there? (He said it in an earlier interview.) Even a beginner wouldn’t make such a mistake.
Thus I am quite sure Kishi intended for Sakura to be the heroine and end-game girl. But now that he wants Hinata’s role in 700 and Boruto look justified, he dares to contradict not just his work, but his own words and common sense.
Can we talk about how as a child, Sakura was like this
but in the beginning of Shippuden, she developed to the point where she was like this
Meanwhile Hinata at the beginning of the manga was like this
and stayed the same the entire manga lmao
One of the arguments that bug me a lot is “Naruto is happy and he has a family so you should stop insulting the ending” + putting hundreds of pictures from the Last movie to prove it.
The problems with this argument are so much and you don’t even have to be a shipper, being a Naruto fan is enough to see just how wrong it is and how forced all of this looks which apparently makes you a “salty fan”.
The “Naruto” we see in the movie is nothing like the canon!Naruto. I haven’t seen the movie nor am I planning to do this but from the spoilers, people who watched the movie, twitter and the reviews in Yahoo Japan the amount of people who said that the way the movie describe Naruto’s character is awful and he doesn’t even seem like himself.
Naruto who was said to be able to “see in people’s hearts” apparently can’t make a difference between his love for ramen and Hinata’s love for him. And I’m absolutely serious - this is how Studio Pierrot excuses the fact that he hasn’t addressed her confession not only after the Pain arc but 2 years after the end of the war. They excuse his behaviour with such an absurd argument that made people in Japan say that he is a very “shallow” person.
In order to make Naruto fall for Hinata they had to sacrifise his love for Sakura in the most disgusting way possible with saying that his feelings were based on his rivalry with Sasuke which makes absolutely no sense since it is a canon fact that he has liked her before Team 7 was formed. (he introduces her as a “very cute girl that I like a lot”). If we ignore this fact and try to understand and look at this another way it still makes no sense because of the “I hate people who lie to themselves”. After the movie was released in theatres in Japan people sent Kishi’s assistant pictures of Naruto with this quote on it and commented with “But it’s okay if he does it” which is the reason that Naruto Uzumaki’s nickname in Japan now is “The worst scumbag”.
This movie is an insult to Naruto’s character as it portrays him as a person who has been lying to himself this whole time. He lied to Sai which lead to Sai verbally attacking Sakura and her having an emotional breakdown because of feelings that weren’t real in the first place. They portray Naruto like a stupid person who doesn’t understand other peoples’ feelings when in the manga no matter what happened Naruto could see in others’ hearts (even in the first chapters with Zabuza and Haku). He doesn’t take feelings lightly and he is true to his own ones but in the movie it’s the opposite.
I do understand that in the end Naruto is shown happy and with a family but what do you also notice in this picture:
Where is the man whom he followed and searched for, fought tooth and nail to bring back, adressed as him as his best friend and said that his heart hurts when he sees him in pain? Where is Uchiha Sasuke with whom he has the most important bond in the whole manga?
Where is the girl who saved his life many times, was his emotional and physical support, who made his heart beat again, who was the breath in his lungs when he didn’t have the power to breathe himself? Where is Haruno Sakura who fought for his dream, who was ready to give up on her dreams to make his come true, and whom he loved all this time?
Where are Iruka, Kakashi, his friends?
What happened to Naruto who swore to change the world and bring piece to the world? Who never gives up and fights till the bitter end, who brought piece to the world yet apparently he doesn’t have time for his own son and makes him go through the same pain of loneliness that he has been through? What happened to Naruto who swore to protect his friends?
He was supposed to surprass the previous generation - him becoming Hokage isn’t enough. Why isn’t Sasuke home? Why did he gave up on his love? Why was Team 7 replaced with a side character who doesn’t even know Naruto’s true self? This isn’t about ships - this is about the fact that Studio Pierrot is trying its hardest to replace the important people in Naruto’s life and give their role to Hinata just to make her rellevant. It’s about the fact that they turned Naruto into a scumbag and changed him entirely to fit Hinata. Because they didn’t get together because of development or proper interaction - someone had to suffer around them just so they can interact, just so Naruto can pity her and get together with her. They had to steal Narusasu and Narusaku moments and transform them in order to fit Naruhina, in order to give NH relevance.
As a matter of fact Naruto didn’t make all of his dreams come true. Sasuke isn’t here for him, isn’t in the village, he not only didn’t win Sakura’s heart but also lied about his feelings and Team 7 isn’t even together. But of course SP will draw him being happy, because this is how they want us to see it. But the real Naruto wouldn’t even want to become like that.
Do not mistake Naruto Uzumaki in canon manga (1-698) with the Naruto created to fit Hinata’s character in this movie.
