This blog is about Thurid, a character created within Dungeons and Dragon's and her adventures as well as various posts about D&D, fantasy and stories. Campaign Masterlist
The Elder Scrolls: Swinging wildly while chugging potions
Dark Souls: Dodgerolling around the arena to stab it in the ass
Dragon's Dogma: Having your strider attack him with arrows while your fighter boosts you to climb onto the dragon and stab his heart while the mage keeps you all alive
DnD: "You've accidentally pulled out a ring instead of your sword. The dragon thinks you are proposing. Roll Charisma."
Thurid finds it easy to make acquaintances but difficult to form lasting friendships, preferring to survive this world alone.
Faith: The Norse pantheon.
Fears: Abandonment
Motivation: Understanding the dream and sudden changes in yourself
Effective Event: A dream caused by the knock out effect upon touching a broken stone fragment
Personality Trait: I’ve been isolated for so long that I rarely speak, preferring gestures and the occasional grunt.
Ideal: Self-Knowledge. If you know yourself, there’s nothing left to know.
Bond: I’m still seeking the enlightenment I pursued in my seclusion, and it still eludes me.
Flaw: I like keeping secrets and won’t share them with anyone.
OK so I’ve been looking around for Vampire playable “Race” for d&d
But they’re all either really op or don’t seem to use vampire lore to a good extent so I’ve decided to make my own
Introducing Blue’s first homebrew “race”. Lemme know if you have any notes about this because I want to bake playing as a vampire possible without breaking the game
Vampire Race
Appearence: Pick a playable race from the D&D players handbook. You will appear paler than the living.
Ability score increase: +2 to Charisma and +1 to dexterity
Dark vision: you have superior dark vision and can see 120ft in darkness and dimlight is treated as bright light
Sunlight sensitivity: you have disadvantage on all perception, investigation and constitution checks and saving throws. If you are in direct sunlight for more than an hour you take 1d6 radiant damage every 5 minutes
Undeath: Normal healing spells damage you instead and necrotic spells heal you.
You don’t need to eat, sleep or breath but you need to consume blood every x amount of days, where x is equal to your level. Prepared blood can be made by making a medicine check that takes 10 minutes per bottle.
Small creatures=1 Vial of blood
Medium creatures=1 bottle of blood
Large creatures = 3 bottles of blood
You are resistant to poison and bludgeoning damage
You are vulnerable to radiant damage and any damage dealt by silver weapons
The Feed: As a bonus action you can use a bite attack to do one 1d6 piercing damage.
Feed - if you are grappled with a creature you can use your action to feed, and you do 1d8 necrotic damage and gain hit points equal to the damage you’ve dealt. If you are at full health you gain a maximum of 5 temporary hit points
Blight of the Vampire: You are vulnerable to Radiant damage and damage done by silver weapons. You are only allowed into a residence if you are invited in and cannot enter holy buildings of any good aligned gods. If you are pierced with a wooden steak to the heart you take double damage and are paralyzed. Your party members can make a medicine/arcana check to remove the steak and unparalyze you.
One with the shadows: you have advantage on Stealth checks and saving throws in dimlight and darkness. If you begin your turn in darkness you have advantage on attack throws on any creature that hasn’t attacked you that turn
I might edit this so at 5, 9, and 17th level you get more vampiric abilities, or make a feat that gives you extra vampiric abilities
The Truth Lies Beneath the Surface by Kamil Jadczak. “Rusałka is a slavic female demon usually appearing around lakes, ponds or rivers. She deceives men and drowns them. I wanted to show her as a dead corpse that uses a charm, so that she looks like a pretty woman when out of the water.”
Day 22 Evening: What have we done? What have I done? We have done something that is not right, but not completely wrong either.
We are on our way to Weatherfront, by we, I mean Agar, Ophelia, Aeonir and myself. Master Rickard had left a note at The Anchorage, requesting for a group of us to assist with the transfer of an item from Halbur's docks to Weatherfront. We headed to the docks, uncertain of what we are meant to be collecting but once we arrived, it was obvious. The crowds of people gathering round a large box covered with a large dark brown blanket. Aeonir and Ophelia kept their distance, watching the crowd and the guards. Agar took the lead, picking under the blanket whilst I informed the guards that we had been sent on Master Rickard's behalf. I showed the wax seal as proof. Agar seemed on edge after peeking under the blanket. The guards seemed to be very cautious with every step they took. I knew there would be trouble. Ophelia collected Sid from the stables and let Aeonir ride him alongside the cart as we followed.
Everyone's curiosity got the better of them and finally Agar used magic to lift the blanket. First you could see the chains, the shackles around the ankles, then the restrained arms across a chest, the young face of a girl, glowing orange eyes... a Tiefling. Younger than Ophelia, but a stronger and fiercer looking expression. Ophelia became overwhelmed. Wanting to know who she was, why she was in a cage and so on...
I am not surprised, and I should have paid more notice to her but Agar caught my attention, he had stopped as we carried on walking, completely zoned out. I doubt he'll ever explain what he was thinking. I turned back to Ophelia, I truly tried to reason with her, explaining that the warrant could be justified, that she may have murdered those people and that she does not know this girl or what she is capable of. The cart was unexpectedly on fire, the blanket was ablaze. Aeonir was trying to put it out but it was never ending flames. I could hear Ophelia shouting at the guards, but I am not sure what she was saying and then she was in the cage with her. Unlocking the shackles and removing the restraints. An explosion of heat threw us back, I saw Ophelia hurtled out of what was left of the burning cage. The Tiefling ran off into the forest, Aeonir chased after her whilst riding on Sid, Ophelia was following.
Agar and I managed to catch up by untying the horses from the cart, the guards had disappeared at this point. Probably running back to Halbur to tell the guards what Ophelia did and how I just let her do it. We catch up to them as a hooded man tries to grab the young Tiefling. Ophelia grabs her and the hooded man disappears into the tree line. I was not sure what was going on anymore, I was unable to control the situation at all. I tried to talk to the girl, I eventually found out her name - Zara - but that was all. She is very similar to another stubborn and argumentative Tiefling I know. I noticed Ophelia wanted to be alone with Zara, I have to let Ophelia make her own mistakes.
Whilst they were gone, Agar began discussing how we should follow Zara and kill her. I don't know what that was all about but that was definitely not going to happen. I wouldn't let him and I am sure Ophelia wouldn't either. Aeonir remained silent as she always does, brooding against the tree, and tending to Sid and the other horses before disappearing out of sight. I do not know why everyone keeps doing that lately. Are we all getting too close that we are not so trusting of one another, even more so than before? Our true identities and motives in this world are slowly beginning to show? Aeonir returned with the hooded man from before. I still do not know who this person was and I did not know what to do, I just knew we had to make a decision as the guards would be with us soon if they dared to return. We all agreed, apart from Agar, that Zara should go with the hooded man, to find safety, if that's what could be found...
We realised that we had to tell the guards something and as much as I did not want too, we would have to try and lie our way out of this. For some reason, and I cannot remember who but it was decided that we should make it look like an attack. Naturally, Agar was happy to burn and mark up our clothes, Aeonir walked off as she was not interested in anything we were doing and Ophelia gave me a black eye. The next day we rode to Weatherfront, I explained to the guard that the girl broke free and there was a hooded man helping her, we weren't able to track them other than that they were heading south. The guards immediately ran to investigate whilst we headed to the Guildhall to rest.
I was surprised to find Kinto at the Guildhall but I am sure Arkael probably asked for him to watch over the place in his absence. Especially with Kinto’s ability to transport themselves elsewhere. I think they called it Misty Step but I am not certain, however, I can tell you that it was a very strange experience. Myself and Kinto, alongside the others, decided to have a few drinks. I do not know where my courage came from but I asked Kinto if they were able to bring others with them whenever they transported. Kinto whispered in my ear, I can still feel the tingle that they sent down my spine as they asked “are you willing?”. In the next moment, there was a rush of light, colours and motion and I was the opposite side of the hall by the entrance. After that, I do not remember much else…
