Joss Whedon Appreciation Club

With official NYU recognition, the Joss Whedon Appreciation Club really has done the impossible, and yes, that makes us mighty! Joss Whedon is the creator of many shows and projects like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly/Serenity, Angel, Dollhouse, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. He is currently directing the Avengers movie. His fan-base is incredibly large and supportive, helping Joss and his collaborators raise money for multiple charities like Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, the Lupus Foundation of America, the Dyslexia Foundation, the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, and many more. The purpose of this club is to celebrate his works. We will be screening episodes and movies and discussing them and their impact and deeper meanings. We are also planning fundraisers for Whedon-supported charities.

We’re not good friends. Most of us never found the time to get to know you. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t noticed you. We don’t talk about it much, but it’s no secret that Sunnydale High isn’t really like other high schools. A lot of weird stuff happens here. But whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you, or helped by you at one time or another. We’re proud to say that the class of ‘99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history. And we know at least part of that is because you.
