"I’m not here for that," Jet tells him, keeping his eyes carefully trained to his face, just in case he’s planning something—and he probably is, he figures, because that’s just the way of people like him. "I hardly doubt you pass as unsuspecting, anyway.” He stands in front of him, guarded but ready to fight, if it comes to that. Jet doesn’t think it would be far off to assume it would come to that, because knowing their history, it was likely that it would. He grinds the heel of his boot into the ground. “What i’m interested in is knowing why you’re still here.”
"You think I'm hiding something from you." Suddenly, the platter of empty cups Zuko'd been holding drops to the table, a suppressed clatter amidst a near-empty tea shop. Closing time. When he turns back to meet Jet head on, his expression is touched with the smallest hint of heat. "Maybe I didn't make my point clear enough last time, Jet. I'm trying to start my life over like everyone else." Then, with a bit more flair, "so what makes you think I need a reason to tell you why I'm still here?" Accosting him until he's hovering over the other's shoulder--still careful--Zuko adds, "I think it's time you left. Shop's closed."
Even at their best, they were at their worst. They were siblings, and yet fate had an ugly way of working when they were apart or side by side. Allies but not. Together yet anything but. "Azula," he greets in the usual: straight-forward and to the point, a result of estranged years and suspicion. "This can't wait? I was thinking we'd talk after I was settled." Which would surely be never. Nothing felt right, but that could be his wild nerves. "But I guess I can't keep you waiting, can I?" Bad question. Of course he couldn't--not for her.
He couldn't forget him not even if he tried. When wearing the face of the enemy, however, it was easy to see why a violent spark ignited between the two. Zuko's world ruined his. Jet was determined to take it back. "You again," Zuko says, brash but not angry--relatively normal considering Zuko's standards. "If you're looking for another sparring match, I'm not interested. I'm sure you can test your abilities on other unsuspecting people." Completely tactless, a byproduct of a poor last meeting.
"Zuko…?" He would be lying if he said that Zuko was acting normal. This was the first time ever…. ever since he’d joined the group he’d seen him like this. It chocked him. Aang wasn’t used to see him like this and the way he’d said me and you, weirdly, made him sweat. Was it supposed to affect him this way or was it something else? Something… “Um. Of—of course not, Sifu Hotman. Of course not.”
"..." With mild annoyance, Zuko smacked the top of Aang's head with the end of the glider. "I told you to stop calling me that." Was Aang alright? No matter. Leaping from where he stood, Zuko, with stolen glider in hand, fled to more distant rooftops. "Well, if it's not going to be a problem, why don't you come and get me already? Don't just stand there--" Then, with a furious kick, Zuko delivered a flash of flames to the grounds Aang had perched himself on. He was asking for a challenge. "Or are you having a change of heart?"
The slight smile that was on Aang’s face dropped when he heard the older boy’s tone. He frowned, rubbing the back of his neck as he came to stand next to Zuko. “Um… I’m sorry? Did we have something planned?” he asked, wondering if he’d missed a meeting that they were supposed to have today. “Where are the others?”
Even as they neared one another, Zuko did not flinch. He was calm, undisturbed and at ease. "We always had something planned." Then, suddenly, Zuko was too close, pulling in towards the monk before disappearing in a flash. A gust of heat--firebending--spiraled near Aang's feet before the prince retreated, prized glider suddenly by Zuko's side. "It's just me and you. I made sure to keep it that way. That's not going to be a problem, is it?"
If Aang was having a considerably exhausting day, it would have pleased him to know that, no, it was only going to get worse. His lucky day. Zuko's eyes were fixed on the Avatar, and once he'd noticed the boy approaching, he said with a mildly disappointed, "you kept me waiting." With a tint of heat, too. Hell, he wasn't even sure Aang knew he planned training to continue, but if he hadn't he soon will. "I don't like being kept waiting."
He's quick, body cutting through air at the blink of an eye. There's a chorus of 'come back here!' and 'get back!', but the young man never stops. He's soaring, flying by rooftops and leaving pursuers in a heap of dust. And, with a sharp turn, Zuko manages to disappear from sight. Good. So he finally got it without any hitch-- "Oh, Ty Lee," Zuko greets by ways of restrained surprise. Well, almost without any hitch. Slipping the scroll away, he continues, "what are you doing here? I thought I heard someone call for you just now. Maybe you should go check it out." And it still sounds oh so assured. Remarkable.
Azula earned his bitter suspicions, and Mai the best of himself. And Ty Lee.... Well, she was the circus girl, the free spirit that always went where her desires told her to. Admirable, really, even if that ever 'free spirit' led her into a crash course with Zuko. No venom though, however. Luckily. Looking up from a sheet of paper, Zuko greets the girl with a single "hey" before rolling up whatever it was he'd been looking at. "Aren't you busy? Thought you'd be somewhere else." It would have sounded confrontational if it'd been anyone else.

A simple preview to my novella-ish writing. Seriously.
That's it. My banters are usually less in-depth.
He feels it burning beneath his skin, inextinguishable and fully alive. It boils through his blood like some uncontrollable force, and even after years of devotion and effort, it still feels like it'd eat him alive. If he slips, it could. If he messes up just once, it'll make sure he'll never have to worry about mistakes again.
And that was the true fury of fire. It didn't care who handled it or who even bothered to try; seasoned veteran or weak beginner, it did not matter. Elements weren't something to be conquered, but a power that sought vessels. He was just a messenger for these wild, hungry flames. He could burn down everything he saw by the ways of destruction, or reborn life by the ways of the phoenix.
Zuko inhales.
With a powerful kick, the air around him singes with massive heat, fire licking up the trees that surrounds him. Embers fan through the lazy breeze, and Zuko continues strike after fearsome strike. His body moves in one seamless flow, legs and arms dancing with a fire that still threatens to consume him and everyone else around him. Fire was boundless. Fire had no mercy.
And did it show. Moving under the sun, Zuko's strength soars, fires feeling hotter, the crackling growing thicker. The rest of the group watched on in awe, but if they felt the tiniest hint of fear, he could not blame them.
Like he's said before, fire, unlike the other elements, was fully alive, an element of its own that'd dominate you if you let it. Just give it one chance. Just one.
Then his body stops, chest rising and falling under the strain of his work. The air still carries with it the merciless fury of wild flames, Zuko's body covered with the thinnest layer of sweat. Aside from the furious burn that marks his left eye, however, he remains untouched by the power he'd been blessed with. Or cursed. Really, it was all a matter if opinion, or so he supposes.
"That was great, Zuko!" Aang cheers from the side, a smile on his lips that far outshined that of the others. They seemed hesitant. Perhaps he needs more time before they accustom themselves to living with a once oh so desperate hunter. He still prickles at their skin. He can't really blame them.
Rising up from his perch on a rock, Aang confronts the fire bender, asking, "you gotta teach me that move you just did! Uh, how'd did it go again? Like this?"
Zuko watches on with a motionless expression, and save for the blunt instruction of "you're doing it all wrong. Try it again, and this time, show me your progress," everything remains silent.
And for the remainder of that day, the two benders were relentlessly reminded why fire was not an element that begged for a master. Even the Avatar knows that--instead, it was only respect that they themselves could offer,

It's to be mentioned that I have not touched upon any of the comics/books or The Legend of Korra just yet. Perhaps after semester ends which is very soon.
Who wouldn't want to play a determined hothead with blunt honesty and sarcasm. Who knows.
