There was a long moment of silence as Aine thought about Fia’s question. Would they be able to convince the kitty cat to hold back long enough? It seemed like something far off that they might not be able to achieve even though they had to. “I think that we’ll have to be careful with our wording but it might be possible.” ‘Might’ being the key word though. 

“We’ll have to have a very serious talk with everyone and explain the gravity of the situation. Explain it’ll be the only chance of getting one of the most crucial pieces of ingredients. If we can convince the others of the importance, they’ll make sure he stays in check.” Or at least she really hoped that would be the case. 

There would be only one chance. If the demon put together what they were trying to do, he would make it impossible. This was riding on the fact that they had the element of surprise. Fia sighed heavily, her gaze going over to where the rest of the group had made camp. It be easier if they were with their sisters. They’d understand the importance of it all. 

“Guess all we can do is try and then plan from there.” Fia already looked defeated. The pressure was growing and taking it’s toll. “I miss home.” She sighed. “I miss our sisters and going to Rin. IT be so much easier if we had her on our side. She’d know what to do. She always knows what to do.” Fia groaned.

Aine opened her mouth to answer but quickly closed it with her sister’s warning. Of course it would be tricky keeping the kitty out of the way and it would likely require a lot of patience. Maybe it wasn’t something she could even do, even though she felt like she might need to try. 

“Yeah, you’re right about them all likely coming to the rescue. I don’t really want that either but I don’t want him to interfere with what we need to get out of this fiasco coming.” She shook her head slightly in frustration at just the idea of them not being able to get some blood because of someone else interfering. “I don’t know if just talking to him will get him to understand the importance of this for us. And it’s not like we can ask the hunters to help with the matter since they trust us as much as Mim does and that’s not saying much at all. But we really can’t afford to let the feline fuck this chance up for you.”

There was a long pause. A conversation was going to have transpire. The cat man was the only one that was going to be alerted when the battle was happening and they needed to go along. There was an off chance that the two might not even get the demon to bleed. It was all risk and she wasn’t sure how they could all travel. 

“We’re going to have to talk it out with him one way or the other. Traveling may be difficult and there is a chance the demon may not bleed. There’s too many pieces in play and we need them to be on our side.” Fia sighed heavily, groaning afterwards. 

“They better not fuck this up over a stupid little girl. We need to get them to focus on what’s important and that’s the blood. This might be our only chance as I doubt any of us are going to make him bleed enough for the spell. We have to take advantage of this chance. Think we can persuade him?”

“All right, all right. I’ll keep you out of it.” Aine waved off her sister with a small chuckle. She’d likely keep trying until she got bored or it was time to leave the group, whichever came first. The mention of the coming fight made her hum softly as she thought about what might come to pass during that battle. 

“Well if he decides to get in the way, I’ll get him out of the way for the moment it’ll take to get what we need. He’ll have to understand priorities and another chance like this won’t happen again. You need the demon’s blood for your magic and we will get it during this fight.” Aine had no issues with putting the cat down for a few if she needed to in order to get him to not be in the way of this. An opportunity like this was rare and they had to take advantage while they could.

The cat wasn’t one she personal wanted to make an enemy of right now. He was derange and that disappearing and reappearing act could be quite problematic. Fia sighed heavily, looking at her sister full of concern. Yes, she was talented, but she couldn’t come to Aine’s aide like most other witches. Her magic was planned and took time to come in effect. 

“How do you plan to do that with his special little power?” Fia spoke slowly, uncertain how Aine would go about this delicate situation. “Don’t do anything stupid. I can’t come to your aide so easily, unless we get some hair of his. Then I can make a dolly and take care of him.” It be painful, but it would keep him in place for a while. “Don’t really want to start a battle with them and I feel if we attack, or do anything to one of them, they’ll all respond.”

A wide grin grew on Aine’s face with how openly Fia hated this conversation. It was so cute though. Compliments and asking him to show her stuff, trying to be his friend. The thought alone caused her own feeling of vomit to want to come up. But it was the best way to get at Mim after all and that made it all the more worth it to her. “Gotta have patience then it seems.” She dramatically sighed a little but the grin on her face remained all the same. 

“Might as well try to have some fun with this though. I think I can forget what he is for a little while at least. I just hate the idea of Mim getting a happy ending even after everything that’s happened. Especially with a witch hunter of all things.” Maybe if it had been a normal human, she wouldn’t care as much but it was Hansel. One of the most famous witch hunters. “We’ll see if I can’t figure out the best way to unnerve her while we get you to work your magic against the demon. It’ll be a good time killer at the very least.” 

“Have to have a good gag reflex, to not vomit all over him when talking.” Fia hated it. All of it! The idea, the execution, the hunter, her sister flirting with the hunter and the hunter. Getting under Mim’s skin didn’t seem worth it, but she wouldn’t rain on her sister’s fun. Fia would tolerated it and bury her nose in a book if it came too much to watch. 

“Good time killer for you! Depending on how flirty you get, just keep me out of the loop.” Fia fake shuddered while laughing. “Still don’t like the idea, but I’ll run with it for the time being. Though, if we are to get the demon’s blood during this upcoming fight, we’re going to have to team up with the group. Kitty cat might protest if it gets in the way of him getting that little girl out of there right away, but it is the best option. We’ll have two strong opponents fighting for us, that usually wouldn’t and this is an opportunity we can’t miss.”

“Flirting is so hard to do.” Aine grumbled with a whine, knowing what her sister was saying was true. She was used to guys coming to her and not having to make the initiative herself. “I’ll make things work somehow though. Even if it’s just to add more insecurities to little Mim, my job will have been a success. Guarantee you she’s still thinking about what was said earlier. She’s probably fretting over it too.” Which meant that the messing around had worked in the sense that she wanted it to. 

“But a witch hunter of all things is so hard. He’s cute and all but he’s the embodiment of an asshole and I think that’s making it harder for me to actually get my game on. You know?” She wasn’t too sure if Fia would understand or not since it hardly made sense saying it out loud like she did. “Baby stepping things might take forever and we don’t have forever to give. Any suggestions, dear sister?”

“Ugh, this subject makes me want to vomit.” Aine had more tolerance than her when it came to the hunters it seemed. Enough to at least hear him out some the other day and set him free. “I’m only giving a few and then never thinking about his again. Neeever ever!” Aine shook her body, trying to free herself from that gross feeling that was linger over her. 

“Compliments? Hard to be hostile towards being complemented. Ask him to show you stuff? Talk like friends. That would probably get her the most insecure, but you’d have to work rather hard on forgetting who he was for that to be a success. That is where I would start and see which out of the three works the best to unnerve her.”

“The hardest part is probably going to pick people that are actually useful in keeping something safe.” Aine grumbled a little as she thought about the current seal bearers; or rather what was left of them. “But I’m sure we can figure things out. If we’re lucky, when Hades finally does make his play with Chernabog and the Queen we could get lucky too. That redhead is with Alice and the boy, right? So one of them could come into contact with Chernabog and just happen to get his blood. That way we don’t have to.” She shrugged since the chance was slim. 

“We can figure it out though, don’t worry. I also have thorns that can work to our advantage too.” Her brows wiggled playfully at that comment. If she were to use her own magic, she’d need to be within a certain distance of him naturally. It was only a matter of time before they did. “So we’ll get our lucky break soon. And then we can complete your spell and finally be on our way from these assholes. Although I’ll admit I’ll miss messing with Hansel and Mim.”

A lot had to still come together and it was daunting to know just how much was riding on this. The odds were not in their favor. Sighing, she closed her eyes, refraining from saying what was really on her mind. Fia didn’t want Aine anywhere near the demon and would not let her risk herself like that, but that was an argument for another day. A smile was forced instead. 

“Soon we’ll be gone that’s for sure!” Fia plopped down on the little makeshift cot she’d been using to sleep on. “Camping won’t be missed!” Since they were talking about things they’d miss and not one came to her mind, she went with what she wouldn’t. “As for you messing with them, you’re going have to be better if you actually want to do some damage. Not make it soo obvious. Hansel is shutting you down before anything good happens.” Fia hated thinking Mim might actually get an happy ending with the witch hunter. “Have to make it look real between the two of you, which means not having him be hostile.”

“So dramatic.” Aine shook her head a little but ultimately ignored the blonde that spoke her mind. They’d thank Cheshire later for the part he played in getting their hands on the stone. Just not when it was forced by other people. When they were close enough to their things, she plopped herself down on the ground and watched her sister. 

“I hope that it’s everything we need. What you’re going to be trying will be tricky but I know you can do it.” By the end of her words, there was a smile that had grown on her lips. “We’ll take that demon by surprise and see about setting things right. Rin will understand our actions I’m sure of it.” Or at least she really prayed that Rin would understand. If not then they might be in for a bit of trouble but that was a thought for another time. “Is there anything we should work on tonight?” Given she didn’t have Fia’s powers, she wasn’t sure how things would work for her sister. They’d spent their whole lives together but not everything about Fia’s magic was so simple. Thus why she offered to help if anything was needed.

“You, sister, are sure optimistic about it all.” Fia pulled her gaze from her feet to look at her sister. It was nice to have someone believe in her, but she really didn’t want to disappoint. There was a large possibility that this wouldn’t work. No one had done any spell like this before, to Fia’s knowledge. There was nothing to run her work against and to get it right on the first try? It was just a lot on her plate.

“Not quite, there is one thing left we need. We can’t really start until we have it...” The ingredient on her list she knew was going to be the hardest to get. “We need to soak the bloodstone overnight during the full moon to bind them together. Than I can melt the metal to make a ring, necklace, bracelet, whatever jewelry piece is the easiest to hold that part of him in. Then we’ll need to find guardians to protect and watch over the jewelry.” Fia looked over at her sister, almost like it wore her out just thinking about all the steps.

Aine didn’t really seem to mind any hearing how tired he would be from teleporting all of them. She could feel how thoroughly the witch was looking for them and didn’t want to chance anything. So when he finally agreed, she stepped closer when told and waited until everyone else did as well. It took a moment but eventually the trees surrounding them faded and the sight of their little makeshift camp reappeared in their sights. Aine glanced around, a small smile on her face with their victory for the day. 

“Come on, Fia. Let’s get that settled with your things.” she didn’t think that her sister would want it anywhere but close by to her so the suggestion had been made. But it was also mostly because they’d spent too much time with these huntsmen and she wanted a break from them. She was sure Fia could use one too. So she began to star guiding them away, a smile still staying on her face. Messing with them had been a blast though. 

Remarkable. They robbed one of the fiercest witches around and escaped unscathed. Fia looked around the camp, eyeing their travel companions only for a moment before being ready to leave them for some privacy. The four truly were exhausting to be around, but they all made a good team and accomplished what they set out to do. 

“Yes.” Fia agreed, wanting to get back to her belongings. “Make sure this is all correct and what we needed. “I’m pretty sure we’ve collect almost everything.” She heard the blonde yelling after them and paused long enough to look back and see the middle finger up in the air. “You’re so charming, darling.” Fia scoffed, rolling her eyes  as she turned her attention back to Aine.

They still had a good lead it seemed. The witch wasn’t necessarily on their trail at the moment but if she started scrying then it was likely they’d be found. It was only a matter of time that they would be found. The silence made it a bit easier for her to concentrate on what she was doing so she didn’t mind it entirely. It wasn’t long before she heard two barely audible voices just beyond a couple of bushes they were passing through. Cheshire had led them right to Rapunzel and Mim. “Can you get us out of here?” She asked almost instantly to the feline, wondering if he could teleport all of them at once. That would be the safest bet for them all to get out of this without having to engage the witch. 

The couples had their rare moments where they were actually cute. When they come back together like this is one of them. Fia had a small and gentle smile as she watched each girl embraced. It only last as long as a second before she too wanted to move on and get the hell out of here. Aine, thankfully was already on it. 

“Ugh-yeah.” Fia answered, caught off guard that Mim was addressing her. They’d gotten her pretty riled up before they left, so she figured she would ask Hansel those questions. “I have it here in my bag. So I don’t see why there would be any reason for any us to stick around.” Her gaze turned to Cheshire, showing she was ready to leave.

The way the witch screamed was a dead giveaway they had been made. It was even a bit unnerving but Aine didn’t let it show on her features. She kept a gentle hold of her sister’s arm as they followed along as quietly as they could; away from the witch and closer to where Rapunzel and Mim should hopefully be. The feline began leading them a bit on a different path though but maybe he had heard something that they didn’t? At least he didn’t disappear on them. 

“It’ll be all right.” She spoke loud enough only for those around her to hear, just barely lower than the average speaking volume. “If she gets too close to us, I’ll keep her off of our trail until we can get out of here.” In a way, she had already started on working her roots so to speak in the swampy area. She knew how far the witch was from them and how they still had time. So long as they moved quickly, they’d be able to vanish before the witch ever got too close. And if not? Then her vines would just have to come crawling up the witch to pin her down long enough for them to make their escape.

It wasn’t all right. The very one thing Fia didn’t want happening, Aine was offering to do. Her plan made Fia’s mind crawl with worries. Didn’t matter, she couldn’t voice her concerns. Aine would do what was necessary to protect them and that wasn’t really anything she could hold against her sister. So she just held on tight, making sure they wouldn’t get separated. Kitty-kat veered off without saying much. Boys and saying the bare minimum. The two needed to work on their communication.

Hearing her sister begin to panic made Aine feel the urge to panic. She did her best to keep herself in order though even as she stopped until her sister caught up. She was quick to set a hand on Fia’s shoulder in a way that would hopefully remind her that they were together. That Aine wouldn’t let anything happen to her. The idea of the back door was a good one but when the feline spoke, she turned to him. 

“If you think you can get us out of here faster, then do it.” The worry was betrayed in her tone since she did not want to confront this witch. Not just because the witch was one of their sisters but if a battle did ensue, they’d be screwed. This was a powerful witch after all. When Cheshire motioned to them, Aine took a gentle hold of Fia’s hand so that the two of them could get close enough for Cheshire to work his own magic so to speak.

Fia was ready to go into full panic mode when she heard how close the witch was to them. There was no doubt in her mind the old hag was on to them. There was most likely a trespassing spell that alerted her, or something they unknowingly set off. The hand on her shoulder only grew her to worry. Fia would be useless in a battle, putting a lot of weight on Aine to protect them. Without hesitation, she moved closer to Cheshire so they could get the hell out of there. 

It had been close too. The door knob was beginning to turn right as they disappeared. Fia held on to her sister tightly, afraid of being separated. Even in the protection of the woods, she didn’t feel safe. The screams only confirmed she was right to worry. 

“Keep going. She won’t be able to get her hands on it, even if she does catch up to us.” Only Fia knew how to break the spell on her box. Aine could figure it out if she really wanted to go through her notebooks, but the other witch wouldn’t know how. Protectively, she patted the box as she started moving alongside the men, not letting go of her sister’s hand.

Aine followed her sister into the room and peeked past her towards the stone in Cheshire’s hand. Fia’s announcement of finding it brought a smile to her face. They were one step closer now to being able to cast Fia’s spell against the demon and that made her feel rather proud. The moment Cheshire let it go, she was already turning to lead the way out of the house. But she heard the call too, the same bird call that Fia told Mim to call out to them should the witch be in sight and on her way back. 

“Shit, she’s coming.” Aine didn’t let herself panic though even though she cursed. She didn’t even need to be told by Cheshire that they needed to move. She was out the door and heading straight for the door with only a glance back to make sure the others were following. 

There was a moment of tension while she waited for him to give-up the necklace. Fia could tell by the look in his eyes that he had wanted to hold to the stone. He made the right decision in the end and she started tucking it away in a little box. It was bewitched with a spell of her own, binding it to her with her blood. Only she could open. A precaution incase the old hag turned up.

A fear that was now becoming her reality. Fia took a deep breath in, trying to refrain from panicking. The gentle push got her moving in the right direction, behind her sister. Carefully, she peeked out the windows, trying to catch a glimpse of the witch. 

“Aine, careful.” Fia called out. “Do we need to go out the a backway, or a window?” She questioned, not wanting to run smack-dab into the old hag. “How close to us is she?” Anxiety of it all was beginning to make her shake as she tried to keep them still hidden.

After a few minutes of searching, Aine really had half a mind to just start throwing shit everywhere. It was a miracle that she didn’t and she kept everything exactly how she had found it. But the urge was there nonetheless. With a heavy sigh, she stood up and started to head off to a different part of the room when she heard the kitty call out. “Fia.” Aine sounded a little surprised but more happy by the news as she quickly left the room she was in. She made her way to where she had heard the feline’s voice, knowing that Fia would be on her way if not there already.

When her name was called she was busy going through what seemed to be the witch’s junk drawers. There was nothing of valuable, just garbage. That made her perk up even more at her name. Quickly, she put everything back where’d she found it and started making her way where she heard Cheshire from. 

Stunned, she slowly stepped in the room eyeing the necklace. Her heart skipped a beat as immediately she recognized it. While walking up to Cheshire, her hand rose up to cup the gem in the palm of her hand. The stone was large and polished. She ran her thumb over the smooth surface as she nodded. 

“You found it.” A small smile grew. “It’s also large enough for what we need. I could create three, or four jewelry pieces.” Fia turned to look at Aine. The plan was coming together and they might just have a true shot at stopping the demon. “Great, now we can get out of here.” Fia looked back to Cheshire, waiting for him to let go of the necklace chain.

Hearing that there was finally silence from the two boys made things a little easier. Even if they were stupid and mumbling to each other, at least they weren’t causing a ruckus. So she began to focus on the room that she was in; digging into a couple of small boxes on the side and sorting through whatever was inside one by one. She even opened up smaller things that looked like they could potentially hide something in it, only to be disappointed that nothing was there. But she kept searching, knowing that the stone had to be in this house somewhere and one of them would definitely find it. 

Nerves were starting to settle in. What if they didn’t find the necklace before the old bat returned. Were they stealthy enough not to leave behind any traces. Fia wasn’t betting on it and started to pick up the pace as her anxiety over the situation grew. There was no way around not using the stone. If they couldn’t get their hands on it, it be back to the drawing board and she was not confident that she’d think of something else as good. Sighing, she pulled away from where she was look, creeping further into the home. Thinking to herself, she asked where would she hide something that valuable.

Aine lowered her head as Hansel and Fia went at it, ultimately Fia being the one to put her foot down on the matter. It didn’t matter much to Aine either way but she would always side with her sister. With all of her sisters. Even if there were things that shouldn’t be happening, that was where Rin stepped in. They had no right to judge someone else. With the growl coming from Hansel, she finally brought her gaze back up and shifted her head so she could move some hair out of her face in the process. She stared after her sister for a moment before turning back to Hansel.

“If there is proof, actual, physical proof of this witch doing such an act, then it is our duty to inform Rin and let her act accordingly. Rin is our leader and her laws are absolute. No witch is exempt from that but it’s not someone else’s place to interfere in a witch’s business. Not without knowing all of the facts and circumstances. So.” She paused, motioning around them. “IF there is actual evidence that babies have indeed been killed then I’ll bring it up to Rin so she can address it. There isn’t anything else to be done about it since we know nothing about what she’s been up to. We may be strong witches but this one is not to be trifled with. Even you, a seasoned witch hunter, would have a hard time against her. So let it be, Hansel.” With that said, she turned and left the room to continue looking in a different room for the stone.

Fia couldn’t argue any further. The hunter was going to jump to the conclusion, not matter what they said. Hell, they could have known the witch personally and he’d most likely still not take their word. There was no trust, on either end, and rightfully so. Each side hurt the other and thinking of all the innocent witches slaughtered made her shake with anger. She had to turn away and start hunting for the necklace again, or this was going to break out into a fight.

This time, she moved on to some shelving next to the fire place. It had more dried herbs and some ground up ingredients in jars. The witch had similar talents to Fia, which is why she didn’t want to trifle with the old woman. She had years of experience and practice on Fia and would no doubtingly get rid of them with a flick of her wrist.

Hansel found…well, something but the idiot didn’t say what it was that he had found. Curiously Aine followed along after her sister to see what it was. Hearing it was about sacrifice, she put the pieces together and figured it was related to the bloodstone. No doubt it required sacrifice if it was to work properly. She could hear Cheshire speak out against the witch now and it just caused her to sigh softly. 

“No harm will come to our sister.” Aine spoke in as firm of a tone as Fia had, sparing a glance towards Hansel specifically. “If the bloodstone is to work properly for the ritual, then it needed a sacrifice. It needs a sacrifice. You have no idea if she’s actually killed babies because you don’t know if she’s ever had a use for the stone before. So stop assuming that she’s going around and snatching up babies left and right when you could be far from the truth.” She paused for a moment to let her words sink in before speaking again. “That stone needs to be charged in order for it to work the way Fia needs it to work. Best hope that this witch is the one that did the deed so we won’t have to.” The last words were spoken with clear disdain; it was obvious she wouldn’t want to touch a child. But if that stone wasn’t charged then someone would need to. With that said, she turned away from him with a heavy sigh before heading back to the room she had been searching.

The room was erupting into a fight and they literally were running down the clock. The witch could return at any moment. Fia did her best to ignore the lot of them. Every crevice needed to be searched until they had the necklace in hand, but it kept boiling. Everyone was talking out of their asses and she finally just snapped at them.

“ENOUGH!” Fia demanded, huffing. “It’s a blood stone Hansel. It’s in the title of the damn thing, it needs blood.” Her voice kept rising as she fought not come out and scream. “However, I plan to use it to bind someone to it, not boost powers. We won’t have to do the ritual, most likely, because it will have the demon’s blood as we’re tying him to it. Breaking and faceting it into new jewelry to spread and hide.” Fia snorted, her fists clenched.

“You don’t know if she was using, or perhaps hiding so others don’t use it. You two are just making assumptions. Either way, we’re not planning on sticking around finding out what she does with it. We find it and leave. End of discussion. The witch is very powerful and we’re on her turf. Not someone we want to fight.” Fia looked just exasperated at this point. “So get to looking, already. We don’t have time to waste.”

With all of them inside, Aine quickly glanced around the room that they were in while her sister explained what they were looking for. The little kitty seemed keen on starting but Hansel just had to open his mouth. She watched him walk off to another room, smiling a bit since she knew they had gotten under his skin too. “Last I checked, you all were the ones coming to us for asking for help. So when it comes to what you need us for, let us do what we do best and follow along quietly. Thanks.” She spoke loud enough for Hansel to hear before going off in the one direction no one had gone to check yet. 

It seemed like a kitchen area so she highly doubted it would be in here but it would be worth the look just in case. She started searching through the various cabinets, opening drawers and anything she could to peer inside. Of course she made sure not to move too much around so the witch wouldn’t know someone was snooping around. After a few minutes of searching throughout the whole kitchen, she found nothing. “Any luck yet?” She called out loud enough for everyone to hear, hoping someone had good news for them.

Fia had started checking the fire place mantel. The old witch had quite a stash and it took everything in her not to pocket some of the more rare herbs that were drying out. That wasn’t what they came here for and she shook the thoughts away. Quietly, she started checking the stone work to see if any were lose and could be used for a hid spot. Fia had several like this back at their home, but it seemed the older witch had more tricks up her sleeve.

“No. Nothing yet.” Fia sighed, though paused long enough to hear Hansel grumble. “What is it you found?” She asked, walking over to the desk. “Hunter, do you not know how to use your damn words.” She hissed, picking up the papers. Fia paused for a long moment, huffing. “Doesn’t change anything! She’s not to be harmed, Hansel!” She spoke strictly, stuffing the papers in her pocket.
