Full review of The Black Parade, August 9th, 2026 at Citi Field in NYC
the show itself was incredible, but i'll explain why i took off .3 points. i'll start in order of the show:
show took place in the MOAT, so the prequel to long live the Black Parade! everyone was given postcards upon entrance to the venue, the picture was a battle scene from (90% sure) the crimean war
franz ferdinand was great! i'm not the biggest fan of their music, but they put on a great show!
before they took the stage, mr. blue sky by elo played. it was an interesting change to the usual wartime songs played.
i don't remember who but one of them made the clerk take their pill
frank made the clerk put the medicine down his (frank's) pants LMAO
gerard and i were both wearing gash eyeshadow! we matched!
gerard was making sounds™ during The End
i know some funny business went down during Dead! i just can't remember what it was
the eyeball picture was them all making silly faces! ray stuck out his tongue, gerard made claws w his hands
no dialogue before Sharpest Lives
there was a message before Welcome to the Black Parade. it was about being a leader and life and whatnot
there was a bothered the clerk brought the secretary what i think was a flower and a tea cup, and he danced. there was a bit where the clerk got raffle tickets
gerard was holding up a yay/nay sign during I Don't Love You. he also told us to use our phone flashlights to make a "field of wheat"
the secretary is such a diva. there was a bit in the intro to House of Wolves where she dragged a chair across the stage. felt very tense
unfortunately, there was no gerard sound during Cancer, at the "oh my agony" part
overall though, there were a lot of gerard sounds and antics. a lot of giggles, improved lines, random screams and other noises
Mama was incredible! gerard got the gentleman out of the eye. there were new lyrics added! i couldn't quite figure out what he said though. he said that we were gonna make sylvia explode, and had us practice and say a countdown
the clerk was in a prison uniform, and had a dagger too
i missed most of Sleep (read next paragraph) but gerard made two body outlines, one of him and one of the clerk
here's where my first complaint comes in: i almost died!! ok maybe not that, but i got very sick during Mama. during mama i got so lightheaded that my vision was turning black. i had to sit down, my dad was petrified bc he knew i would've only sat if i was like, on the verge of death. i was dancing and yelling too much, close to heatstroke. so, during teenagers i had to leave my seat and go to a cooling area.
second complaint was that i had to miss Disenchanted (my fav song off TBP) bc i almost died. i also had to miss Famous Last Words which was very sad. but still, it's magical to see an entire stadium sing the bridge of Famous Last Words
(saw a video after bc this was while i was getting medical attention) gerard and the clerk danced together during teenagers. it seems like the clerk's mask is starting to crack. he's actually enjoying himself, and almost becoming friendly with the Black Parade
During Blood, gerard gutted the clerk and ate his heart
shoutout to kayleigh goldsworthy, the violinist, she is so insanely talented!
b stage opened with Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Both of Us. insane pull!
mikey wore a "mikey fucking way" t shirt, designed like a baseball logo in mets colors
I'm Not Okay (I Promise) rocked!
Give Em Hell, Kid was awesome!
gerard blabbed about how much he loves orange drinks
gerard was also messing with the sound board, then said it was broken and goes "we'll be back in 18 minutes... not actually!!" i love him omg
gerard was talking about "hand computers"? sometimes i think he talks just to hear himself LMAO. but, whatever you say, handsome
i just about fucking died when Heaven Help Us played, that's one of my fav songs ever and the only one on my dream songs list that they played! after, gerard said that he forgot to introduce it. something along the lines of "when i started singing, i thought 'oh fuck, i didn't say what the song was' i wasn't sure if people would know it, it's a b side off The Black Parade". i love him
he said "yippee" and one more silly yet unintelligible thing before singing Na Na Na. i love him
Bulletproof Heart is so good and means a lot to me
i can't get over Bury Me in Black! i love how you can really hear the influence that the misfits had on mcr in that song
gerard said a little speech about being fifteen or sixteen years old, and going to rock concerts, and just enjoying yourself/having a good time. brought to damn near tears, it felt like he was talking to me. something i love about that band, especially gerard, is that you can tell how much they love their jobs. gerard is always having the time of his goddamn life on that stage lol
genuine betrayal upon finding out that they're mets fans. gerard used to play baseball as a kid, but sucked at catching
he was talking about art school in manhattan, and he said that he loved getting little fruit cups from vendors in the city. he then said that the song they were gonna play meant a lot to them. i thought it was gonna be Skylines and Turnstiles, given 25 years since 9/11 and the band forming, plus him talking about art school, the city, and the song being important to them. the song was Helena
he said something about getting some "desolation", i thought they were gonna sing Desolation Row bc new york and bob dylan is an honorary new yorker. i think he meant to say "demolition" because it proceeded Demolition Lovers
unfortunately, they didn't play Cemetery Drive, which i really wanted bc its m fav song. so that's where i took off the other 0.1 point
overall, the show was fucking incredible. 9.7 stars, would've been 9.9 if i hadn't almost fucking died. i love mcr, gerard is my hero. i miss it already
