Yabu: I think this is probably already a habit but when I remember the dance choreography, I remember Hikaru’s positions as well.
Yabu: During junior days, me and Hikaru were already a symmetric pair since the times when he still commuted from Sendai and it was natural for me to remember the dance steps as a set for both of us. Recently, even for songs where we do not stand symmetrically, somehow as a habit, I can also remember things like “Hikaru is here next!”
Hikaru: Ahahahaha. But that does help me out too.
Yabu: Yeah. During rehearsals, sometimes I do say “Hikaru, you are here next!” (laugh)
Hikaru: Yes (laugh). I am already busy putting in effort for my own, and I don’t remember the positions of others though. But when it comes to dance, my partner is definitely Yabu after all. We have always been a symmetric pair, and even now there are many songs where my standing position is close to Yabu’s.
Yabu: It might also be because of the height balance, but that’s true.
Hikaru: That is why I always feel that somehow there is a close distance between both of us. Is there someone whom you often practised with during the dome concert this time?
Yabu: This isn’t about dance, but there is a part where we all play the taiko drum and I play the same rhythm as Yuya. So we often check each other’s steps while practising.
Hikaru: That corner is quite detailed when it comes to separation of parts.
Yabu: Who did Hikaru practise with?
Hikaru: I feel it was Ino-chan. But I kept practising the taiko drum by myself in silence (laugh)
Yabu: I see. Everyone has different ways when it comes to practicing (laugh)
Hikaru: With connection to topics about the concert, if you could form a duo with a member from now on, who would be good?
Yabu: A duo? Like doing something together on stage?
Hikaru: Yup. For me, it will be Yabu. About two years ago, both of us appeared as guests on “Johnnys’ All Stars Island” right? It was like “The reissue of Ya-Ya-yah!”
Yabu: You meant the return (laugh). Yeah, the name Ya-Ya-yah also appeared on the monitor.
Hikaru: Yup. We sang “Just wanna lovin you” and “Itoshi no Playgirl”. To me, that was really fun. It still leaves a great impression in my memory now.
Yabu: SnowMan and SixTONES are juniors who knew about that era and they were really happy too. They said things like “This is so nostalgic” and “I am so glad to be able to dance Ya-Ya-yah songs again”
Hikaru: They were so enthusiastic from the rehearsals. I thought about this during that time too, but me and Yabu have a good affinity after all, and it would be great if we could form another unit together again. We can probably do anything.
Yabu: I do want to form a unit with Hikaru too. If it is both of us, I think we can do anything but how about a proper ballad after such a long time?
Yabu: It would be good to dance something in high spirits though. There are many times where we both have the same part during the chorus in JUMP songs, and during such times, I often search for Hikaru. I feel like going to interact with you. Like “Where is Hikaru?!”
Hikaru: I search for you too. But sometimes you are really far away, then I give up.
Yabu: Like “Wow, he’s so far! It can’t be helped then~” (laugh). Also, talking about the concerts, depending on the days, the way we interact and our mood is also different.
Hikaru: Frankly, there are days where we do not interact much too. Though basically we have a high probability of interacting (laugh)
Yabu: Hikaru sends me signals. When we dance during the first part of songs where there are parts where we usually interact, he gives me a face like “Shall we interact today? Shall we?”
Hikaru: At that point of time, it feels like we already start making preparations for ideas later (laugh)

Yabu: Who is Hikaru’s companion in private?
Hikaru: That would definitely be Yabu too. And also Chinen?
Yabu: Three of us go out to eat occasionally. Me and Hikaru usually send each other really trivial mails too. Like “I wonder if there is a sauna at the hotel we are going to for the concert tomorrow?”
Hikaru: “If there is, shall we go?” (laugh). But with that, it just shows that contacting Yabu and inviting each other out is something really natural even on a normal day…
Hikaru: When both of us are together, we are really our natural selves. Even if we just eat, we can enjoy the meal normally, and talk about our feelings regarding the meal.
Yabu: We once ate sushi together at the counter, and we kept saying our comments about the food.
Hikaru: Like “This is delicious!”, or basically we just keep repeating the word “delicious”
Yabu: Like also “This is great, it’s definitely sushi after all!” We sound like old men.
Hikaru: Yeah (laugh). Lastly, a message to each other! For me, I hope you will not change and continue being like the Yabu you are now, and also this year there is World Cup so please give me explanations on players and soccer techniques to look out for!
Yabu: I’ll do that anything. Or rather, it would be great too if I could have some work relating to World Cup. A message to Hikaru, there’s nothing I want to say. It’s been such a long time, I do not have any message at all!
Hikaru: That’s good in a way too.
Yabu: Yup. I just accept you the way you are.
Hikaru: It would be great if both of us could stay this way without changing this year too.
Yabu: I looked through February’s issue of POTATO and the one who looked at me with such a sharp look was (Yokoo) Wataru. That expression of Wataru’s is really the best. We don’t really get chances to talk to each other in private, so I want to go and eat with you once. I want to eat Wataru’s home cooked food, along with a haiku (laugh)
Hikaru: I have a request for Keito. Please teach me English. I wouldn’t face any problems if I could speak and I have started to think that it’s a waste since there are people around me who can speak English. I am not good in English, so you have to teach me from the basics.
Yabu: I went back to my hometown during New Year. My brother’s and sister’s family also gathered, and I gave New Year’s money to my nephews and nieces. It felt strange that my elder brother and sister are already parents, and I feel a little lonely… I also met my father after a year. His white hair has increased and he seems more like an old man now (laugh)
Hikaru: Because I was very busy during the year end, I managed to spend the New Year leisurely and it felt like I got rid of the tiredness. It has been some time since I could sleep without setting my alarm and that was a blessing. It is a customary habit for me to visit my friend’s relatives house during the New Year, so this year I also visited, and played with the kids.
