Angelo peered past the harbor toward the waterfront development. Fighting his landsickness, and squinting against the afternoon sun above the city skyline, he moiled to make out the shape and arrangement of the condos. He was unsure if he had forgotten the layout of the buildings after fifteen months at sea, or if there truly was something different about Harborview Point.
That’s when he spied it, towering ten stories tall. An insipid, brutalist lump. A new condo building, right on the water, with dumb, broad shoulders of brick and a nasty gray tint. There was no doubt about it. It stood right in front of his townhouse, completely obscuring the entire view of the water. Almost deliberately. It had to be.
“Damn you, Nibblepaws!” belched Angelo. While Angelo was away, Nibblepaws must have convinced the board to sell Harborview Park, secured the land, and built that... disgusting building in just over one year’s time. Angelo knew it was personal. Ever since the country club, Nibblepaws had it in for him. So what if he got Nibblepaws kicked off the board, and accidentally hit his wife with the Lexus one time? He needs to learn to let it go.
“I’ll show you, you conniving bastard. I’ll have that ugly thing torn down in ninety days.”
