This Monday’s Study Buddies piece! Knew I wasn't going to have enough time to fully get this guy down when I went in, but I had a blast conquering the yellow. 2 hours total.

Long time no see!
I joined a wonderful Discord and Twitch stream pair at the start of last month and have since spent every Monday and Friday happily painting away at film stills for 2 hours (except for the second from last-- that one I only had 20 minutes for). Really excited to get back in the groove of things!
Painted the cats I live with as a Christmas gift to my housemates! :>

Long time no see! I ran through this piece as a painting exercise this morning, focusing primarily on smooth transitions from plane to plane.

Whew! Today’s featured study. My aim was to focus on brush economy while effectively communicating form & value, which I feel came together quite successfully.
Charcoal doodle! Investing in proper charcoal pencils is high on my to-do list so I can pick more of these up-- I adore what the medium is capable of.
Gratuitous self portraits.
Greg Rutkowski study! His brushwork blows me away in tide with his color choice.
Quickie János Vaszary study. What interested me in this particular piece is the rather loose collection of strokes.
Self-e 🙃 I don’t draw myself all that often, but it’s quite fun whenever the fancy takes me.
Last one for now! Another portrait sketch, this time of Clarette from my visual novel FSPK
Costume design! These would definitely be visible in the FSPK universe, varying slightly between kingdoms. The petticoats on Mause garments, like in the far right example, are much less flouncy than those in Porcelain or Sweets, and Mause similarly leans towards more blouses than full dresses/wrapped layers.
Starting a Star Wars study series! I’ll be going in order of release from A New Hope to TLJ (or probably the Han Solo movie when it comes out?)
WIP of my lute playing mullet boy, Garfunkel, via a study redirection!
wait what's "fspk"?
FSPK is the acronym for my long time visual novel From the Sugar Plum Kingdom! It’s basically a massively expanded retelling of the Nutcracker.

Reflective materials are a joy to paint, methinks.
