You know that feeling when you deeply relate to a character but you can't quite explain it because saying you relate to Gale Dekarios because he thinks the world would be beter of without him isn't okay so you can only say you also love reading and talking passionately about your interests and have a cat like him which is true but is way more superficial than what it actually means to you or is that just me

look, im as fond of academic/professor gale as the next person, but when i say academic, i do not mean aesthetic dark academia. i mean gale as an unhinged college professor who’s only there for the research. i mean gale who:

- comes in on four hours of sleep because he was rewriting one sentence for two hours at 2 in the morning

- has an extremely specific gripe with one very niche convention in his field, and will tell you about it

- has fallen asleep facedown in freshly inked parchment more than once

- irritates his colleagues because he’s always late on his departmental teaching paperwork, but he has tenure so there’s nothing they can do

- has absolutely passed someone on a paper without even reading it because tara stole the parchment for her nest and he didn’t want to fight her for it

- has VERY STRONG OPINIONS about other academics and their research or lack thereof

- is generally seen as both a brilliant academic and an absolute madman
