Digimon Adventure Tri: Symbiosis, quick review

Pros:

Tai’s growth. I wish they’d touch more on all the growing pains the kids are experiencing, but shy of that I’m really pleased with how much they’ve shown Tai’s growth as a leader.

That extremely brief usage of the original watercolor DigiWorld backdrop!

Them all giving Yamato shit about the ghost stories.

Taichi and Hikari’s mom. What a champ.

Yamato’s call to arms to rally the group

Koromon, at the end. I’m not crying, you’re crying! …Okay, I’m crying, too.

Cons:

Meiko. God, I’m sorry to all her fans, but Meiko is such a detractor for me in Tri, increasingly with every chapter. Why do we need 30 minutes every installment of her feeling sorry for herself while the group has to stop whatever they’re doing/discussing to comfort her? AND WHY DON’T THEY CARE THIS MUCH ABOUT THEIR MISSING EXISTING FRIENDS?!?!

Agumon’s food obsession. It just makes him seem…stupid, for it to be the only thing he’s ever thinking about, and we know he’s not stupid. Direct and uncomplicated maybe, but not stupid.

Based on this chapter, I feel like there’s a lot more that could’ve been done with the original Digidestined B-plot (…C-plot??) that’s just gonna go nowhere instead.

AGAIN, WHERE ARE MY 02 BABIES AT?!?!?!

But seriously…Meiko. If I have to hear her sob story about what an awful partner she thinks she is one more time… (╯ ಠ Д ಠ )╯︵ ┻━┻

I would say the things I liked won in quantity, but the things that bothered me won in quality, and I feel ambivalently toward this chapter of Tri…

The big issue with the digimon tri movies, and why you should be pissed too.

I just finished watching the 5th digimon movie, and to put it short, i excpected nothing and im still let down. This is a big negative critique on what ive seen so far from the tri movies, but its also more of a vent for me, because theres something about these movies that really fucking grinds my gears and i feel i finally need to let that out somewhere. Look at this as a sort of….badly written analyctic rant. So far this movie, in short, was as i dreaded, 70% meiko bullshit and 20% kari…which is so fucking insulting i dont even know…but thats why im here.

Now before you assblast me with your stupid crap, please try to understand that as harsh as im writing this, im trying to look at this movie from a critical standpoint, and no im not going to put in the effort to be “nice” about it because if digimon tri can get away with half assing everything about itself, then wont bother. If you cant handle that, move on. If your interested, click the read more and we can begin this shit fest, because i think its about god damn time someone put these mediocre movies in their place.
