Everyone who has loved Six of Crows should stop what they’re doing and read Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. I swept through all three books in about a week and I’m just a mess being held together by a story. The mythology of an ancient Persia like land is so beautiful and Alwyn doesn’t falter with the history, the stories of the Djinn, the names and the cities and the worldbuilding. It feels so similar, as if I’ve heard the stories from my own mother at the temple, as if I have grown up believing in magic and heroes (which I have - I’m Hindu, our mythology is still passed down)
Rebel of the Sands is told from the perspective of a sharpshooter in a little town in the desert who runs across the sands with nothing but fire in her heart and a gun in her hand. The characters are fleshed out so beautifully, and our protagonist, Amani, is such a wonderfully compelling character. I haven’t read a character I totally supported in the first person in a long time (not included Percy Jackson my one true love of course). Every single character in this book has a real story, a real struggle, and nothing is sugarcoated in this series.
The worldbuilding and the magical mythology is so similar to the Grisha-verse, but set in a fictional Persia rather than a fictional Russia/Norway/Amsterdam. There’s different magic woven through the books, magic of djinnis and fire and smoke. The storytelling style is beautiful and I guarantee you that would will fall in love with the world, the characters and the magic instantly. I need more people to understand my love of Amani and Jin (and the rest of the characters which I won’t name as it may spoil things). Oh goddamn, Amani and Jin. They have killed me dead.

I think it’s finally safe to share these Blood and Honey tarot cards that I was commissioned to do for @//fairyloot without spoiling them for those who purchased the box. I’m so happy that those who got them seemed to like them so much!!
The Fool: Lou le Blanc
The Magician: Claud Devereaux
The High Priestess: Cosette “Coco” Monvoisin
The Empress: Helene la Belle
The Emperor: Auguste Lyon
The Hierophant: Florin Clémont
The Lovers: Reid Diggory and Lou le Blanc
The Chariot: Ansel Diggory
Lou and Reid from the Serpent & Dove series! I like these two a whole lot…
These are alternate dust jackets for Serpent & Dove and Blood & Honey commissioned by @foxandwit.
Ahhh I’ve waited so patiently to drop this artwork! LitJoy Crate just posted their spoiler for the August Add-on Collaboration, this time a dessert plate featuring Lou and Reid from Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin!
Side note, I think my stained glass artwork has become a deviated signature style without me realizing it. 🤔 I’ve only now considered how many pieces I’ve done in this style - it’s almost like an amalgamation of papercraft x illustration as far as character designs.
Work In Progress.
