“Look, all I’m saying is that I’ll leave her alone is if she stops invoking the wrath of the gods upon her. It’s literally as easy as shutting up. But when I say things back, why am I suddenly the bad guy?” It’s literally the only time she pesters the satori anymore.

“I never said you were the bad guy. You both bickered, things were said, threats were made. That’s just how arguments go between anyone, not just goddesses and youkai. That said, if she’s saying something to intentionally set you off, just ignore it. You’re a Goddess, be the bigger person and file a personal complaint like everyone else.”

To put the matter to rest cause I feel like people are starting to legit get salty when I just wanted to have Eiki be sassy cause she never gets to be sassy

In Perfect Memento in Strict Sense, Yama are also called Rulers of Hell on top of Judges of the Dead. They’re Gods of Death, more or less. They hold the power to life someone from the circle of reincarnation to nirvana, condeem them to hell to atone for their sins before being reincarnated to try again, reincarnated, put in limbo until it’s time to be reincarnated (usually what happens to the children) or completely obliterate a soul entirely if the person’s deeds are TOO evil.

It should also be pointed out that Hecatia is stated as one of the leaders of the ministry of right and wrong by Eiki herself, however, it is also stated that they are SEVERELY understaffed, which is why Eiki keeps saying she has no sway to get anyone fired. With how understaffed they are to make a decision like that ALL the leaders have to make that decision and it has to be for something really serious.

THAT said, Just because she’s a Leader doesn’t mean she’s the boss of the Yama. If the Ministry is like any other ministry is that has ever existed, then it has departments. Like it’s said, Hecatia is the Goddess of Hell. Her Department would more than likely Management of Hell, not the Judicial Department that Judges the souls and send them there. These are two different departments with two different department heads, or Leaders to put it more simply.

So while she can’t boss Eiki or the other Yama around, at the same time, they can’t really say or do anything to interfere with her department either. The Ministry seems to operate like an assembly line, no one department holds more power than the other, they just exist to get the souls of the dead where they need to go.

“Why is it that I’m always surrounded by troublesome people with troublesome personalities?” It’s hard being the “nice” Yama when everyone around you makes your job so difficult.

“That said, however, personally antagonizing her is still uncouth, Satori Komeiji. She is Goddess of Hell and rules over it’s domain as well as the one supervises the souls atoning their sins there before they’re added back to the cycle of reincarnation. While she holds no sway in the ministry to get someone fired, she holds enough to make me and the other yama’s jobs harder. What if she goes on strike? We’ll be condemning souls with nowhere to send them. If too many souls get backed up they will stagnate and turn into wicked spirits.

That looks bad back on not only you, but me as your supervisor as well. While I understand that her personality is...difficult to work with, which is why it’s best to just nod and ignore her when she starts spouting her nonsense. Once she gets it out she usually leaves from personal experience.”

Again, I do not work for Hecatia. And she’s not THE Goddess of Hell, she’s A Goddess of Hell and that’s a very important differentiation people really need to understand.”
