He can rationalize giving his twelve year-old niblings a mind control tie or keeping the infinity-sided die to himself. Because it's harmless. Because he knows what he's doing. Because he can be trusted. Because he's right. He goes for the gold when it comes to mental gymnastics. If he really wants something, someone, he'll talk himself into whatever he feels necessary while feigning a lack of bias. And when Ford has come to certain conclusions, it's like pulling teeth to ever get him to think he's wrong. And, unfortunately, he's sunk his teeth into you.
š Perhaps Ford's fixation came from finding a kindred spirit in you. Someone who understood what it was like to be seen as weird. As a freak. Someone to be mocked and looked down upon for surface level differences rewritten as flaws by idiots who couldn't understand your intellect. Or maybe you're someone more normal, more down-to-earth. Someone amazed and in awe of his intelligence, of his accomplishments and adventures. He'd feed off your praise like a man starved, wanting doggedly to prove himself to you. To be of worth. To be of use. Or you could be an equal to him, someone just as smart and traveled. Quick to correct him, unwilling to go down without a fight in a battle of wills. There were precious little beings that Ford considered to be true equals to him. Realizing you were one of those few only drew Ford deeper into his fixation.
āļøYou know how in The Stanchurian Candidate when Ford went out of his way to replace the kitchen lightbulb with one specially made to never burn out and make one's skin softer? You're getting the full brunt of that. Ford aims to please and loves praise. Anything your heart desires, Ford will either retrieve or make for you. Even if you hadn't mentioned it to him beforeā¦ If you're willing to take advantage of Ford's desire for praise, you could have this six-fingered scientist wrapped around your finger. Call him a good boy and he's putty in your hands!
š Ford has kept numerous journals over the years. All of them pertaining to his fixations andā¦ Obsessions. You are no exception. The volume he's dedicated to you has a cover in your favorite color. He only has one at the moment, but he plans to write many more editions in your name. He loves to draw you and has pages filled with sketches and portraits of your form. Trying to capture your perfection in every angle. He might even consider you his Muse. Just the thought sends a shiver down his spine. He writes down every scrap of information on you he can find, whether it be details you've willingly surrendered to him or ones he's discovered throughā¦ Well, he doesn't like to call it stalking. He's researching you. And sometimes research, especially when researching someone so darling and dear to him, calls for unethical methods ā but then again, when has a concern for ethics ever stopped him before?
āļø And since ethics aren't a concern, why shouldn't Ford take this further? Why shouldn't he plant a miniature tracking device onto your person when pulling you in for a hug or clapping you on the back? Why shouldn't Ford install cameras around your home so that he can watch you whenever he wants? Why shouldn't he log everything you do into his journal, everything down to the most minute details. What's so wrong with that? It's not hurting you. And it's not his fault that he can't stop thinking about you. It's good that he's getting it all out of his head and onto paper. It's harmless. All he wants is to know more about you. Because he loves you. Ford loves you so much and he knows you belong together. That you are meant to be. He feels it so strongly and knows it so deeply that he can't possibly be wrong.
š In fact, he believes this ā knows it to be true ā so strongly that he drops all pretenses of purely normal, purely platonic feelings for you. Since when has he ever been normal? And why should he care if his feelings for you are abnormal? Why should he care if his feelings are intensely obsessive and all-consuming? And doesn't he deserve this after everything he's been through. Thirty years of utter Hell, fighting for his life, fighting to save his universe. Doesn't he deserve you? Your love, your reverence, your touch. To be comforted and loved unconditionally. It just feels right, like two puzzle pieces slotting together. Everything as it should be. And it feels good, feels right, when he asserts his hypothesis to you ā you and he are soulmates. You and he are meant to be. Not just mere lovers, but two souls tied together by fate. And it doesn't matter if you argue otherwise, because you must be too blind to see the truth. But, no matter. Ford knew he was right. Especially about you. And he'd help you understand his perspective, to see the way he did. And when he finally broke through to you, you'd finally reciprocate and love him back. And when has he ever been wrong before?

Mutually yandere Kirk and Spock. ESPECIALLY POST-TMP/ST3. It's the epitome of that reddit comment that's like, "You're both just enabling each other's mental illnesses. You're perfect for each other. Never change. Just never involve anybody else in what you've got going on." They're obsessed with each other. They're inseparable. It's been twelve damn years since they've last seen each other, like hell they're going to waste anymore time pretending to be casual. They're almost always touching. Shoulders brushed close together and pinkies interlocked behind their backs. Wherever one goes, the other follows.
It'd be suffocating for anyone else, but they can't ever get enough of each other. They're codependent and they're aware of it and they don't want to change. Why would they ever want to be independent of each other again. They've been pulled apart by the hands of fate and have had to wrench themselves free to return to one another time and time again. They deserve to have their whole lives revolve around each other. They deserve to be obsessive and possesssive. To ensure no one takes them away from each other ever again. Because Spock is Jim's sun, and his moon, and all of his stars. Because despite all logic dictating otherwise, Jim makes Spock consider a belief in soulmates. They want codependency, obsession, an echo chamber.
It doesn't matter what's considered healthy by societal standards. It doesn't matter if Bones says their "honeymoon phase" should have ended a long time ago. It doesn't matter, because all that matters is each other.
