I stumbled upon a busy hospital. It wasn’t intentional. I wasn’t sick but it caught my attention when I went out to photograph breathtaking scenes in village. Witnessing a doctor saving a life. He looked mad, desperate to keep a soul it’s own body. I never been this moved in entire life and since how I pictured my life would be. I make to realise maybe architecture isn’t truly my field. Perhaps just a hobby.

It’s was the first day of 2020 at midnight. I never thought I’d get a tattoo done on my wrist. I fear what my parents and my school would say. I violated a rule, I shouldn’t have. How did I even get drunk? Uh, I’m glad my parents are on a business trip or else I would have been lectured this entire day and miss the old lady I usually visit to collect rare jewels.
I have collected something really mesmerising. I don’t favour green but this emerald bracelet holds something special within. Could that be the key to the goddess heart?

once upon a time, her family was powerful. not in the sense of strength or of positions of political importance. instead, they lead an industry in a small grouping of towns. they owned the mines and everything was good. they had money, they had property, they had the promise of a good future.
but real life isn’t a fairytale, and jisu still remembers as things slowly changed. from the time she was six years old, every few months or so, they’d hit a period where it seemed like they’d begun to struggle – where it seemed like they didn’t have what she thought they did. and then, as quickly as it came on, they were back to where they were. it wasn’t until she was older that she understood. their mining business was struggling, and in order to keep the family afloat, they’d had to sell it off piece by piece.
now? it doesn’t belong to them anymore. while her parents still have a say in what goes on, she knows in her heart they aren’t nearly as influential as they used to be. to keep her own head held high, to keep herself from losing hope, she puts on a facade of self-importance. she pretends that she thinks she’s still the daughter of the mine owners – that she still has that future ahead of her. as a result, she’s quiet, almost mysterious, and she comes off as self-absorbed and disinterested in everything else. (but that couldn’t be further from the truth.)
someday, she wants to help her family return to the place of influence they one had. wants to help make the kwon family at least something like what it used to be.
she’s just not sure if her family will get their own happily ever after.

start a new legacy for her family. help their reputation move past what was and move on to what is and what will be. she can’t help but feel like her family name just reflects their failures and their financial downfalls (whether it’s true or not). keeping the family’s ties to the mine isn’t out of the question, but if getting rid of their connections to it means turning a new page? she’d consider it once that became her choice to make.
but if that fails? get out of wolhae! she always has the lingering feeling that people see her only for what her family has fallen from, and if she’s not able to change that, she’d rather go somewhere else. a big city where no one knows her name and she can blend into the crowd as just another girl.
experience things she normally wouldn’t. go to places she’d never go. try new and crazy things. just step out of every box she’s been born into and experience everything life has to offer. (she might not even mind getting her hands dirty in the process. …might.)

YANGWON FARMER’S MARKET - SURPRISING FUN!
hello again, dear readers! i hope you’re having a lovely and wonderful week!
a few weeks back, i had a few people suggest that i see what fun there is to do around yangwon. and i’ll be honest, it wasn’t super easy! since it’s a farming based town (if you don’t count jojamart), there isn’t a whole lot to do, as it’s all rather quaint and quiet.
well, i remembered seeing a flyer for the farmer’s market when i was walking home one day, so i thought i might as well check it out! the people there were so nice! and everything looked so pretty! you could tell they were proud of what they had to offer, and that they were happy you were there even just to look at what they had!
i wound up buying some fresh peaches, since i felt kind of guilty about just window shopping, and they were the sweetest, most juicy peaches i’ve ever had! i can only imagine how amazing the rest of the things there must be! i know i was certainly eyeing the stall with cheese. i think the sign said shellside ranch?
anyway, it was fun to see everything, and really eye-opening! although…it was warm, so i ended up really hot and sweaty by the end. thankfully, though, my makeup stayed up through it all! i’ll do a more detailed review of what i wore soon, so look out for it!

raised primarily by a mother who was doubtful of her ability to do right by her daughter, chae somin always had a vast collection of rules imposed on her; but, if a leash is too tight, the controlled will break free. and that’s exactly what somin did. as a teenager, there was no city in the world big enough to contain her spirit — she ran free and created something of a troublemaker reputation for herself, much to her mother’s anguish. she was never a bad kid, really, but rumors love to spread and there’s always words to be said about a girl who disobeys her mother in favor of disrupting the quiet peace of yangwon.
adulthood brought a newfound balance to her loud personality, but it didn’t cause her to fall into line. there’s still a certain rebellion that follows her — it can be seen in the little things. how she struggles to keep a job for more than a couple months, how she rolls her eyes as soon as she turns away from authority, how she fearlessly supports the joja corporation’s industrialization in yangwon. she’s always held some sort of disdain for this town which seems to never let anyone break free from its hold, and she puts no real effort into hiding that fact.

to find her niche. anyone who knows somin knows that she can’t keep a job; she’s worked at pretty much every business in town that would hire her, but has only stuck around at each one for a couple months before either quitting or getting fired. it’s not that she doesn’t want to work — she definitely does — it’s just that she hasn’t found anything that really speaks to her yet, and she’s not the type to settle for a job she doesn’t enjoy.
to leave yangwon. this has been a dream of hers for as long as she can remember — she’s never really liked how quiet yangwon is, and her mom used to make empty promises to her that they’d move to seoul once somin graduated. but, her graduation came, and they didn’t have the funds nor the means to leave. even now, somin could leave, but she would crash and burn if she left without some sort of savings fund or at least a half-assed plan.

yang minjun was born on a warm winter day to the mechanic yang seohyun and the fashion designer choi minhee as the last, and youngest child of three. at the age of two, they all moved from busan to yangwon, seeking for a peaceful, and warm place. as a mechanic, minjun’s father had to travel back and forth to the city, and his mother often travelled abroad for fashion shows, and exhibitions (and came back with gifts from all over the world, which minjun kept, and treasures still). minjun grew up with his siblings in a loving home, where their parents were never present, so every second with their parents became meaningful, kind of. the missing motherly touch, and fatherly rigorousness made him independent, and rebellious. when he was a teen, everything he did looked like a desperate cry for attention. as his siblings grew up and moved away, he found himself alone in an empty room of an empty home. hollow, and in need for social interaction and feedback from his missing parents, minjun stirred the pot every way he could: bad grades, injuries, explosive arguments, and worst of all, physical altercations. at the age of ten, he was diagnosed with adhd, which made it difficult for him to concentrate in school, or to stay still. this made his parents stricter in regards to his education, since they wanted him to have a future. his peers loved to make fun of him in school, call him uncultured and stupid. it pushed him away from people, but at the same time it made him get involved in matters dealing with human rights, fairness, and overall existence on earth. from a young age, minjun has been outspoken about the damaging behaviour of humans against nature, and the poor treatment of less fortunate species or minorities. he got into actual physical fights defending his opinions, and defending what he believed to be right.
his mental condition was not at all a complete hindrance. his restlessness made him seek a way to spend his extra energy constructively. hence, sports became a big part of his life. he has always been fascinated by extreme sports, and has always been open to the idea of performing them professionally, yet his parents would never let him stretch more than he already did. minjun collected a series of serious injuries due to his bold, and brave personality – some of them perhaps to attract the attention of his parents. his right arm was broken once while playing football (he is left handed, so that did not affect him), he fractured his knee skateboarding down the hill, injured his lip in a spikey fence while playing hide and seek (and lost a tooth that was thankfully not his adult tooth), injured his left elbow while cycling (his first attempt at racing), injured his hipbone practicing parkour, and more.
however, minjun is not just an adrenaline junkie. he is interested in a lot of intellectual matters, and in spite of his classmates and those who tried to push him down, he excelled privately in mathematics, and physics. this made him interested in a career in architecture, or interior design (he inherited a sharp aesthetic eye from his mother, and his father logical skills after all). he kept his grades mediocre in middle school since he was protesting against the ‘unfair system’, and that damaged his reputation. in high school, he tried to make up for it, but teachers still viewed him as ‘problematic’ because of his vocal opinions. still, they could not deny his sharp mind, and let him get to twelfth grade with pretty good results. he is planning on spending a year working after graduation, exploring his options, before enrolling into university and pursuing his study.

in the future he wishes to pursue a higher education in the field of architecture, or interior design. he wishes to be more involved in projects that support his personal opinions. he wants to help as many causes as he can, and if possible, he wishes to create his own non-profit organisation.
he has no wishes to disappear from yangwon, on the contrary, he wishes to return to the small town even after he gets his university degree and help the community grow in tolerance, and beauty.

Let girls wear pants! : On the unfairness of the school uniform
