padmes queen voice being artificially lowered in post to sound like the origin for Vader's low pitch and accent is crazy it makes me crazy that he was in that suit learning how to be a person again in a medical torture device & was like i guess i will mimic my dead wife's intonation she used in her stint as child queen to legitimise myself as the emperor's freaky cyborg wizard sonwife
Vader couldn’t handle watching his kids fight 💔💔💔 (AU comic where the rebels are captured trying to destroy the first Death Star and Leia is forced to train under Vader)
Hello, hello, my Anidala family! I'm sorry that this is a touch late (I wanted to do this before June), but I'm so excited to announce that we will be having Summer Anidala Week 2026 SOON!
This post serves as a way to get you to fill out this Google FORM, which includes many, many things like DATES for our events. This includes:
The JULY Anidala week (which has a set theme)!
An OCTOBER Anidala Halloween Event!
Our DECEMBER Anidala Yuletide!
I (mod shoobs) would greatly appreciate it if you filled this out ASAP! I'm trying to make a nice little calendar with everything in place, and want to give you guys time to get content ready :)
Please keep reading below for more small details, but the most pressing matters are all in that link, so tap tap tap!
For reintroduction purposes, I wanted to cover who our MODS are, just in case you have any questions:
𖤓˚࿔ | Mod Shoobs (she/her | @shoobscantsleep)
I am one of the main administrators of Anidala Weeks, so I handle everything boring, such as dates, times, FAQs, and responding to DMs. I also handle our AO3 collections, account, and tags. I'm probably the easiest person to go to for quick information, as I have it all on my handy-dandy computer, but I have a very loud brain, so give me about 24-48 hours on those DMs, friends! I promise that I will do my best to get back to you — I'm just running around all the time with work.
Only one thing has changed: I am no longer on Twitter for mental health purposes and have deleted the app (I'm under @/sunleasheddd over there.) I will do my best to get on there if I absolutely have to, but do me a solid and reach out on Tumblr, Instagram, or TikTok - all of my handles are @shoobscantsleep :)
𖤓˚࿔ | Mod J (Any pronouns | @calamitousvader or @anakincoded)
J is our other main administrator of Anidala Weeks, and they also handle many of our duties like reposting, letting shoobs know that information has slipped through the cracks, and helping out with polling for information, etc. They absolutely can answer many of the same questions that shoobs can, and have many more ways to contact shoobs if, for whatever reason, she goes AWOL.
The Tumblr contacts are listed above, but J is also on Twitter (@/sundragonheartt), so give them a ring over there if that's easiest for you!
I always do a big information post about two days after posts like this, with DATE and PROMPT Announcements, and I intend to do that again! I'm an announcement-heavy kind of person: there will always be a post a few days before any Anidala event with the general FAQS. As always, please please please reach out with any questions, concerns, or comments.
Our inbox is open, and I'm going to log into the blog every morning and night to check in (mod shoobs is in Central Standard Time (CST)). If, for whatever reason, you can't find shoobs on all three of her accounts (Tumblr, TikTok, Instagram) and are concerned, reach out to mod J — they have like, fourteen ways to contact me on my cellphone and I'm sure that it will reach me :)
We are super super excited, and may the Force be with you, my friends! Happy Summer Anidala Week 2026!
— mod shoobs :)
(PS- see the new tags below: we're anidalaweek2026 now!)
the use of AI lately has made me feel so hopeless, i translated pages of an unfinished fanzine of mine so i can remember why i love art...i hope it can resonate with anyone feeling the same way
My silly addition that I hope brings a smile to OP's face. Art is a beautiful thing in every single form, and even my silly finger-drawn art deserves to be shared. I hope that people are inspired to keep drawing, regardless of their perceived "skill". Do makes you happy, y'all! Spread the humanity. 🧡
Okay, some people seem to have this theory that because Anakin is naturally good at things, and can be impatient, he doesn’t try to pursue things that he finds hard, and just dismisses them as useless. I’m not sure though. He still pursued pod-racing, despite the fact that he never won and always crashed (though he mostly didn’t have a choice about competing). He still loved it, and never stooped to cheat either.
i think there's one major flaw in that theory, which is that anakin isn't naturally good at anything other than the same basic skillset that all jedi have; preternatural reflexes, psychic abilities and premonitions. anakin's skillset - a good mechanic, a good duelist, a good pilot, bilingual - are not things we have any reason to believe he had a natural knack for, and he is regularly described in the EU as working hard at each of these skills.
because, you know, if your boss could blow you up for not being useful, it's self-preservation to make yourself useful. in several legends novels, anakin as a kid is described as actively seeking to observe and learn mechanical skills because it makes him less disposable, which, yeah, you fucking would! if capital punishment was a ramification of Existing Wrong, you would work very hard to Exist Right. if anakin doesn't make himself a passable pilot fast, the podraces will turn him into a smear of marinara sauce in the desert. anakin's not a natural at any of these skills - weirdly gifted, yes, but a) he's psychic, and b) corporal punishment ensues if he isn't. if you were enslaved in a junk shop you would also learn your way around real fucking fast. i'm sure anakin is also a "natural" at scrubbing floors and organizing parts. i'm sure he's also a "natural" at stopping nosebleeds and picking his tiny carcass out of smoking podracer wrecks, and considering obi-wan is supposed to be one of the best duelists in the order, why are we surprised anakin turned out similarly? he was personally mentored to! that's not being a natural, that's having a good teacher who would not put up with your shit.
we don't really see anakin dismiss anything as too hard for him because that would fly in the face of his mile-wide desire to prove himself and his equally large, desperate ego; the nineteen year old who gets electrocuted into unconsciousness by a sith lord and then gets up to duel again isn't uninterested when shit gets rough. "laziness" is not a character flaw at play when the character in question is darth vader, who has a narrative arc rooted entirely in His Eternal Self-Enforced Servitude. there is so much that is wrong with him. i just need people to pinpoint the correct flaws.
@aces-to-apples no, you're 100% right, anakin does literally call himself a slow learner:
this is either anakin's idea of a witty comeback (really funny possibility) or he's just being literal. either way, we literally have no reason to disbelieve the idea that anakin maybe genuinely considered himself a slow learner, and regardless of whether that's actually applicable, that would indicate that he found his studies difficult and tried to succeed in spite of that. emphasis on tried, it is canon in my heart that he failed several space literature classes, to obi-wan's endless despair. anakin's literary analysis skills begin and end with, "i can summarize the plot." that bubble opera palpatine took anakin to was, like, space phantom of the opera, and anakin never caught palpatine's deft metatextual reference there. the space phantom sings "ONLY THEN CAN YOU BELONG TO ME" and palpatine's like, does he even realize the broader point i'm making? the depth of my ironic genius? and anakin's just like, wrow.... neat suit..... wrow
Okay, some people seem to have this theory that because Anakin is naturally good at things, and can be impatient, he doesn’t try to pursue things that he finds hard, and just dismisses them as useless.
I think where I struggle with this theory and would disagree with it is that Anakin isn't naturally good at most things.
Like, he's gifted with mechanics? But that doesn't extend to racing/flying. The point is specifically made in TPM that he's never even finished a podrace before winning the Boonta Eve. He's mainly a racing prodigy in that 1) he's a human, and 2) he's been able to survive as long as he has. But he's hardly the best racer out there.
As for Jedi stuff, he comes to the Temple way later than usual, so he's already at a huge disadvantage. We see kids around six years old practicing with lightsabers in AOTC, so that's something Anakin is going to be several years behind on when he enters the scene at age nine. Even as a nineteen-year-old, he's still not that great of a duelist and gets owned by Dooku no problem. But a few years later? He's able to take on Obi-Wan and Kit Fisto at once in a practice duel, and then is actually able to kill Dooku in ROTS. You know what I think he did? Recognized his own weaknesses and then practiced until he got better.
One aspect of Jedi life that Anakin seems talented at/okay with, and that he presumably had to learn, is meditation. It seems kind of weird when you consider the fandom take on him is that he never meditates when he needs to and avoids it at all costs. But in AOTC, when he's with Padme on Naboo and has nightmares about his mom? He meditates. In ROTS, when he's having nightmares about Padme dying? He meditates. No one makes him do this, no one forces meditation on him. When Anakin is struggling, he uses a tool that the Jedi provided him to help cope with the situation.
Also, I just want to leave this panel here:
You know, this panel. Where Anakin is vowing to stay and concentrate on honing a skill that he's not naturally gifted with.
And eventually, we get to see the outcome of that, when he's able to ride the reek in the arena at Geonosis during AOTC.
reblogging specifically for the panel wherein anakin is at hilarious levels of tweenaged stubbornness. obi-wan advises anakin that this skill will take time to master and that’s okay, and anakin responds with I WON’T MOVE FROM THIS SPOT UNTIL I’VE MASTERED IT I SWEAR ON MY LIFE, which is much more in line with the anakin we see on the screen than any idea of him simply being too lazy to apply himself to anything the jedi are trying to teach him. the anakin onscreen in the saga is dedicated to an absolute fault. he lacks in its entirety the ability to half-ass anything; he falls in love, he’s getting married in three weeks, tops. he swears himself to the sith, he’s murdering small children in half an hour, tops. he finds out he has a son, and he stops at nothing until he can give luke his evil elevator pitch. he’s a sith, so the jedi have to be evil, or he’s a jedi, so the sith have to be evil - when your worldview is so impossibly intense to begin with, it’s impossible to imagine that he’s a guy capable of any degree of chilling the fuck out.
in that panel, obi-wan has to act as a voice of reason between anakin’s impulse to obsess - in this case, on doing well at Jedi Things - and mediate, because anakin has a personality that doesn’t self-govern whatsoever. we see what he’s like, in brutal fashion, when he can fixate, obsess, and work with no interruption and no recourse, and that movie has a title, it’s The Empire Strikes Back (TM), and a lot of people die simply because vader flies off the handle when his carefully laid plans get fucked up, and luke loses a hand for that same reason. stuff like this, where anakin is a kid who desperately wants to be successful as a jedi, is just a smaller, innocent reflection of the same behavioral pattern; a complete inability to not be Doing The Most At All Times, Especially Right Now.
and it’s also why i still completely don’t understand the idea that anakin doesn’t pursue things that are hard, because, in an enormous way, that is actually one of the things that drives him batshit up the belfry, his complete inability to ever stop. his mom dies and he immediately swears he is going to try to rewrite the laws of life and death on the spot, and what’s worse is that, if you buy into the EU, on many, many, many occasions, he tries so hard to do just that. his arc is literally about trying to do the impossible. like, i get it, anakin is the villain and talking about his flaws is sort of the point of the story, but we have to begin with correctly identifying them.
