        “  it’s  not  necessarily  the  weapon  that  i’m  interested  in ,”  yasmine  finally  concedes ,  fingers  slipping  into  the  pocket  of  her  long  coat  to  find  the  loose  change  she’d  save  just  for  this  trip .  “  has  borgin  and  burkes  always  sold  cursed  muggle  artifacts ?”

arden conway: 

she had looked at the sea of people trying to make a point, trying to prove themselves that they were something so much more. she knows that she’s privileged with her parents having already been someone, and arden inheriting it from them but she had worked her ass off to get to where she was when it came to personal benefit. sure, she wasn’t well liked but at least people knew now to cross her. she had done a lot of sinister things during her years at hogwarts, always calculated, behind the scenes, the puppet master pulling the strings, the power that she wielded being guarded by a wall that she had put up, almost too afraid to let it go and unleash it. but being with yasmine had strengthened her, she felt like she could do anything. she had grabbed her hand instead, following after her in the crowd, a warmth spreading throughout her as she smiled at what she said. people tried too hard, she can see it now in front of her. she had quickly looked at her parents, too engrossed in a conversation, they wouldn’t even realize that she was gone. she continued to hold onto her hand, a curious eyebrow raised. “oh?” she said, loving surprises eager to know what she had to show her. she had looked around and let them somewhere they could disappear without anyone even noticing that they were gone. 

       it  hadn’t  been  her  intention  to  let  their  hands  meet ,  but  the  pull  it  brings  lifts  the  edges  of  her  lips  by  a  hair -  the  sincerity  of  the  moment  almost  as  fleeting  as  the  scenery  around  them  as  yasmine  pulls  arden  with  her  in  the  apparate .  she  had  brought  them  towards  the  big  house ,   now  taking  the  initiative  to  lead  the  other  through  the  front  door  and  up  the  stairs .  the  house  was  probably  empty ,  they  were  either  at  the  memorial  or  elsewhere  ,  but  yasmine  couldn’t  risk  it .  she  needed  the  assurance  that  the  conversation  the  two  would  have  would  be  away  from  prying  ears .  “ you  have  to  promise  me  that  you  won’t  tell  cherry ,”  yasmine  finally  says  as  the  bedroom  door  closes  at  her  force .  lying  to  cherry  had  become  the  hardest  consequence  to  face ,  but  she  needed  more  time .  the  ink  that  was  not  etched  permanently  into  the  skin  of  her  forearm  was  no  regret -  “ i’ll  tell  her  eventually ,  i  swear .  but  you’ve  always  understood  what’s  it  like  ,  arden .  that’s  why  i’m  showing  you  now ,”    a  shaky  breath  and  the  gentle  tug  of  the  long  sleeve   is  all  yasmine  gives  then .  her  eyes ,  however ,  are  fixed  on  arden’s  face .  this  is  a  risk -  she  realizes -  one  that  yasmine  doesn’t  know  if  she  was  willing  to  take  if  it  meant  bad .

arden conway: 

they both had a very different background growing up, she couldn’t imagine how hard it must have been for yasmine. a girl like arden found it hard to empathise or show compassion but yasmine had wiggled her way into her heart and now she had nothing but love towards her and her adopted sister. it was a feeling that she didn’t understand, but it was strong, and she trusted her with everything in her. “agreed.” she said, giving her hand a squeeze. “i think for some it’s a bit harder, being in the spotlight.” she says, looking towards her parents who were talking to the chief warlock. she had known the man to be calculated, he had come over at her parent’s mansion plenty of times for certain meetings, she had understood the intentions, it didn’t make it any less annoying how anyone else in the room was playing this game. she pursued her lips, looking over at her friend with a smirk. “i can get behind that.” she says, polishing off her drink. “let’s go, i’ve been dying to leave since we got here.” a bit of distasteful joke, but no one said arden had to be respectful to the people that she didn’t care about. 

       alll  yasmine  can  offer  is  a shrug ,  finding  some  sense  in  arden’s  words  but  it  didn’t  mean  much  to  sway  her  friend’s  words .  there  was  only  a  select  few  of  people  she’s  grown  to  care  for  and  that  bubble  had  open  to  include  her .  in  some  parts ,  arden  reminded  yasmine  of  herself -  a  completely  different  background  but  the  struggle  was  all  but  the  same .  “  i  think  that’s  the  difference  ,  though .  some  work  too  hard  to  be  in  the  spotlight .  but  you’re  more  than  capable  of  shining  without  all  the  attention .”  a   gentle  smile  tugs  at  the  corner  of  her  lips ,  reciprocating  the  squeeze  with  her  hand  before  standing  up  from  her  seat .  “ we’ll  head  to  my  home ,  how  does  that  sound ?  i’ve  got  something  to  show  you .”

           she  doesn’t  stop  herself  when  her  eyes  instinctively  roll  to  the  back  of  her  head.  still,  she  enters  yasmine’s  space  as  if  it  were  her  own  and  shuts  the  door  tightly  behind  her  —  and  it  wasn’t  that  she  didn’t  want  the  others  to  walk  in,  but  she  was  also  not  quite  as  ready  for  a  welcome  home  gathering  as  they  probably  would’ve  planned.  ❛  just  now,  actually,  ❜  she  admits  with  a  sigh.  ❛  my  plan  was  dinner,  but  i  felt  like  that  just  gave  S  &  E  more  time  to  plan  some  type  of  fancy  dinner  of  sorts  to  welcome  me  back.  i’ve  only  been  gone  a  week,  you  know.  ❜  albeit,  she  had  told  the  valentines  she  was  going  on  a  week  long  trip  to  learn  about  mystical  creatures.  a  lie  she  had  pulled  straight  from  her  ass  the  second  exams  were  through.  ❛  i  hope  you  enjoyed  your  week  vacation  from  me,  because  it  sure  is  over  now.  do  tell  me  you  did  at  least  something  enjoyable.  ❜  

         “ a  week  too  long  ,  in  my  opinion .”  yasmine  retorts  back  with  a  smile  that  is  ready  to  hear  all  about  cherry’s  trip .  many  things  had  indeed  happened  in  her  absence  but  that’s  a  conversation  yasmine  is  not  ready  to  have  -  there  was  always  a  better  time  and  place  for  more  serious  conversations .  “ they  bought  some  fresh  vegetables  earlier  , all  to  prepare  some  meal  for  your  welcome  back .  i  wouldn’t  be  all  that  surprised  if  it’s  something  overly  extravagant  ,  and  be  ready  for  the  questions .”  it’s  a  word  of  caution  to  cherry ,  preparing  her  for  the  inevitable .  obvious  lie  or  not ,  yasmine  didn’t  want  her  younger  sister’s  plan  to  foil  before  it  even  started .  “ enjoyable  ?  i  could  probably  name  a  few ,”  the  dark  mark  inked  on  her  forearm  did  not  count .  “ but  i  did  send  arden  an  owl  just  yesterday .  we  probably  should  break  her  out  of  her  own  personal  hell  sooner  than  later .”

amycus carrow: 

           amycus  began  to  pace  back  and  forth.  why  is  she  agreeing  with  his  life  ?  why  is  she  playing  along  ?  amycus  said  what  he  did  in  order  to  mess  with  her,  in  order  for  her  to  understand  her  wrong  doing  and  crawl  back  to  him.  WHY  wasn’t  it  working.  ❛  you’re  telling  me  i  can  never  love  when  i’m  too  busy  destroying  everything,  yet  here  you  are  doing  just  that  !  ❜  he  couldn’t  believe  how  evil  she  had  become  and  how  she  had  suddenly  made  everything  his  fault.  he  was  incredibly  angry  at  that  point  and  was  focusing  on  controlling  his  breathing,  failing  more  and  more  to  do  so  as  she  spoke.  ❛  fine,  ❜  he  yelled  over  her,  unsure  how  he  was  suddenly  able  to  scream  out  without  saying  more.  ❛  but  you  don’t  get  to  come  crawling  back  to  me  when  you  need  my  help  or  you’re  in  danger.  ❜  he  didn’t  know  if  she  would  ever  be  in  trouble,  but  amycus  would  try  to  work  on  not  crawling  back  to  her  himself  if  that  time  ever  came.

        “ don’t  you  hear  yourself ? ”  yasmine  asks  desperately ,  deciding  that  it  was  no  longer  productive  to  watch  amycus  as  he  paced .  the   disquietude  evident  in  the  way  his  facial  expression  became  wild  ,  “  i  am  only  doing  what  you’ve  done  the  entire  year !   but  i  have  learned  an  important  distinction  between  us  ,  amycus .  i  decided  to  end  this  because  i  loved  you  .  you  only  hurt  me  to  protect  yourself -”  there  had  been  a  time  when  yasmine  had  seen  the  good  in  him ,  the  parts  that  amycus  seemed  to  hide  from  the  world  balancing  all  of  the  bad .  but  had  it  all  been  an  illusion ?  had  he  really  convinced  her  ?  he  raises  his  voice ,    the  flinch  it  produced  from  yasmine  causing  her  to  close  her  eyes  .  it’s  easier  to  hear  her  rational  thoughts  when  she  couldn’t  see  his  muddy  spheres  ,  “ okay .”  the  one  word  is  not  steady ,  a  shaky  breath  rasping  at  her  lips  until  yasmine  musters  the  strength  to  open  her  eyes  again . “ it’ll  be  like  we  never  knew  each  other ,  if  that’s  what  you  want .”  if  that’s  what  he  wants ,  almost  like  she  was  begging  for  another  alternative  .

arden conway: 

it was nice to finally be with a friend at this thing, it made it a little more bearable for the girl who was strongly uncomfortable around people that she didn’t know with emotions way too high for her. it made her uncomfortable, the energy that was created in the hall. she had been gripping onto her glass of wine her fingers drumming against her box of cigarettes, yasmine standing next to her took the edge off as she watched her parents interact with others of the same mind. she had looked over at yasmine and smiled at her, loving her friends energy and agreeing with her. “i think some people are trying to save face.” she says, but she did roll her eyes at the thought of the daily prophet. “i’m sure the prophet will spin the story the way that they always do, despite the glaring evidence.” since that’s what always happened. she had leaned against her friend very briefly before sighing. “everyone here is so—” she stopped herself before using her hands as a demonstration, like she wanted to squeeze everyone out of frustration. “you know?” 

       lips  stay  pursed  for  a  moment  more ,  finding  comfort  that  arden  validated  her  thoughts  even  if  it  was  ramblings  that  she’d  believe  ridiculous  months  ago .  “ i  hardly  blame  them  for  wanting  to  appear  their  best ,”  the  sour  tone  betrays  her  words  ,  even  as  yasmine  finds  her  two  adopted  mothers  across  the  room .  with  each  passing  day ,  the  separation  becomes  more  apparent .  “ but  at  the  cost  of  what  ,  exactly  ?  only  cowards  hide .”  only  a   second  more  passes  before  yasmine  rips  her  gaze  away ,  the  touch  from  her  friend  more  than  welcomed .  a  small  smile  plays  on  her  lips  at  arden’s  words ,  finding  it  effortless  to  fill  in  the  words  missing .  “ i  do  know ,”  a  hand  is  now  settled  on  the  dip  of  arden’s  back  ,  providing  comfort  in  the  only  way  she  knew  how :  touch .  “ what  if  we  left  ?  there’s  nothing  else  left  for  us  here  ,  anyway .”

           ❝      oh   let   me   guess   ?      you’ve   got   some   witty   comment   ?      some   remark   you’re   so   sure   i’ve   never   heard   before   ?      well   save   it   .      and   before   you   ask   :      no   she   isn’t   mine      ❞      ellie   hissed   ,      as   close   as   she   could   to   a   snap   as   she   cradled   her   sleeping   niece   in   her   arms   .      as   milène   had   said   it   little   carolina   had   been   acting   all   of   the   terrible   twos   she   was   a   good   few   months   off   still   ,      and   even   in   sleep   she   was   a   troublemaker   still   .      writhing   and   kicking   in   her   sleep   every   so   often   ,     narrowly   missing   ellie’s   face   twice   .      ❝     well   then   ,      if   you’re   going   to   stand   there   and   gawk   make   yourself   useful   at   least   .      there’s   a   glass   of   firewhisky   on   that   table   there   but   my   arm   went   to   sleep   a   good   ten   minutes   ago   ,      hold   it   up   for   me   ?      ❞

     “  believe  me  ,  ellie .  i  knew  you  moved  quick  ,  but  not  even  a  speed  grow  could  grow  a  baby  in  some  weeks  since  the  end  of  term .”  yasmine’s  eyes  move  towards  the  infant  that  is  coddled  in  ellie’s  arms ,  the  distaste  she  had  for  children  not  as  suffocating  now  that  it’s  sleeping .   “ i  hope  the  drinks  for  you ,”  a  light  tease ,  but  as  she  reaches  for  the  bottle  to  her  right ,  yasmine  decides  that  she’s  ought  to  take  a  drink  too .  a  little  fire  to  soothe  the  anxiety  that  she  can  feel  radiate  from  ellie  .  “ who  decided  to  make  you  play  baby sitter ?”  yasmine  inquires ,  offering  the  whiskey  bottle  in   one  hand  and  the  other  brushing  her  friend’s  hair  back  to  make  the  drink  more  than  accessible  since  ellie’s  hands  were  more  than  full.  “  would’ve  thought  a  memorial  would  be  the  last  place  a  baby  should  be .”

jasmine borgin: 

she’d stepped away from the memorial, just outside the bubble of melancholy and folly to take a deep drag of a cigarette, blowing the smoke out slowly, savoring it. she had never been one for crowds, preferring the quiet of the shop, preferring the noise of her siblings over anyone else. but her circle was expanding and she was glad for the connections she was making, still it felt awkward trying to make them at such a service. she heard someone clear their throat behind her and turned to offer a half smile, and her lighter as she figured that’s what they wanted her attention for.

        it’s  become   more  clear  with  each  passing  moment  that  yasmine  regretted  coming  to  the  service .  it  was  a  bore ,  another  political  move  for  their  chief  warlock  to  proclaim  some  kind  of  peace  when  that  was  the  last  thing  she  wanted  to  feel .  living  in  that  denial  really  did  not  sound  so  appealing  any  more  -  “ smoking  is  past  me  now ,”  yasmine  kindly  declines  the  offer  even  though  the  nicotine  could  have  definitely  scratched  the  itch .  the  wix  falls  into  place  next  to  jasmine ,  eyes  now  fixed  towards  the  scenery  around  them  until  her  shoulders  fall  .  “ you  needed  a  break  from  what’s  happening  in  there  too  ?”

      “  what  a  load  of  bullshit ! ”  yasmine  cannot  help  but  laugh  at  the  thought ,  finding  the  overly  neutral  sentiments  casted  during  the  speech  humorous .  there  didn’t  seem  to  be  a  point  to  the  diplomacy  when  there  seemed  to  be  a  side  of  the  room  that  knew  what  that  meant .  the  daily  prophet  has  always  seemed  to  prefer  a  certain  narrative  but  yasmine  would  have  never  assumed  rodolphus  lestrange  to  succumb  to  the  same  now  that  he’s  chief  warlock .  “ the  dark  mark  was  found  over  their  bodies  the  night  they  died ,  no  ?   then  there  had  to  be  a  reason  why  it  happened .  sometimes  it’s  just  better  to  not  talk  so  loud .”

             cherilyn  had  decided  that  once  she  stepped  foot  off  the  hogwarts  express,  she’d  go  off  and  try  to  find  her  birth  mother,  unbeknownst  to  anyone  in  the  valentine  family  besides  yasmine.  the  great  thing  was,  she  had  found  carla  in  the  first  two  days  back  in  spain  —  a  relief  for  cherry  that  she  was  still  alive.  however,  she  had  an  entirely  new  family  of  kids  that  she  stuck  around  to  raise,  and  cherilyn’s  presence  was  far  from  welcome.  her  planned  week  long  trip  cut  short,  only  for  her  to  actually  spend  the  rest  of  it  traveling  around  her  birth  place  to  get  the  disappointment  off  of  her  mind.  truly,  it  wasn’t  something  she  wanted  to  bring  home  that  would  cause  evangeline  or  selene  to  pry  into  where  exactly  she  went.  instead,  upon  her  arrival  back  to  the  valentine’s  home,  she  went  straight  to  yasmine’s  room.  leaning  against  the  open  doorway,  she  watched  her  for  a  few  moments  until  finally  making  her  presence  known.  ❛  miss  me,  or  something  ?  ❜  

     “ i’ll  say  or something ,  just  to  spare  you .”  she  replies  with  a  laugh ,  the  smile  already  twisting  yasmine’s  lips  betraying  her  words .  her  attention  had  been  on  a  book  that  was  open  on  her  lap ,  but  now  it  moves  toward  the  open  door  as  she  spares  a  glance  towards  her  adopted  sister .  it’d  been  longer  than  preferable  since  cherry  had  left and  even  then ,  yasmine  didn’t  mean  to  pry  too  hard .  there  had  to  be  a  reason  why  cherry  had  decided  to  go  alone .  “when  did  you  get  back ?”  she  asks  then ,  finally  closing  the  book  and  tossing  it  aside  before  yasmine  decides  to  stand  up .  there  is  traces  of  concern  on  her  face ,  especially  once  she  invites  yasmine  into  her  personal  space  for  a  more  private  conversation .  it  was  very  rare  to  ever  been  given  privacy  in  a  household  this  large -  so  she’s  thankful  for  this  little  window  now .  “ i  thought  you  wouldn’t  get  back  until  dinner  time .”

             it’s  a  painful  realization ,  to  know  that  eventually  you  will  have  to  pick  a  path .  there’s  far  too  much  comfort  in  pausing  at  the  crossroads ,  waiting  for  someone  else  to  make  the  decision  for  you .  but  no  one  else  could  possibly  understand -  the  inner  conflict  raging  in  your  mind  only  continues  to  brim  over  .  but  you  know  one  thing  for  sure :  if  you  don’t  sacrifice  for  what  you  want , what  you  want  will  be  the  sacrifice .  

       yasmine  had  been  careful  to  come  back  home  with  her  arms  covered ,  citing  to  her  sisters  that  the  breeze  outside  was  enough  to  make  her  cold .  it’s  one  of  many  lies  she’d  told  that  day ;  the  reservations  that  the  witch  once  had  about  taking  the  dark  mark  dissipating  now  she’s  in  the  privacy  of  her  own  room  once  more .  the  site  of  the  ink  still  twinges  with  a  faint  burn  but  it’s  nothing  like  it  had  been  during  the  ceremony .  it  had  just  been  her  there ,  standing  in  the  middle  of  others  that  were  marked .  some  looked  familiar  (  probably  from  the  portraits  she’d  seen  on  the  wall  when  she  was a  child )  and  others ,  parents  of  classmates  .  she’s  beginning  to  understand  the  intoxication  that  comes  with  power .  

       the  only  sensible  idea  that  comes  to  mind  is  to  trap  a  quill  in  her  fingers ,  gathering  a  piece  of  aged  parchment  .  yasmine  takes  a  moment  to  breathe ,  confronting  the  promise  she’d  made  a  month  ago  .  it’s  the  first  one  she  hadn’t  broken since  deciding  that  a  certain  wizard  didn’t  deserve  her  time  any  more . 

          my  dearest  amycus , 

     you  musn’t  worry  anymore .  it’s  been  done .

       with  love .  this  had  been  done  with  love ,  one  for  a  love  that  was  far  too  lost  to  salvage  and  another  that  sought  to  protect  .  it  was  ironic ,  she  thinks  to  herself ,  she  swore  that  taking  the  dark  mark  was  done  to  protect  cherilyn  but  she  has  no  clue  to  what  had  happened .  however ,  all  she  can  think  about  now  is  how  she’s  never  felt  so  close  to  her  birth  parents  since  being  torn  apart  from  them .  it  was  their  blood  coursing  in  her  veins  and   their  ideologies  imprinted  in  her  mind -  not  the  valentines .  why  had  she  ever  thought  different ?  

        she  folds  the  letter ,  wondering  if  she  should  even  send  it .  he’s  not  the  full  reason  she’s  got  the  dark  mark  ,  but  it’d  be  foolish  to  deny  the  influence .  so  without  another  thought  ,  yasmine  calls  for  her  owl .  it  perches  by  her  window ,  outstretching  it’s  foot  without  question  as  it  waits  expectantly .  yasmine  ties  the  letter  securely ,  giving  the  owl  an  endearing  pet  before  ushering  it  away .  

there’s  no  going  back  from  here .

         the  first  sentence  that  left  her  mouth  began  to  ring  over  and  over  again  in  his  ears,  completely  drowning  out  any  thoughts  he  had  —  and  he  had  a  lot.  his  mouth  grew  agape  as  his  brows  began  to  furrow  even  more,  his  vision  finally  settling  on  her  again  in  disbelief.  as  her  words  were  still  repeating  in  his  mind,  he  couldn’t  hear  anything  else  she  said.  his  only  indication  of  her  speaking  being  the  way  her  mouth  moved,  and  while  he  usually  loved  the  way  her  lips  moved,  he  hated  them  now.  “  i  never  loved  you  anyway,  ”  he  replied  nastily.  it  was  a  lie,  a  painful  one,  but  one  that  came  out  of  his  mouth  rather  easily  now  that  he  decided  it  was  so  —  because  she  decided  it  was  so.  “  i  never  asked  you  to  fight  any  of  my  demons  the  same  you  never  asked  me  for  yours.  whatever,  ”  he  scoffed,  using  his  anger  as  a  mechanism  to  fight  back  any  tears.  but  they  weren’t  there,  and  probably  wouldn’t  appear  ‘til  long  later  down  the  line.  with  his  hands  in  the  air,  amycus  took  multiple  large  steps  behind  himself,  making  the  space  between  them  grow  cold.  “  am  i  good,  now  ?  am  i  good  enough  for  you  yet,  yasmine  ?  here’s  your  space,  here’s  some  room  since  i’m  so  god  damn  suffocating.  you’re  the  suffocating  one.  ”

       she  had  expected  the  strike  back ,  the  venom  laced  in  his  words  however  still  producing  a  sting  that  causes  her  chest  to  feel  heavy .  but  instead ,  yasmine  braces  herself -  standing  sure  in  her  decision  despite  the  sinking  feeling .  it’s  ironic ,  she  thinks  to  herself ,  she’d  expected  to  float  when  she  released  the  anchor  he  held  on  her  but  instead ,  she  just  felt  like  drowning .  “  i  could’ve  told  you  that  myself ,  amycus .”  she  says  back ,   hands  folding  into  themselves  into  a  fist  at  the  lie .  “  instead  of  fighting  me ,  you  choose  to  protect  yourself .  your  selfishness  blinds  you  to  anything  good  -  you’ll  never  be  able  to  love  someone  when  you  are  so  busy  destroying  everything .”  her  eyes  burn  with  tears  that  threaten  to  spill  over ,  but  yasmine  refuses  to  let  herself  be  any  more  vulnerable  with  him .  he  had  lost  that  right  long  ago .  “  but  the  one  thing  i  will  not  let  you  do  is  manipulate  my  words .  i  never  said  you  were  suffocating ,  amycus .  but  this -”  she  forces  one  hand  open  to  jab  a  finger  onto  his  chest .  “ this  is  suffocating .  is  your  need  for  attention  so  big  that  you  seek  out  to  say  anything   in  the  hopes to  produce  a  reaction ?”

       “  i  remember  having  one  in  third  year ,  thought  it  was  amusing  for  a  week  or  two -  but  i’ve  always  thought  it  was  strange  that  it’s  supposed  to  aid  one  in  jogging  their  memory  ,  but  it  all  it  really  did  was  frustrate  me  more .”  yasmine  offers  a  shrug  ,  though  her  eyes  stay  fixed  on  the  magical  item  as  he  tries  to  sell  his  point .  “ you’ve  list  six  in  your  head ,  but  who  is  to  say  that’s  the  particular  thing  you’ve  forgotten  and  will  find  again  ?”

arden conway: 

arden loved making a spectacle of herself, she did love attention, this wasn’t news to anyone. she was loud, and sometimes very brash, a little bit arrogant but she did mean well. her parents had spoiled her as a means to keep her happy because they were never around. her father was a hit wizard and her mother worked in department of mysterious, she couldn’t remember the last time they had a meal together. not having arden there was a saving grace for all of them. “nothing wrong with being confident.” she said with a shrug and a wide smile. with the small gesture makes arden feel almost warm inside. while she was loud and vibrant not many people knew her or even loved her, she didn’t know what that feeling was, or a strong friendship. though, she supposed if she were to have one, it would have been with yasmine. arden had nodded, fully knowing well how they were and could sympathise. “i don’t know how you do it. i probably would have bit their head off by now.” she says. she shrugged her shoulders, “not really. they’re both very busy people. i’m deciding where i want to go on holiday now that i have loads of free time.” she says, thinking about the diary of all the places she had made a list of when she first started at hogwarts, she had crossed off many places. “do you want to get drunk with me?” she asks, wanting to forget about shitty family members and future responsibilities. 

     “ did  i  say  that  confidence  was a  bad  thing ?”  yasmine  asks  as  a  light  tease ,  her  free  hand  now  moving  to  twirl  the  loose  strand  of  hair  on  her  shoulder  as  her  expression  is  replaced  with  a  smile  as  it  retracts  away  from  arden’s  person .  “ because  you  have  always  worn  it  without  shame ,”  it’s  said  like  it’s  an  obvious  statement .  “ and  that’s  precisely  why  i  know  for  a  fact  that  you’ll  be  a  force  to  reckon  with  once  it’s  your  turn  to  leave  hogwarts .  it’s  always  been  a  place  to  limits  what  people  like  you  can  do -- and  you  mustn’t  forget  that .”  the  brunette  briefly  replays  the  words  amycus  had  just  said  to  her  weeks  ago ,  how  her  blood alone  was  enough  to  be  the  driving  force  of  power  yasmine  had  been  searching  for  her  entire  life .  “ i’ll  be  honest ,  i  still  think  about  it  at  times .  but  i  will  not  deny  that  the  free  shelter ,  food ,  clothes ,  and  all  that ... it’s  been  nice  to  not  worry  about  that .  come  the  right  time ,  i’ll find  the  inheritance  my  real  parents  left  me  so  i  haven’t  got  to  depend  on  the  valentines  anymore .”   it  feels  less  strange  to  talk  like this  ,  especially  with  cherilyn  not  within  ear  range .  “ when  i  finally  find  my  own  place ,  you’re  always  more  than  welcome  to  stay  with  me .  i’m  sure  we  will  easily  find  ways  to  fill  your  time ,  will  get  you  out  of  trouble  somehow .”  the  same  lopsided  smile  stretches  on  her  lips  at  those  words ,  only  taking  a  small  moment  to  ponder  arden’s  invitation .  “ where  to  ,  my  love ?  it’s  my  treat .”
