I just got out of an advanced screening of #HouseoftheDragon! Before I give my impression, I have to flex my nerd-cred a bit. Some of you may know that I have been a “Song of Ice and Fire” reader for over 20 years. It was my favorite book series for a long time and I used to re-read the first 3 books every year. I cosplayed Daenerys in 2011, the year the Game of Thrones show came out, met George at SDCC, who brought me backstage to meet the cast of the show while in costume(full story in my book). I watched the show religiously, all 8 seasons, for almost a decade, and… well, the last season hurt me bad. Those who know know 🙄… Naturally, this means I have been on the fence about House of the Dragon. The lore surrounding the Targaryens stayed with me the most from the books, so I was really intrigued by the idea of the prequel covering some of the events only mentioned in passing in the books. But also, ya girl has trust issues now LOL! So tonight was a great opportunity to watch the 1st episode without any outside influence and form my own opinion! And I must say… I’m into it! I will keep watching! And I won’t say anything beyond - it’s freaking good to be back in Westeros. Thanks so much @hbo and @hbomax for the screening invite. You’ve soothed this old book-reader’s heart a bit. @houseofthedragonhbo comes out next week! Will you be watching? Are you excited or skeptical? 👀 https://www.instagram.com/p/ChTTW7kOpO1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
