Scenes from yesterdays Dohee Lee workshop
Dreams, artistic process, purpose, happiness, ancestry -- diving into understanding and questioning the self at yesterdays workshop with the very wonderful DOHEE LEE. She guided us through the generation of small group collaborations using our voices and movement to tell the story of who we are. We will be using this seed of material and creating a performance that will be showcased at the Youth Arts Summit at SOMarts on December 6th!!!! thank you to Dohee for her kind, unique and clear direction.
Having discussion on ancestry, artistic outlets and dreams, Dohee and the Yaaws learned more about each other on a more personal level. Part 1
Yaaw Workshop with guest artist Dohee Lee! Using sound and physical expressions, Dohee leads the Yaaw in a performance exercise that helps the Yaaws express their many emotions.
Saturday 15/11! Market Street Prototyping Design Meeting #2!
We met with youths from partner organizations, Jova, and Jake to refine and build on our designs! After Jake showed us some accepted proposals on the Market Street Prototyping Festival website we got an idea how innovative these other ideas were! We are just as creative! After Jova and Jake reviewed all the groups ideas and gave feedback on how to simplify/develop the ideas we had solid sketches and ideas to make models from. From compost box benches to family-friendly graffiti walls, these ideas are off the walls! Using cardboard, wires, glue, toothpicks models are in the works! Can't wait to see how these models and ideas turn out! -Clarissa (New Intern!)
Saturday Meetup
Hey everyone its Vanessa!
Sooo on Saturday myself and the other YAAW alumni's met with the youth from organizations were partnering up with for the Market Street Prototyping Festival!! We met with the amazing JOVA and Jake who is going to help us design our ideas through out this whole year! Jake explained to the org's what the Market Street Prtotyping festival is and lead us through some sketching exercises to evolve ideas!
We all split into 4 groups, my group was the "Community Group" and we came up with this "smartbrella" idea where we came up with this Solar panel umbrella photobooth to help people interact. The umbrella will help block the sun on a hot sunny day or block the rain on a rainy day. We also came with the idea of a photobooth attached to it where people can take pictures and write their names on the picture and explain their mood of the day. On the other side other people will be able to view these pictures and see the different type of people that have sat on the "Smartbrella" through out the day! People will also be able to take their own copy home! :) The smartbrella would also include a plug to charge your phone for one of those days when your phone is dying you have an emergency plug! This im pretty sure would attract a bunch of teens and adults! We would put this near a bus stop?
