The Good Place is an excellent show for many reasons, but one that doesn't really get talked about enough, probably because of how the season 1 twist obscures it, is that the 'No Exit'-esque "Hell is Other People" scenario for an afterlife of eternal torture is an avante garde experiment from an Auteur demon who's trying to convince the other demons of his Vision while they're like "idk man flaying genitals works really good"

Yes I’m sad it’s the final season. HOWEVER, the fact that they know going in this is the finale has me confident that they will really bring it home and wrap the show up perfectly. I just know it’s going to be great.

Like there is a blessing in having the opportunity for a proper solid ending to a story and to write the end knowing it’s the end. It allows the writers to have a heads up so that when they write this season they know that this is the finale that they will leave the audience with definitively.

I think a definitive ending written for a for sure final season will always be better than a vague one due to the unknown.
