Some mushroom ladies drinking tea
in preparation for this pride month i need all of you to finally learn that ace is NOT aromantic and learn the fucking difference i am so fucking sick and tired of people saying "x character is uninterested in romance, theyre ace :)" NO THEYRE NOT!!! THEYRE AROMANTIC!!!!!!!!!! THATS NOT WHAT ASEXUAL MEANS!!!!!!!!!!!
you guys know you can get USB connectable CD, dvd, and blu-ray players right. and you can buy external hard drives with crazy amounts of space for an amount of money that would make the average person from 2009’s head explode bc of how cheap it is. and if you do this and get ripping software such as handbrake for CDs and DVDs and makeMKV for blurays you can both own a physical copy of whatever media you want and make it accessible to yourself no matter where you are. do you guys know this
lots of people are reblogging this and tagging it #piracy—i should clarify, this is not piracy! ripping DVDs and CDs to have your own copy is fully legal, because it’s your legal right to do what you will with your property individually. it only becomes illegal if you then distribute that file on the internet.
My notes during a meeting
Professor Doctor Sir Terence David John “Terry” Pratchett OBE BM (Blackboard Monitor), 28th April 1948 - 12th March 2015.
GNU Pterry.
Mind how you go.
Happy birthday, Terry.
@dduane & I will raise one.
Well, two.
It won't be bananana dakry, that stuff is stickly - both sweet AND adhesive, like dried Lucozade on a smooth surface - but a large dram of Connemara single malt with-a-splash and a glass of well-rounded Merlot should be just the ticket.
Cheers!
i love this because it's like. why did paleolithic peoples paint the hunt. perhaps to celebrate and honour brave deeds that kept the community alive. perhaps to bring luck for future hunts. perhaps to instruct those who came after how to slay the beast. perhaps to remind us we can: that the mammoth is not unkillable.
this graffiti, too, serves those purposes!
Screenshot from Facebook because I didn't feel like finding the original Tumblr post. Schönwerth's collection is great and if you are at all interested in folklore you need to give it a read pronto.
Une histoire de survie
Here’s an invaluable writing resource for you.
Was looking for this information just yesterday. Thanks so much.
Y’all I could have used this so many times before oh my good god
I’m sorry but I’m not convinced I’m going to get 600 miles in a single day traveling by pigeon.
I just had to collect all of these responses together in one place
Edit: And one from my friend, who doesn't have a tumblr (yet)
#i keep waiting for someone to address the '18th century looms were huge' claim#like sure some were#but the fact that textile mills had been invented doesn't mean that all home weaving ceased#indeed people still weave for fun or profit in this the 21st century#smaller looms were still being built and used in the 18th century just as smaller looms are still being built and used today#and that's without considering the existence of inkle/tape/band looms which were/are used for making narrower woven ribbons for trimming etc#small 18th century looms absolutely exist
there are thousands of notes and a few people ABSOLUTELY addressed this xD
I wanna add mine! But it still has some assembling to do before I can move on to the next step
I don’t have a loom but I have two spinning wheels and a handful of drop spindles somewhere, if that’s any help.
a lot of interpretations of the dark academia aesthetic can come off as kind of exclusive, so as someone with adhd, i present to you: dark acadhdemia
a messy room that looks like a tornado came through, tried on every coat, scarf, and sweater, and scattered them all about again. the only thing the mess hasn’t touched is the immaculate desk, which looks like it gets more use than the bed.
notes written on papers and hands, up margins and arms, organized in a system that would make no sense to anyone else.
the rush of hyperfocus dying down as you finish the final chapter and realize how late it’s gotten, shouldn’t you be in bed by now?
your mind is racing and you can’t sleep tonight. maybe you sneak out the back door to look at the stars, because they look as scattered as your thoughts. maybe you sit inside, turn on the last light on the block, and put every incoherent idea in ink on paper to decipher in the morning.
somehow your notes have turned into scribbles, little doodles of the elegant eyes of the girl sitting across from you, the crooked nose of the boy three seats down, your best friend’s smile as they catch the subtle joke the teacher just cracked, the teacher’s graceful hand on the chalkboard, and suddenly you remember that you’re in class.
you could have read faster, but that one line just stuck in your head and your heart so strongly that you had to read it over and over again, underline it, and note it in the margin. on the next page, you fall in love with another turn of phrase, and then another, and then… such is the peril of a good book.
it’s getting late, and you find yourself gazing into the flame of your candle, an incomplete essay on the desk. you don’t think you could possibly finish it; you’re already toeing the word limit, but there’s just so much more to write.
