iCMD 1.0.4 Available in the App Store
Added support for TP-Link: Wireless N Router TD-W8961ND.
And iOS 8.
What routers does this app currently support?
**** Officially Supported and Tested Router List (Updated: 8 October 2015)- 2Wire : 2701HG-G Gateway
- D-Link: DIR-628
- Linksys: E1200 N300 Monitor
- TP-Link: Wireless N Router TD-W8961ND
Note - iCMD should also work with similar models from these manufacturers, though there are no guarantees until they are tested!
**** The next router to be added will be TP-LINK TD-W8961ND
**** I will also be adding some more help screens and a debug feature to help with routers that have not yet been tested with iCMD
TP-Link Anyone?
This could be the next candidate for iCMD control!
TP-Link Wireless N Router (TD-W8961ND)
Any instructions for 3800hgv-b. It shows me the wireless settings menu in the app but doesn't change anything
The 2Wire 3700HGV-B web page looks almost exactly the same as for the 2Wire 2701HG-G. I would expect iCMD to work (if the admin name and admin password are correct; this is not the same as the WiFi password and WiFi network name that users enter to connect).
If the admin name or password is not correct, you would see the main router page displaying at the bottom of the app, not the 'Wireless Settings' page.
If the above is correct, please email me the source code for the 'Wireless Settings' and 'Admin Login' pages:
Right click in a web browser when you are on the web page and click 'View Page Source'
Then right click in the source HTML page and click 'Save As ...' and send me the file(s)
Then I can test my code against it and find what is tripping up the app. And I will upload a new version of the app with 2Wire 3700HGV-B support.
Thanks for reaching out. I can't wait to find out what's messing up iCMD! ... and fixing it!!
Can I control iCMD when I am away from home? Can I do something like set up dyndns and make it work remotely? Thanks!
Hello,
I can’t say I have tried ‘dyndns’. I have only tested on the home WiFi network. It might work. I suppose it would just use a different URL from the regular kind; for example ‘http://myHomeRouterURL.something’ instead of ‘http://192.168.2.1’.
I can send you a promo code to get the app for free, if you promise to update me on whether it works away from home. I imagine that you would need a router that has the ‘remote administration’ option, unless the ‘dyndns’ setup does pretty much the same thing for a router not having remote admin??
Let me know if you want to try, and if you could tell me the make and model of router you are using.
I was on vacation for most of August, sorry for the late reply.

How about version for AirPort Extreme ? I'm all apple in my house, with 3 teenage sins, could really use it.
As far as I know Apple uses a proprietary interface to control their Airport devices (it doesn't use a web page like other WiFi routers).
One thing that might help you is the Apple 'Airport Utility' App. You could use iMessage to send a message, and then later use the Airport App to disable/enable the WiFi.
... sorry for the late reply
I am very interested in your app as it is the only one I see that seems to allow my kids to still read their books and listen to their music. Is that correct? Also will it just disable their wifi but not mine/ spouse? Can I set a time for it to restart? I really want to be able to have Wifi turned off during the night and for some of the day but not turn off all of the device. Will it do this and can I set it for on a regular schedule?I know a lot of folks that might love this app too if itdo
That's right, your kids can still run anything on their devices, as long as it doesn't need the internet. So listening to songs or reading books already on the device works normally. Chatting with buddies on Facebook will not be possible!
Your normal Wifi network is disabled, so nobody can connect to it. But iCMD uses an alternate network name to allow it to continue to control the router (which you define in the app). You and your spouse and others can also use the Wifi; just tell them the name of the new iCMD network (new SSID) and your Wifi password, and you're good to go! But don't let the kids know this, Ssshhhh.
Right now there is no calendar schedule/feature. Though, you can use iCMD to turn the network on or off whenever you want. After you disable the normal Wifi network you could tell iCMD to re-enable the network after a really long delay, but iCMD would have to be on all the time (not in the background), and your device 'Auto-Lock' set to 'never'. There are ways to schedule tasks in iOS when the app is sent to the background, but that is more code that I would need to develop and play with.
If there is enough demand I might invest the time to code a scheduling option!
Thanks for your interest and the great ideas! [|;-))
Take care,
Darcy.
Please can you explain what I have to do to use the app? i can't seem to put the details for the router in even though I read the instructions. Thanks
Hi,Can you get to the Router Details page?To get there from the main screen you can tap the Info button (the little i), swipe left/right/up/down across the screen or double tap.If you can, tap the Choose button to select 2Wire, D-link, or Linksys. Then tap the URL that matches your router URL. Typically the selection wheels line up for the default router manufacturer/URL pair. If not, you need to find your router URL in router manualThen enter your Admin name, Password, and a New SSID (whatever you want to name as an alternate WiFi network, to allow iCMD to turn the router back on later for all the other users).Note, for D-link or Linksys, the default Admin name might be blank/empty.Tell me if any of this helps or if I am completely out in left field. To more easily communicate you could email me at [email protected] or reply back here. All the best,Darcy.

Fixing French Language iCMD iOS Bug
Hello, I am currently fixing a problem for devices set up in French. This causes the WiFi router to speak French which iCMD doesn’t understand yet.
A way to make this work is to change the language to English in Settings … but that takes 30 seconds or so which is bothersome.
I’ve already got the fix working for 2Wire routers, so you won’t have to wait too long for there to be an update in the App Store.
