the bowe sister (Courtney Miller x Fem!Reader)
summary: you are Tommy's sister and you've been working at Smosh for two years now, so when you realise that you have romantic feelings for the one and only Courtney Miller, the first person you run to in the new office is your big brother.
warnings: fem!reader, reader is implied to be queer, reader is referred to using Y/N and they/them pronouns, they/them pronouns for Courtney too, you are labelled as Tommy's sister in this so if that is not what you want please don't read
author's note: I have made it my own personal mission to write more Courtney Miller x Reader oneshots because I love Courtney and tumblr doesn't seem to have many (I adore Shourtney but let me have some courtney x reader) I do also want to write oneshots about other Smosh members though when I get used to writing Smosh fanfiction, also feel free to leave any suggestions of which Smosh member fanfiction you do want to see cause then maybe I can start making lists of ideas. Also the gradient of the text has nothing to do with the queerness of reader because reader is you, it looks like the lesbian flag because I've just learned how to do gradient text and I'm excited

"Alright that's a wrap on try not to laugh!"
You clapped along with the other crew members present for the shoot after Emily Rose called it on the shoot for a new TNTL episode. You loved sitting behind the camera and watching your brother and his friends do their thing, well, they were also your friends now as well but you were very much not a cast member and preferred the behind the camera work.
Everyone filtered off of the TNTL set and Courtney was the first one to approach you instead of your brother. They sat down next to you and gave you a smile, it was just a normal smile but something in your stomach did butterflies when they looked at you like that.
"How was I?" Courtney asked as she got comfortable on the chair next to you.
"You were amazing as always, Court." You replied as you crossed your arms over and kept your eyes on her. "I can't wait for the fans to see all your bits in this episode."
Courtney hummed happily. "Well, it's lunch time right now, do you want to sit together? I'd like to hear your thoughts some more."
"Like work thoughts or general thoughts?" You asked as the both of stood up, grabbing your things as you walked out of the set room to head to the kitchen.
"Both! Anything that you want to talk about I will happily listen." Courtney replied.
That's what sent the butterflies in your stomach off even more. You could feel the subtle blush creeping up your neck and into your cheeks, your heart had definitely also sped up. You could feel it pounding against your chest as Courtney smiled at you and walked so close to you that you could brush shoulders against each other. The thing is you knew this feeling, you had felt this feeling a million times before when you lived in Florida but was too scared to act on it due to how unsafe Florida can be, you knew you were down bad for the Courtney Miller.
First thing you needed to do was find your brother.
"Actually! Crap, I forgot, I need to talk to Tommy about something important. I'll come find you later?" You said, hoping it sounded convincing enough for you to leave.
"Yeah of course, I'll be in the kitchen when you're done." Courtney said and continued to the kitchen.
As soon as they were out of sight you bolted your way through the building, you knew where Tommy was during this time and you were correct like always. You found him in the green room with Spencer, the two of them chatting about something games related until you burst in and looked at them with such panic that the conversation simply dropped dead.
"Sis? You okay?" Tommy asked as he watched you pull the curtain of the green room closed and lock the door. "Okay, you gotta talk to-"
"I have feelings for Courtney!"
Spencer and Tommy's jaws dropped faster than you could even register, the both of them staring at you in shock until your rapid pacing broke them out of their trance.
"I don't even know how it happened-I mean, I've always felt different around Courtney, but I just thought it was because I was closer to them, but today when we were walking to the kitchen they wanted to sit with me and here my thoughts. They were smiling and they were walking so close to me I could feel our shoulders brushing and my heart sped up and I don't get crushes randomly and it's more than little because this has happened to me before and-"
By the time you had gotten halfway through your rant, Tommy and Spencer had somehow managed to walk up to you before guiding you to sit on the couch. Tommy was sat next to you with a hand on your shoulder while Spencer opened the fridge to see if there was any water or juice, something that would help you calm down a little.
Tommy carefully squeezed your shoulder to bring you back into the room. "Y/N, it's okay, take a deep breath." Tommy breathed in deep with you as the both of you did a breathing exercise for a moment. "We will figure this out but just breathe, okay? We can't figure it out if you don't breathe."
Spencer was now sat on the other side of you and handing you a bottle of orange juice. "So, this is definitely 'in love with Courtney Miller holy fuck' type of situation, not just butterflies in the stomach?" He asked.
"I don't get 'just butterflies', these feelings...it's like I'm in Florida again and in love with my best friend that I can't have." You mumbled as you opened the orange juice and took a few sips.
"And cause it was Florida...that didn't end well." Tommy added, remembering how you called him crying when your ex best friend that you had fallen in love with in high school had turned against you when you came out to them. Not just cutting you out of their life but they had launched a full on hate train against you which had made your final years of high school the most miserable and hurtful years of your life.
That moment had also left you emotionally scarred, even though you got out of Florida and you've always had your brother by your side, it still became a permanent mark in your mind and made having romantic feelings for anyone more terrifying than it probably should be.
Spencer nodded and watched as you took some deep breaths. "Courtney's not like that though, I mean, they're queer themselves so surely if you spoke to them plainly then they would have a better reaction." Spencer said.
You just huffed a little as you stared at the floor. "I know they're queer, but it's terrifying...and they might not even feel the same way." You pointed out as you leaned into your brother's arms.
"Sis, you won't know until you talk to them, besides if you bottle it up then you're going to come to work every day and you're going to start shutting them out and they'll notice. Courtney notices everything about you." Tommy argued back as he rubbed your back to help you feel better.
"Yeah, you're right." You muttered.
Then you just groaned in frustration as you leaned back into the couch and covered your face, shoving Tommy off of you carefully in the process. "Why does being in love have to be so hard?" You asked.
Tommy and Spencer looked at each other before they looked back at you. "Wanna listen to this new game video we've got coming up to take your mind off it?" Spencer asked.
"Is Courtney part of the call sheet for that video?"
You sat there and drank your orange juice as you listened to Spencer and Tommy talk about the upcoming games shoot, it did help distract you, unfortunately it worked a bit too well.
Eventually Spencer and Tommy had to leave the green room and when they opened the door Courtney was standing there about to knock.
"Hey. have you guys seen-"
Courtney stopped when they saw you sitting on the couch and obviously worrying about something. They walked over and sat down next to you, placing their hand on yours and looking at you worriedly.
"Are you okay? You looked stressed." Courtney said as they held your hand.
You looked over at Tommy and Spencer, your brother simply nodded before closing the door behind him as the both of them left. You sighed and turned your attention back to Courtney who was still holding your hand.
"I have to tell you something, and please don't hate me." You said.
Courtney shifted a little and moved closer to you. "Alright, what's wrong?"
You took a deep breath and closed your eyes as you braced yourself for Courtney's reaction.
"I think I'm falling in love with you."
You waited...and waited. You waited for a while but there was just complete silence, the only sound that could be heard was you and Courtney both breathing as you just sat there. Eventually you opened your eyes and Courtney was....they were blushing?
Courtney stared at you for a while before breaking out into another smile and squeezing your hand. "Y/N, there's a reason why I always walk over to you first after a shoot and sit with you at lunch to listen to you talk." Courtney said.
The heat started rising into your cheeks again. "Wait...you're saying that you-"
"Have been in love with you for a while? Yes, I have wanted to ask you out for a while now." Courtney said.
You sat there for a moment, just looking at Courtney and holding their hand in yours. It was a few minutes until you finally said something in response.
"Do you have any plans on Saturday?" You asked.
Courtney smiled softly. "No, why?"
You blushed a little more. "Courtney, will you go on a date with me?"
"I will, where are we going?" Courtney asked, your face probably showed that you hadn't thought that far ahead so Courtney just chuckled softly and squeezed your hand. "How about we talk about it after work okay? I'm late for a video."
"After work sounds great, I'll be at my desk." You replied.
The two of you stared at each other for a little bit longer, just both completely happy that you felt the same way. Eventually Courtney kissed your cheek and rushed off to the video she's meant to be in while you went back to your desk, you were unable to get any work done because you're mind was completely occupied by Courtney and potential date ideas.
