Obviously, the Rivals writers have seen Battle of the Network Stars. Nice nod to some bizarre TV shit that would never happen today. The liability insurance would never cover it.

While I was technically out of the womb when the first Battle aired, it was just: I was quite literally still wet behind the ears. My husband, however, is a few years older than me and remembers watching these specials on TV.

The seventies were a whole different planet, I swear.
