Girl fuck all them if blogs attempting to start a form of blackballing??. Especially if-news-again being weird in the hashtags saying “I don’t want to outright step on any toes,” and then using another hashtag saying “I think less of you if you use it” mind you that’s contradictory, and as if their opinion fucking matters 😭 Boooo bitch 🍅🍅. and fuck all the people sending you hate, I guarantee the majority of those people are too old to be acting like little kids in your ask attempting to berate you and ostracising you for 4 fucking images.
Onto positive notes I seen your title and was like yepppp I need this and started following you instantly! The title draws people in so you did a great job and I’ve never seen an if done on the homeless so I’m very intrigued.
p.s my bad for the swearing if you don’t choose to post it because of that.
Love, xoxo💋
Ahahahaha ❤️
Thank you - this very much made me smile~
You're not wrong about the blackballing -- but, also: Why would I want to be part of a 'community' I've seen, firsthand, hold so much hate/intolerance? You'd think a place full of writers-creatives making (usually)inclusive stories would be a bit better at not agreeing with something--without resorting to blatant hostility; or at least, possess the ability to discourse beyond 'ai sucks, you suck'.
If you're gonna go: mob mentality -- have the grace not to hide it behind self-righteousness.
I so wish there were more IF authors who would stand up and say: 'I hate ai - yes. But I'm not going to be unkind about it - and neither should you.' There's a disturbing lack of that courage. If I was on the other side of this, against AI, but seeing a fellow new IF author get that much hate -- I would say something. I would condemn those actions.
Extremist behavior remains extremist behavior.
I saw a tag was - initially - added to my intro post (I assume on using ai), but then it was fully removed as that wasn't 'deemed enough'. So, there was obviously pressure there and it's sad (but not surprising) if-news-again caved from that or personal feelings. I remember them making a point on posting games, even if they're not personally into them. I remember appreciating that unbiased view. But, apparently: there's limits.
LOL Yet another reeled in by clever marketing and - -DEBAUCHERY~!!
I'm so PROUD of this title haha -- and equally glad it's bringing people in (instead of the opposite!). I too have never seen an IF, specifically, centered around homelessness--let alone: SAPPHIC(beyond it being a background trait that may/may not define a MC), so I knew this was something that needed to be fearlessly put out there and explored.
And it's thanks to people like you that it's being seen, despite the ostracizing. So, truly: thank you for the support and love. I'm so excited to share this story with you all~ ❤️🌈
(and I don't mind swearing in asks, so long as it's not obvious hate spam, for the record~ adult blog be adult)
I am curious, what inspired you to write about homelessness specifically?
It's a sadly often ignored or even erased part of humanity, and it is nice seeing it represented in a non demonizing way.
I worked at a homeless shelter for 3 years on the night shift. Learned so much about homelessness and the many struggles that come with it. So I am excited to see how you write, and how you represent those struggles!
Also, as a fellow sapphic, I am also excited to have another sapphic focused fic! :D
YASSSS, NONNIE!!! I love this type of question so much(and was waiting for it)!! Time ta get into da: DEEP SHIT
This will be a long/personal answer, so read on under le cut~
So, homelessness -- and this entire concept/project -- is so important to me because I've been homeless - multiple times. I've been on the streets; been in shelters; dealt with jaded caseworkers; waded through an overtly convoluted(read: broken)aid system -- and worked my way from the absolute bottom to the (figurative)top.
Basically: I'm MC.
(But: I know I'm not the only one who's MC -- I'm not the only version. And that's where the other characters come in.) I'm the person who did everything 'right' by society's standards: Got the college degree (got the DEBT) tried to live within my chosen field, but consistently had a hard time getting hired within in. Even with experience. Even with resume that hit all the desired points. Talented, intelligent, young and able -- yet still not chosen. And you end up in a situation like this.
Many don't want to admit they're one paycheck away from being on the streets. That homelessness can happen to anyone. Anyone.
And I think a lot of the stigma comes from that fear; from being so much closer to it than one's comfortable. It's made into this foreign concept; homelessness happens to - 'those people' -- not you.
But what's interesting - - what's powerful - - is that: It's not just *Me*. It's so many others who've found themselves in this Exact situation, via myriad ways, but never had the space to talk about it. The world makes it loathsome; makes it something shameful. So - you're in it; you're (hopefully) out of it -- then you never speak of it again.
So -- how do we learn? How do we understand?
How do we breach this topic -- this: lived Experience, that's so common - but no one's talking about it?
One way is like this.
But also - just wanting to write against the many, many misconceptions of what 'homelessness' actually IS really fuels me. That, and the: perception; what it can look like. The immediate image is of the scraggly, older person on a sidewalk, haggard, begging with a cardboard sign and a cup. And that's a single case -- but not the only case. There's: 'homelessness in plain sight'. The people sitting next to you on the bus or in the library. People who can't immediately be clocked and exist in this - awful subset of humanity from everyone else. It is sad; it is ignored.
All that 'said': Thank you for your 3 years of shelter work! I would love to hear/see if you identify with Cleo - or even Fahn. The 'staff' side in homelessness services is just as interesting(do I have stories XD). And: hell yeah - fellow sapphic. Can't wait to weave these two topics together(that have quite a few similarities when you think about it! ;))
A perfectly sapphic tale on survival, ending up homeless… and finding your (imperfect) soulmate -- in the worst possible place, at the worst possible time....
Itch.io page + Demo (TBA) - In the works!
*Currently Working On*: prologue for release (3/4ths of the way done - WOO~)
…well that’s - Problematic….
You're homeless.
No dramatic story; no heart-wrenching saga of war and mass destruction -- just: You. A normal person, stuck in a stagnant economy and the whims of rampant capitalism -- making ends meet; living paycheck-to-paycheck, juggling: survival job after survival job -- until you couldn't. And your luck(and--savings--)ran out.
You've done everything to avoid this: It found you regardless. Now you find yourself on the streets of New York City. There's no manual here: You learn by trial and error. You don't always get it right -- but you've made it this far off ingenuity, web searches, and will. Surviving off pocket change, living off public amenities, hopping from train stations to libraries ...maybe a five-finger discount, here and there....
It wasn't easy(--why would it be?); but you built a system -- made it work -- navigating opening and closing times--parks, bathrooms, coffee shops--like a pro. Applying for any job you could find with what little energy you had left to spare. And then, right before you were about to give in; resign yourself to begging and cardboard boxes -- by desperation or pure chance: -- you find it:
Safe Harbor - NYC
A homeless shelter for women. With sparse reviews and high enough ratings from people who volunteered there.
You make the call. Pack what's left of the items you managed to keep into a single suitcase. Intake's at 3pm - priority for new guests and those fleeing domestic violence.
Your time on the streets has come to an end. But your soon-to-be reality: navigating shelter-life, public assistance, and the long climb out from the pits of poverty, is only just beginning.....
Customizable Female (or: female-presenting) MC: Build your BB Survivor your way! Pronouns, appearance, disposition, former profession -- all are yours to customize! Each option gives its own benefits (and: consequences 👀) + leads to special situations!
That's so - Gay: Lesbian, Bi, Pansexual, Polysexual, Ace -- whatever flavor of 'sapphic' you choose to be, you can be~ <3
Rep Your Disability (or - go without!): Choose from mental or physical disabilities that are more than flavor text! Are you neurospicy? Hard of hearing? Deal with chronic pain? Each will impact your MC's experience in a wholly unique way!
MC's Got Talent: Select up to two skills that will further enhance your personal playthrough! Are you Self-Assured and Well-Packaged? An empathetic Listener with a penchant for playing Devil's Advocate? Mix and match to discover your favs!
Pick Your MC's Connection + Relationship: Do you have a successful single working mother? Two loving foster parents? A ride-or-die godparent? The messiest best friend? Or: Will you brave hardcore mode and - go it completely on your own?
4 ROs to Smooch: Will you forge a deeper relationship with a fellow homeless guest? Or maybe you prefer a bit of taboo to your woo and have your eyes on a member of staff~? (Either way, keep in mind: They're perfect for you, but have their issues too. ;))
Complex + Dynamic Romances: No stat-chasing -- rack up approval or don't, you will always have access to romance the available ROs in either approval-mance (approval based romance) or rival-mance (rivalry based romance). However! The lower your approval, the harder you'll have to work to get your boo!
Big Shelter is Watching: Will you work within the system or make your own path? Follow the rules or consistently challenge? Argue with staff or befriend the volunteers? You decide! (...but, be careful: Cause too much trouble and you might end up banned. ❌🫣)
Nerisa Bernard 🌼🐝 (she/her)
Sweet, charming and with a gorgeous smile that could stop anyone in their tracks, Nerisa exudes natural leader energy -- and takes the position graciously. She's the one all the girls go to in the shelter for advice -- and the one who greets each new arrival, personally. Rarely is she seen alone: there's almost always a group of (fawning)women trailing behind as if she's attending court. Always with a kind word and even kinder brown eyes, the staff at Safe Harbor see Nerisa as a glowing example all guests in their care should aspire to emulate.
Nerisa is mixed, has golden brown skin (with honey undertones) and long, kinky bronze-caramel hair that falls to mid-back. Attractive twin dimples show when she smiles. She has a dragonfly tattoo just below her right clavicle.
Page Liška 📄🎧 (she/her)
Introverted, short-tempered and with messy bed hair you can spot a mile away, Page just wants to be left the fuck alone. She's not into the whole 'namaste' - 'join hands with your fellow sister' scene; she'd rather use her hands for greater things. On any given day, you'll find her locked in a janitor's closet with headphones, sniping at staff members on the conditions of the shelter, or -- out on the streets. Being cooped up with depressing-ass women who moan and bitch all day? No thanks.
Page is eastern European, has tanned, sunspot speckled beige skin and choppy, shoulder-length platinum-blonde and purple dyed hair (with dark natural roots). She has multiple piercings and many tattoos - her favorite being a female version of 'The Hanged Man' tarot on her thigh.
Cleo Thompson 📋✅ (...she/her)
Professional, organized and impeccably dressed, Cleo takes her position as a junior staff member at Safe Harbor - NYC very seriously(some would say - 'too' seriously). She knows it's so much more than a nine to five; that her -- every action -- could have a direct impact on those she's here to serve. She doesn't understate her position of privilege and does her best to meet every guest's needs as efficiently and sympathetically as possible... yet. Often comes off as 'clinical', instead. It's a hard line: drawing the boundary between guest and staff--yet still wanting to know each homeless woman as human. Not just a name on a sheet.
Cleo is Black, with dark brown skin and ebony, waist-length braids she often wears tied or half-tied up in some fashion. She has a small, nearly indistinct scar on her left cheekbone and heterochromia iridis - two-toned eyes; the top half dark brown; the bottom half blue.
Fahn Sharma 👠 🛋️ (she/her)
Colorful, vivacious and empathetic to a fault, Fahn is Safe Harbor - NYC's licensed psychotherapist, available four days each week for the guests there (though, often staying weekends regardless). Fahn is as vivid as the outfits she wears, often joining patterns that - alone - would look atrocious anywhere else -- but she gets away with it every time. She knows who she is and is proud of the journey it took to get there. Truly, there's no greater joy for her than helping other women, currently: beaten, abandoned, and unheard -- with time, recognize they're worthy of recognition, esteem, and every ounce of her respect.
Fahn is south Asian, with beautifully chiseled features and golden bronze skin; her long brunette, wavy hair ends at her hips and is usually held beneath a vibrant, patterned head covering. She prefers classic, tasteful makeup; her observant, warm almond eyes glinting with clear intelligence.
Pu$$y Trauma is a fearlessly sapphic/WLW dive into imperfect characters placed in brutally unfair situations -- somehow finding love in themselves: and each other. It will be messy; it will be heartbreaking -- it will be triumphant. This story is 18+ and intended for adults, exploring potentially triggering topics, such as:
unbalanced power dynamics
unhealthy relationships
domestic violence
toxic habits
coping mechanisms
(so many…)bad decisions
manipulation/gaslighting
mental + physical disabilities
stigma against homelessness
ageism, sexism, racism - all the ‘isms’
relationships with individuals confused/questioning their gender and/or sexuality
breaking the law/grey morality(CRIMES.)
mention of/use of drugs + alcohol
explicit language + other societally frowned upon terms
adults doing adult things in later chapters - it ain't taxes... ;) (VGVES - very gay, very explicit scenes)
⁃ And more!
🌈 Spread the word, spread the gay agenda! Reblogs appreciated! 🌈
@interact-if
Drew this a while back, but thought I'd post to celebrate GB OFFICIALLY hitting Step 3~ 🎉 (ScReAmInG)
Tamarack belongs to @gb-patch and my MC belongs to Tamattack.
Hello!! I can't find any post mentioning this, but my friend (who doesn't have Tumblr) wanted to know what nationality K is? Especially since his surname is of Dutch origins.
Thank you!! Absolutely adore your game
Hi! I thought I had mentioned somewhere but K is half-Assyrian, a quarter Persian, and quarter Dutch.
“I should’ve known you were lying about not wanting to hurt me tonight.”
GURL - I just wanted a KISS 🫠😭
K (Kaia here because - the World NEEDS MORE Kaia art) the heartless witch belongs to @evertidings. Who owes me and every other K-mancer ice cream + therapy after chap 13.
(and - yes, I know Kaia has loose hair with braids, but I wanted her in 'I couldn't sleep' pigtails - LET ME HAVE THIS)
*added them side by side cuz I like lookin at 'em~
you were a ghost, unseen - up close
distorted and poignant, memories like blades
Don't you hate it when IF writers are so Good at what they do, they force your lazy behind to actually draw something? YEESH.....
My MC (Sylvaine 'in it to WIN IT' Jackson) with her problematic Seven 'be emo and pay taxes' Lawless in their BotB photoshoot looks. Title is from Sylvie's song book -- because I see an empty box for custom lyrics and take that as an Entire Challenge.
Seven belongs to @infamous-if - go play it and be obsessed like me 🎼🎤
Children of Cain: The Ballad of the Young Gods - - MC Deets (Hadriane Langston-Devine)
Seriously suffering from brainrot - or, what's the opposite of brainrot (brain renewal?? euphoria?) from @childrenofcain-if's TBotYG demo and his characters being stuck in my head. And, darnit, if something's gonna live up there, rent free, might as well be productive. So I used my baguette level obsession passion to draft a MC as interesting as her ROs~
*All credit( - read: Brilliance) for characters/plot/game imagery, etc. go to Axel + Alby. Hadriane is my brainchild, but this is their sandbox and I'm just sweating to play in it. 🙏🏾
