Call me Yunnie. I am mostly useless, but... I can translate pixiv fanart OTZ Though I'm also part of the team that puts out the Japanese to English translation of the Detective Conan manga. So, I guess, you can also call me a DC fan translator.

I apologize for my disappearance, and now I feel like have to explain the reasons of my long absence. First of all, shout out to Nay-chan and Fuji for being wonderful translators that made the story of Chiba and Miike available for everyone ^__^

I am still on hiatus, so I’m not fully _back_, yet though :c

So... Worst thing happened - I do have a lifelong disease, which is asthma. There’s nothing I can do about it, it is incurable, so I am learning to live with lack of air every morning :”D

Because of that my lungs crushed and I spent a month fighting and curing an acute case of bronchitis, was on IV treatment and frankly was dead. And another month I spent for recovery. Don’t question my math, I’m not strong at it :’3

Another bad thing is that my PayPal is blocked, so I can’t receive ko-fi stuff, or patreon stuff (Patreon was redirected to other paypal address though) 

I am alive. Dying, but alive

Your thougths about Amuro?

If he hadn’t been so clearly fanservice, I may have had an actual interest in this guy. But at this point, he’s more yet another addition to our storyline than an actual character I am compelled by. 

His storyline is similar to one’s we’ve seen already. He’s a spy infiltrating the organization because his Dark Traumatic Past™ has led him to destroy them and so he’d rather do it from the inside because he is a top secret operative that has been motivated by loss and death his entire life and now he finally has the opportunity to take down the bad guys that killed Elena whom he loved and treasured and adored –most likely– and he will stop at nothing until he does yadda yadda yadda

Honestly, who the fuck cares about Amuro at this point? What the fuck even is his name? Is it Amuro? Is it Bourbon? Is it Rei? Zero? Is it some other thing? I can’t even give enough of a shit to keep track anymore. WHY DOES A MAN NEED SO MANY NAMES? 

Where did the good times go when all we had to keep track of was a name and an alcoholic codename I miss those days. 

Also all he’s done lately, it seems, is fuck shit up for Shinichi and company because he has some profoundly, probably unfounded or misdirected hatred towards Akai –what a shock, please leave your man problems at the door thank you– and I am not okay with this. I understand you’re trying to carry out your own personal fucked up vendetta, but do not get my poor Shinichi in danger because of it. My guy’s out here doing his best, trying to fight the bad guys and the last thing he needs is your Problematic Hetero Bullshit™ giving him up to the organization come on Amuro do us all a solid. 

Also I don’t understand why he’s suddenly almost the main character? Why does he get so much merch? Why does he get a god damned movie? WHY DOES HE GET A SPIN OFF, ARE WE CRAZY? WHEN HATTORI HAS BEEN THERE ALL ALONG?????? 

Why are people obsessed with this guy he’s honestly such a boring character. He’s like the brandless version of Akai only I’m actually invested in Akai’s shenanigans whereas I wouldn’t give a damn rat’s ass if Amuro was shot in the head. Give me a bagel over Amuro any day. 

I don’t hate him. It sounds like I hate him but I don’t. I’m just so indifferent towards him that I don’t understand why he keeps grabbing the damned spotlight. I can’t believe people actually like this guy he’s so bland my GOD.

I’m of the firm belief that 10% of his popularity is the enemy dynamic-to-yaoi dynamic he has with Akai, and 30% the fact that his seiyuu is Tohru Furuya (seiyuu can have a huge impact on ratings per episode- I can’t even begin to get into that due to my frustrations with that cultural issue from previous series’), 20% editors, 10% Gundam Reference LOL, 10% Character age to fan age, 20% Editors.

He’s just causing unnecessary tension that was there anyways but making it cheap. Gin was enough of a foil to Akai- to EVERYONE as a source of suspense and fear, we did not need Amuro in this this long. Vermouth has even been seemingly forgotten as his “mentor” and closer authority. She and the other main-stay BO members have been seemingly curbsided for Amuro.

I have a running gag that Gosho had an agreement with Tohru to give him as many lines as he can because Tohru has to feed his family %)

And Wakana Yamazaki once said something bad (dunno, criticized Gosho’s shirt? :D), so she’s forever “call the police, Ran!” 

Something like:

At Gosho’s HQ. Chapter planning.

Gosho: Okay, new chapter. Hm... Okay, Amuro lines, let’s see... How about I dedicate 6/16 pages to him? Man gotta feed his family. Ok, few lines for Chafurin, Wataru didn’t say hi to me, so today he’ll have only “Yes, inspector!” 

Gosho: Now Ran... Mwehehe, Wakana, you should’ve thought what you said 10 years ago, you’ll have “okay” and “Conan-kun” only as usual. He-he-he...

Ran and Shinichi need to communicate more, at least by my standards. Plus, Ibkmow what it's like to hide something from a loved one. Even if Shinichi survived the finale, by then a part of him has died. Even by the timeline Gosho says... Hiding something for days, weeks, months? It's painful, and heartbreaking to the person you're hiding from. So while they are an adorable couple... They could both use some therapy 💜 That's just what I think. What do you think, Yunnie-chan? ✨

We don’t see it, but for her he calls her at least few times a week, and even though he was gone for ~6 months, she got presents from him, saw him quite frequently (shadows count, for her it’s Shinichi)

It is painful, but he’s not doing it for fun, right? He’s (stupidly) saving her life. Haibara is not helping with paranoia either: “you can’t tell her (even that you love her)”, “this man knew a lot so organization “erased” him”, etc)

Sadly, this part of ShinRan fell victim to Gosho’s “it’s funnier if Ran doesn’t know”. Well, it’s a love comedy after all.

Maybe it's just me, but I really want to see more interaction between Ran & Haibara... I mean, people always try to make them enemies, but it's clear they're not! Ran saved Ai when she was going to be shot by Vermouth & Calvados; Ai begged Ran to stay at Agasa's house when she found out the BO was lurking about; Ran reminds Ai of her sister Akemi... They both do whatever it takes to protect each other, one way or another! that's the purest, most sibling-like relationship on this show <3

Oh absolutely! 

The Haibara-Ran hate is totally fanon-made. 

It’s true that Ai was a little reluctanct to make true contact with Ran at first, because it hurt her that she reminds her so much of Akemi. But I never really saw it as Haibara not liking Ran. It just hurt her. But she’s getting over it. And now they’re good! 

And on Ran’s side, she’s always tried to be nice and get Ai to open up a little bit to her, and also she has no reason to not be, because on her eyes right now Ai is just a little girl.

The Ran and Haibara “hate each other” thing is just a cheap and annoying trope sometimes overly used because of the “supposed love triangle” (which is not a love triangle if you ask me but whatever), or by the extreme fans of either girl because they like to project their own feelings for the other character onto them. Which sucks. 

So yeah, I agree with you! And I would like to see more Ran and Ai interactions! hell yeah!

The closest thing I've seen to a "The Suspect is Ran Mouri" episode was a FanFiction called "Stars Dedicated to You" by Mari Kia Aishiteru. I'd like to see Aoyama pull a case like that in the future, because it looks and sounds pretty interesting.

Yunnie-chan, a follow-up to my previous question. Do you think "The Suspect is Ran Mouri" was a dokkiri aimed at fans so they would think it is episode 900 and then be disappointed to find out that the episode doesn't exist? Here is the one link I could find for a while about the episode after it was removed from the main wiki (it was later deleted from this website as well): detectiveconan .wikia. com/wiki/The_suspect_is_Ran_Mouri.

I doubt that it was deliberate. As most of such things, it feels like an internet hoax =)

Yunnie-chan, Do you know if the animators are ever planning on releasing the phantom episode: "The Suspect is Ran Mouri"? I remember seeing it on the Detective Conan wikis for several weeks as the planned episode 900 but then they later changed it to "Solving Mysteries in A Locked Room". Since then, I have found nothing about "The Suspect is Ran Mouri" on any wiki, not even in revision histories. All information about the episode just seems to have disappeared completely.

Sounds like a usual “lost episode” creepypasta, so I doubt it ever existed =)
