My spiciest hot take about the misogyny of the Stranger Things finale: While I stand by my belief that El’s conclusion is misogynistic and unsatisfying, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone talk about how Kali, a South Asian woman, gets even worse treatment.

Not only is a character whose found family has been murdered brought back only to die by suicide — until, y’know — her dying act is saving a white character’s life.

El absolutely deserved better. Kali did, too.

again feeling rage at how less than 5 minutes after El "killed" herself in front of Mike, that we had to sit through all the characters happy endings... I was repulsed by hopper, and the byers for sure but seeing max and lucas be all happy and flirty... I was ready to murder everyone!!! Like Mike’s biggest fear was that Max would replace El and that they would all forget her... And they literally made his worst fear the ending!! Mike Wheeler I hope you ditched the rest of them and are living your best life with El in Iceland

This popped off while I was working and I just want to clarify this is a dig at the duffers misogynistic writing and how they nuked all of El’s relationships to dehumanize her and prop up the other characters as more important than her, when El is literally the reason why "things" were "strange" on the show called "stranger things" no need for name calling cus I ranted about being deeply disappointed in a show that has been with me from childhood to adulthood... and yes ik they cried over her in the end but literally Mike had to bring her up for them to even mention her! Max was so insulting to Mike and El’s relationship throughout which could have been forgiven if they continued to write Max and El as growing humans who were best friends not sticking them with the same arcs they've had since their debut seasons. And, in the end it was ONLY Mike who honored her not Max (who literally hasn't been shown as her friend since s3 and literally had no reaction to her death till Mike brought it up) so please take it up with the duffers horrendous writing and not a 20 something year old who needed an outlet for her PMDD rage

The way they took so much from El, not only in-universe (her name, her childhood, her autonomy, her family, her teenage years) but also the writers of the show deliberately took so much from her this season (the importance of her as a character, to her family, to her friends. Her entire life) The only thing they could never take away from her even if they tried is the love of the boy who was the first to show her kindness. The sky is blue and Mike Wheeler will forever love El Hopper more than anything. Nothing can change that. I'll kms
