 This started out as a vent edit a long time ago, but as Yukio's arc moved forward... i found that so did i.

So, in honor of Aoex comeback i finally finished this ( i wasn't lying on my channel description when i said i make videos every 1000000 years) This video is kinda meaningful to me because i'm at a point in my life where i'm not only better, but where i can finally say i want to build a life worth living for myself, and im getting there, little by little... so this video also gives me closure for those dark times. Never again. ANYWAYS sorry that got personal, enjoy my cringe first attempt at voice acting, HUGE thanks to @bubsdubs for the tips they posted on their discord server and to @wojtekaneko for also giving me feedback! you guys are awesome ❤️

This isn’t saying you shouldn’t write bad or sad stories or anything, but from Gaster’s perspective as a character in those stories of course he’d want “happy” endings, haha.

But anyway, I kept telling you guys that when Handplates was over I would tell you. Well… here we are. After seven long years, here we are.

When I started I never thought I’d make it. To be honest, it doesn’t feel real to me at all. My brain still expects to do another page in about two weeks as it always does. I assume it’ll take a while to sink in. There’s a lot to say but this post is already incredibly long (sorry), so it’s probably suited to its own post.

But for all of you out there who read this story, whether you were there from the beginning or just came in now, thank you so much. And for all of you that were inspired by this comic, who created things for it, who blessed me with so many amazing gifts of art and fic and music and dubs and videos and so much more… I don’t know how to thank you enough. I never dreamed that an idle idea could have come this far or had such an impact on my life and so many people, but it did.

I kind of feel at a loss for words… again it’s very surreal. But I will say that Gaster wondering whether the kid is an actual human or not has an unintended level to it since my avatar is a fox but it’s TOO LATE NOW I GUESS lol.

In playing a game, we bring its artificial borders weight. In creating something, we inhabit that world to bring it life.

I started Handplates during a really difficult time in my life… no matter what happened, no matter how much things felt like they were falling apart around me or I was going to lose my mind or it all was just too much to bear, there’d always be another Handplates comic to do. Like clockwork that alarm in my head would go off and I’d get to work on the next one, no matter what was happening. It was always, always there. It’s hard to believe it’s been over seven years… a few more months to eight.

By my estimates, the next comic will be the last one. It doesn’t seem real, and when it does, it just makes me sad to think about… but I guess Undertale itself was about that too. How hard it is to let go, and when it’s time to say goodbye…

It’s fun to see Gaster all irritated and stern again, even though he’s in no position to be judging anyone about terrible things they’ve done lol. This one is a bit short but the next bit in the conversation needs some room to breathe I think.

If you’re curious, the first time Gaster reached out via panel borders was back in 2017! I set up for the LONG HAUL BABY. He usually showed up around Asgore and Alphys but you can see him in various places if you look.

Moral dilemmas! Sans is able to talk about what happened in the lab with Papyrus and make some peace with it, but talking about it with other people is a different story.

Awkward!

There wasn’t a good breaking point in the scene for a bit, so it was either a shorter one or one that was too long and I decided on the shorter one. There’s also a bit of… hesitation? Or reluctance? I think with doing this scene, because this is the last one. It’s a long scene so it’ll take a while to get through, but this will be the final scene of the comic. It’s a very surreal thought… after all this time, it’s hard to believe that I’ve actually gotten here. Part of me doesn’t really want to let go… but there’s no other way ahead but forward, because I can’t stop now.

How long will this scene take to get through? I couldn’t say right now. I guess we’ll find out together!

WARNING: FLASHING COLORS AND IMAGES

A little tribute to @zarla-s's Handplates as it nears its end! (I totally didn’t learn Premiere Pro just to make this.)

So this idea has been in my head since 2017, before Gaster even fell into the Core in Handplates. I heard the song because of Undertale Genocide videos and thought, hey, I feel like this would work just as well for Handplates. Then it turned out to fit so perfectly. In hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t make this video then, because there’s so much newer stuff that worked even better with the song.

I originally planned to wait until Handplates was finished before posting this, but I realized that 1) that may be a while (very understandably, as those comic pages have a ton of work put into them) and 2) even if something really big happens in this last section, I feel content with the portion of the story presented in the video. Handplates has a lot of interconnected themes and subplots and a three-minute video can only deal with so many of them.

Thank you, Zarla, for spending well over seven years (!!) creating such a beautiful and heart-wrenching series!

Also major thanks to my brother for giving me a crash course on Premiere Pro and letting me share his account. This is actually the first time I’ve done more than extremely basic video editing in, uh, seventeen years, and it’s been a ton of fun.

Tear Along the Dotted Line has my stomach in knots. Like I have never heard of Zerocalcare before watching it but man this one person was able to make a piece of art that I resonated with and got emotionally assaulted by, with all six episodes having something in it that just blew my mind. I think everyone I know needs to watch it

Tear along the dotted line is a slice of life comedic series, written and drawn by italian cartoonist zerocalcare. We follow episodes of the artist's life, seemingly unconnected to each others, while he and his armadillo-for-a-coscience reflect on the path they've taken, their friendships and the myriads of worries and hang-ups that haunt a millenial from one of the worst districts of Rome.

I have laughed, I've cried and I've finished it sad but feeling less lonely.

I recommend it to anyone who has three hours to spare, since there's only six episodes of twenty minutes each. I assure you, you won't regret it

Also watch it subbed, all his characters talk with a strong roman accent and dubbed loses a lot.
