Deltarune fan art! Below is a small reflection after painting.
I’m starting to develop a style of my own- a sort of semi-realistism- which is something to be cheerful about, initially. However, I’m also starting to worry about how things may go if I continue to draw the same thing over and over. I saw many cool art-creators who having fully-fledged styles of their own, and they specialise in them. While they seem to have infinite creativity to inspire them to produce many artworks, I fear that I may one day grow tired of… how to put it? “Staying in one area”.
Because the concept of “have one’s own style” doesn’t just mean the style in colouring and lining. But as well as genre, colour scheme, composition… and in the end it sounds like a formula. At least that’s what I saw on the internet these days. For example, an artist is good at portraits. And even though they’ve been drawing different people, it’s always been the head, the face, and the golden sunlight coming from the window.
So it comes to the question I’ve been asking myself for a while: Focus on a style or try different things. For the latter, it sounds fun, but if I am to be a practitioner in the art industry, a jack in all trades just doesn’t cut it. But if I focus on one style, the limitation scares me. It’s almost like I can see the end of the journey before I’m even half-way through.
