Mina does not get angryâshe eradicates anger, stamps it out beneath her feet. It withers, like the flame of a candle bowing down until it becomes smoke. Sheâs a mediator, not an instigator. Her parents were too good at that one. Maybe itâs a coping mechanism to always baid-aid a situation and kiss it better. Wouldnât one of the school counselors have a lot to say about that little habit?
So donât think about it too much. Distract yourself, pick up a cute hobby, throw that head into school. Ignore the expectation and kids that raise their own hell to forget the daily one.
At her dorm, she all but slams the door open. Vision is clouded by rare irritation. One of her ballet show posters comes unstuck from the wall, collapsing to the floor. Mina stands in the middle, soaked from head to toe. Water drips from the tip of her nose. Her umbrella from this morning is now missing from hands in fists at her sides.
âSeulgiââ she begins calmly, strands of hair sticking to her cheek and neck. âDo you know how to hide a body?â She bites the inside of her cheek, mumbling, weighing pros and cons. âYetâŠmurder is too kind. They wouldnât suffer all that much, would they? Remind me why I shouldnât commit a felonyâ? Oh yeah, maintaining a grade point average. Med school.â
Sheâs already pulling off her top, struggling to unstick it from skin. Clothes are becoming a pile on the floor. Socks, jacket, overshirt, almost her skirt before her hands pause on the zipper. She walks across the room half-naked, still talking as she wrings out her hair over the sink.
âTell me your day was better.â If anyone deserves it, they do.
the door slamming is a surprise. seulgiâs at his desk flipping through a couple of readings for a class when it happens. itâs a surprise mostly because mina and him are relaxed sort of people. there isnât much door slamming involved in their lives on any sort of basis and their dorm doors lock, so itâs not like heâd have expected someone else to come slamming into the room like a drunk, directionless chicken or something. he sets aside the readings and spins around on his ergonomic swivel chair to face the uncharacteristically infuriated girl.
âiâd say the body wouldnât have to be dead before you hide it?â he pauses. yeah, heâs danced in storylines where the body wasnât dead before it got hidden somewhere to come back and bite him in the ass later as the protaganist (principal dancer). which honestly sucked tits. karma was a cruel mistress. âbut i agree that if you want to get into med school itâs probably a better idea not to be hiding any bodies, dead or alive. theoretically, money could buy you a âget out of jailâ card but itâs probably not going to let any doctorsâ associations sign off on a practitionerâs license.âÂ
there goes the blatant stripping. itâs a topic they havenât discussed, 100% because seulgi hasnât told his roommate that he may or may not be completely a girl or even feminine at all. heâll come around to it sometime, when mina is less likely to freak out over the idea that sheâs sharing rooms with someone who has a mind more like a hormonal teenage boy than a hormonal teenage girl. in any case, he turns back to his readings and feigns flipping through the pages heâs already gone through while he hears clothes coming off.
âmy day is marginally better, judging by the fact that i am in our dorm room in my lazy clothes and at optimal studying temperature. also, i am being cradled by this wonderfully ergonomic chair. it was a regular day? i woke up, went for a run, went for classes, dropped by the dance studios and then came back here to do assignments,â he listened out for the sounds of mina going into the bathroom or putting clothes back on. âdo you want to talk about it or we can pretend i never asked this question at all?â
